Came in for an early dinner before a Christmas Lights Walk. Jess immediately greeted us with a warm welcome. She let us know we could choose from inside dinning or outdoor patio, which both are very well decorated and comfortable. We came around 5pm on a Thursday night, and saw their Happy Hour menu that had a a wonderful selection of small plates, beer and wine. So we went the route of ordering 4 Small Plates, 2 Appetizers and an Entree to share. It was a great way to sample their menu and honestly everything we tried was delicious. Food - The taste is the best in the area for oysters. Everything is VERY FRESH! We were informed by our server that the oysters are flown in the same day or at most, 1 day before. We ordered a half dozen (6) Nautilus oysters, a half dozen mixed (2 North Haven, 4 pacific plump), some drinks and the Seafood Chowder. We were able to mix and match the second half dozen because they only had 2 North Haven left and we were happy we grabbed those. The North Haven were definitely our favorite, just liquid gold in oyster form. The Pacific Plump oysters were gigantic, very filling, and had a great flavor as well. They were the biggest oysters I have eaten in my life up to this point. The Nautilus were from a different region, and carried a more salty flavor combination. It was a little on the salty side for my taste, but we enjoyed them nonetheless, especially with the amazing toppings/garnish that they provided with them all. They brought us a fancy vinaigrette, some very upscale cocktail sauce, a coarse-ground horseradish that came in strips, and of course, fresh lemons. Very fun and unique toppings to experience, which we absolutely loved. Service - we had the place to ourselves, so we had a dedicated server. Even so, he was super friendly and informative about what we were ordering (we are no oyster experts), and he also made some excellent recommendations. Atmosphere - it is a humble place. Very well decorated and clean, but not bougie. A nice mix of elegant without being stuffy. Price - I think these oysters were well-priced for where they are coming from and the freshness. You just can't beat them. I would however avoid the seafood chowder on my next visit and just stick with more oysters. For $10, I couldn't find much of the sea bass and pancetta that was supposed to be in there. It was good, but just nothing I would write home about. I caught a glimpse of Liv's as I was driving down Belmont Shores looking for actually some place to eat. I noticed they served seafood and I am all about that. They have outdoor seating as well as indoor and it was such a beautiful day, we opted to sit outside. The menu looks amazing with so many delicious seafood items to eat. For appetizers, I went with their gusto bread and olive tapenade. this was so good. Spread as little or as much tapenade as you like, there is enough. This paired well with the white wine from Langue d'Oc that we ordered. The wine glasses are stemless. For our mains, we got seared scallops.. These were one of the best scallop dishes i've had. Perfect sear and just amazingly delicious. They were butter basted day boat scallops, served with herbed farro and seasonal vegetable. I also ordered the gambas al ajillo or shrimp and garlic sauce. these were also very delicious. These transparent sea prawns seasoned with garlic, white wine, paprika butter, dill, and served with a side of grilled sourdough. The sourdough was perfect to wipe your plate and pick up the amazing sauce. They have many more seafood items on their menu that I want to try. They have a great wine and beer list. I've had oysters from EMC seafood and from New Orleans. Liv's is such a cute and quaint restaurant. The ambience is calm and a great spot for a date. We were seated at the bar and the staff is so friendly. We started off with some oysters and seafood corn chowder. I usually flinch at chowders because I feel like most restaurants make them too thick and flavorless. This is the opposite. Their seafood corn chowder is extremely smooth and flavorful. It's made super fresh because I burned my tongue when I first tasted it. It was so good. Couldn't get enough! The oysters were good. You could taste the difference between the plump ones and the smaller ones. The smaller ones were savory and the plump ones had a lot of meat in them. We were also told that their pasta (off menu) was handmade with lemon zest I had to try it and I am so glad I did. The noodles were extremely light and the sauce paired perfectly. It was a clear, lightly lemon, flavorful pasta. The clams were also very good and im usually not a clam person. I think clams are usually too seafood-y for me but these paired super well with the pasta sauce and were flavored well. We had been to Liv's in the past for oysters, but decided to go for dinner the other week and were so happy