It took me time to go over the menu as I had never heard of some of the things / variations offered. I guess it is the regions take on some of the popular Viet dishes... There is a section on the menu for Kitchen's Specialisation... As I was going through this, the owner who looked like a reformed viet gangster came across and started talking to us. Nice guy.. :) Went for #137 (Bánh t), #5 (Banh Loc) .. and the broken rice on a hot plate. cus the dude suggested it. I told him that there is no where in Springvale that serves good Com Tam anymore.. and asked whats so special about his broken rice... he said try it... you wont regret. serving it on a sizzling plate tastes better he says... I couldnt agree more. The sizzling plate also makes the broken rice a bit harder at the bottom, almost like a claypot. Which was an interesting twist. The Pork.. I haven't had this good in a while. Not the best I have had as it still lacked the flame grilled flavour. But great all the same. Banh Loc - I've not tried this before... very similar to most of the "banh" style dishes but wrapped in banana leaf and not heavy. Banh Uot - is very similar to the normal banh cuon (translucent rice noodle rolls) that I am used to however this variety... the "uot" (opaque rice noodle rolls) which means wet banh uses a thicker noodle sheet as wrapper and the filler used was small amounts of pork. I think marinated grilled pork.. the 'cuon' uses those ear mushroom / fungus thingies. and the pork is finer. Arrrggg .. Anyway... bottom line... its frekn YUM! just go try it! :) and no I dont have shares there and the reformed gangster owner has not threatened my family or anything!! The reasons are simple: - Convenient, a place for people of the West (without having to travel to Footscray). - Cheap, affordable meals-for-one or meals-to-share. - Delicious, flavoursome! Obviously busy during lunch/dinner peak hours but I've only ever had to wait over 30min once otherwise they can turn around orders in under 15min. My favourite is the broken rice with marinated pork chop and the Vietnamese style spring rolls. They're CLOSED on Mondays.

We finally settled on the yellowfin tuna roll, pepper calamari, trout with betel leaves, and chicken curry. The tuna spring roll was an interesting twist on the classic prawn roll. It was flavourful when dipped in the sauce but not sure I would order it again. The pepper calamari was by far my favourite. Cooked perfectly, well seasoned and a great dipping sauce to accompany it along with a generous serve. The smoked trout had crispy shallots that paired well with the betel leaves but there was only so much I could eat. Whereas the chicken curry on rice had a great flavour and easy to get more with all the lovely veggies. Their version of the mojito was super refreshing and could have easily ordered another, sat and people watched if we didn't have plans. Convenient location across from the train station, excellent service and a great menu will bring people back often.

Tender beef and plenty of rice noodles swimming in a bowl of the best pho broth I have ever had. Very savory, flavorful, and tasty, I can see how people eat this stuff so quickly. It's served with basil and bean sprouts and can be flavored further with chili sauce or chili oil or one of the other condiments they have on the table. They also serve it with a thermos of hot tea which was good for washing it down. By the time we finished eating there was a larger crowd waiting by the door, staring at us while we ate... The spring rolls were obviously freshly made and the sweet potato fries were very moorish. The choices for mains were spatchcock butterflied and a beautifully presented snapper served whole. Menu items each have Vietnamese titles with the English description written underneath. The menu is extensive with a small wine list for diners to choose to accompany their dinner. Many of our own previously selected and enjoyed favourites were on the menu and we had absolutely no trouble in selecting items for our home delivery. We cannot wait to return and on this occasion we will certainly eat in House .

I'm vegetarian and there are four veggie options on the menu and a couple of dishes that look like they could be adapted. I had the tofu yee mee; a soup of Freud egg noodles, silken tofu and veggies. It was so tasty that if I didn't know it was vegetarian I'd worry it had fish sauce in it! The portion is massive (especially for $13) so I didn't have room for anything else but I spied on someone's curry puffs and they looked amazing too.