that we did! In terms of size, Liv's is small so we made a reservation in advance for a Saturday night and were glad we did because the restaurant was packed. We were seated outside, which was nice during the holiday season to people watch and enjoy the decorations on 2nd Street. Our server was super attentive throughout our meal. We knew we wanted oysters to start, but were unsure which ones to select so we appreciated our server's knowledge and advice on each type of oyster based on how sweet or briny they were. We ordered a half dozen oysters along with the crackers and caviar, which was a nice combination. We also ordered the fried calamari appetizer and really enjoyed how unique the dish was - the fried sliced serrano peppers were a nice addition and both dipping sauces had a really unique, but delicious flavor. For our mains, we split the lobster chowder and the shrimp alfredo pasta. Both dishes were AMAZING, but what surprised us the most was the pasta. We didn't expect such an incredible pasta dish at a restaurant known for oysters. The handmade pasta was cooked perfectly and the balance of pasta and shrimp was perfect in the alfredo sauce. This new oyster bar on 2nd street is soo cute! I went here for dinner with 3 friends and it was the perfect vibe for our girls night. I loved every detail from the pink and gold tableware to the little fish paper clip on the menu. We went during social hour (Wed-Thu 4-9) and we got the mini fish & chips (good portion actually), Tom Kha mussels (sooo good, loved the broth), Nashville hot fish, and a half dozen oysters. You have to get the oysters of course! They were so fresh and tasted amazing with the little vinegar/onions topping + lemon. We also got the bread pudding for dessert and it was to die for! Great texture and flavors. The service was fantastic as well. Granted, it was pretty empty when we went, there was only one other party there. But our waitress was still great - very attentive and gave us good recommendations. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. My friend and I met up for lunch at Liv's. The last time we met here, it was a rotisserie chicken place that didn't survive covid. :( Anyways, Liv's was quite good. I started out with some delicious oysters. They were fresh, and had a nice briny taste. Like taking a bite of fresh ocean water. Then, we shared a soft shelled crab sandwich with fried cauliflower on the side, and a plate of fish and chips. Everything was very good, and the server was so friendly and welcoming. It is a bit pricey for lunch. I wanted to LOVE the food so bad, but the pasta was lacking in flavor. Maybe some good ol' S&P would do the trick. However, I did enjoy the fresh oysters! Food was okay. Service was amazing. We had some dishes that were to die for and some that I could've lived without. Liv's style oyster was okay. The oyster overwhelmed the caviar and creme fraiche so at $12 each, I'd pass next time. The bread and olive tapenade butter was definitely the best thing we ate and now i'm trying to reserve engineer the recipe. I'm obsessed! Fish and chips was surprisingly good. Wine and beer selection was okay. I know it's tough to get a liquor license but with these prices you would have thought they might. I got the lobster roll and while delicious, I was underwhelmed. It was around $40 which is already kinda crazy, as most places would charge around $20-$25, locally caught or otherwise. But it was also lacking a lot of... lobster For $40 was expecting a substantially more or at the very least just as much as any other lobster roll i've had. Overall, it was good. It probably won't become a regular spot for us because the price point doesn't match up, but we would definitely come back in the future to see what else they have going on. read more

We ordered quite a few things for an early dinner: girl's dinner, Lovers oyster platter, salmon tartar, bread and olive tapenade butter, clam chowder, and calamari. The salmon tartar was basically a deconstructed Lox Bagel with 3 pieces of sourdough. Service was extremely slow, they did not buss the table in between courses, and they never checked on us outside delivering food. The food here is really exceptional. This place was exactly what I was hoping it would be. I wish I could have tried everything on the menu but this time, I did the grilled oysters and chowder. Both were great. The oysters were really well balanced with salty, slightly spicy, nicely acidic kick. I could have eaten 3 orders of them. My husband and I were craving seafood and wanted to hit up a happy hour nearby, and I saw that Liv's has a Social Hour on Tuesdays - Friday from 4pm-7pm. There is inside and outside seating available. Cute and quaint ambiance in the inside - clean and simple. The bathroom is located in the back, in which you have to pass through the kitchen. RAW OYSTERS (4/5) : Delicious, but at $21 for 6 pieces about $3.50 each , I don't think it's much of a HH deal. That's pretty much regular price - if not more. However, the oysters were briny with a nice crispy finish. We were able to try 2 types from the night's offering. OYSTER SHOOTERS (3/5): Different than most shooters I've had. It came with an orange slice for a bit of sweetness, but the shooter itself tasted like peppery ketchup. Also, the cups in came in I feel like were too big for the serving. Shooters were at $3. My husband got excited and ordered 4, but we should've stuck with 2. FRIED OYSTER CAESAR (5/5): My husband and I shared the social hour portion which had 2 pieces of oysters. We both enjoyed our bites. SCALLOP CRUDO (5/5): I loved how soft the scallops were, and the sauce definitely had a smooth taste to it. It reminded me of Bavel's scallop dish, but I like Bavel's better. We both weren't too fond of the sage in the dish. It was a little overpowering. I feel like the dish choice this was served in should've probably been flatter plating. It was more like a bowl. SALMON CRUDO (5/5): This dish reminded me of a salmon dish from Hatchet Hall with a similar creamy white sauce and some herbs. However, Hatchell Hall went overkill with their dill on their dish. This one was a better. TOM KHA MUSSELS (2/5): This item was not on the social hour list. We originally came here thinking they still had their Lobster Carbonara, but they didn't. I would not recommend ordering this. The mussels were super tiny and the Tom Kha sauce itself was super sweet. It tasted like a spoonful of sugar. Definitely not worth the $24. It also reminded me of Saffy's Turmeric Mussels, but their mussels were so much bigger. The sauce was also more balanced. I felt like Liv's fish didn't have much of the sour component that Tom Kha would usually have to cut the sweetness. Overall, I think Liv's is a cool spot to grab some oysters. Second Street was in very much need of a seafood spot/oyster type bar. I feel like a lot of things reminded me or seemed like they were influenced by Bavel and Saffy's which are some of my favorite restaurants, but didn't just hit quite the marks I was hoping for with my palette especially at the pricing to portion. Came to Liv's for a casual date night looking for some light seafood and this hit the spot! I'd come again and try another batch of smaller plates I think. I love oysters but i know nothing about them - whatever 1/2 dozen was put in front of me was delicious. Lobster chowder was rich and a healthy portion, with artistically toasted bread sticks on the side. The cajun oysters were very flavorful - I'd recommend them as a starter rather than a main. Price was as expected for some quality seafood, but compared to some other name brand places Livs is very reasonable at that 40-60/ person point. Parking is always terrible at 2nd street, just be prepared to walk. Will return to Livs again for some more of that chowder. read more

This place is a gem. Welcomed addition and you should not sleep on it. Rob, the owner, was present and very friendly. Our server, Maddy, was awesome and she had great recommendations. We got the seafood tower and for two people this was perfect. We also got a dessert bc we were excited to see what else they could do. Never a disappointment. Ambiance was good. Probably had the best Cesar salad, chowder bowl combo here ever!! And the oysters? Chefs kiss!! Didn't get a photo of the oysters because we gobbled them up too fast. My lemonade came out in a huge mason jar. My family had the lobster rolls and salmon...seriously amazing! The service was prompt and so courteous and attentive to our needs. So we got the charbroiled oyster and the baked oyster. I enjoyed the charbroiled oysters more, love whatever sauce they used and there were crackers that was paired with it. It comes with 2 great sauces& the coating is tempura style and Not greasy. This really should be a 5-star review. The food is absolutely delicious and vibes are very friendly and relaxed. There was a whole group of young professionals outside enjoying the oysters by the dozen with wine. My family and I had both pata & oysters and they were both ridiculously delicious. The service was relaxed and friendly, though a bit slow. They just opened, so that's no biggie at all. The friendliness (and the fact that I wasn't starving) more than made up for it. The only reason this isn't a 5-star review is because they bought local beer at retail and doubled the price, so a LB Beer lab IPA cost me $13; a fact they didn't share either on the menu or vocally. I love local businesses buying local beer but guys - if you're going to charge double retail, you have to warn your customers. Two beers took my bill up by over 25% (+ another 5% on top, if you add 20% of 25% (the tip $ with the beer price added)).
