Moving our child to LSELC was the best move ever! The the administrators at LSELC have decades of experience in working with children from infants-sixth grade, and there is very little staff turnover. They truly care about the children and families, and are supportive and direct in their communication. Our child has blossomed under their care, and has developed a lot of self-confidence and self-esteem in their program (especially the summer program). We were a little hesitant because we are not religious, but that has not been a problem, either. The pricing is reasonable, too. We are so grateful that we found this gem of a program. Also, for some reason it is showing that I am in California, but I am not. I was not signed in when I wrote the review, so that may be why? I am in Minneapolis, and our child is open-enrolled in the Hopkins school district.

I told her she was vey rude & why would I send my child someplace that people are not welcoming when you call & try to figure out how to start this process. She treated me like I should of known all this. So very disappointing hopefully they treat the kids better!!!

I am a single mom and putting a center tuition into my budget is EXTREMELY stressful. However, as of Jan 2022 - the people there :) - director and staff - seem so authentic and sincere ... not only about my son (who needs a little extra help) but about working with me to try and make every day, and the budget work. As KC is a huge corporation, I didn't really expect this level of empathy/care - or for them to give a $h*t for my little situation. So far, I am very happy and will try to hustle the best I can so my son can learn and grow with people, I believe, have his best interest in mind.

Our family has been attending Especially for Children (EFC) at the Edinborough location for more…read morethan 4 years, and with all three of our children. Nobody has asked us to do this, but my husband and I are now planning a move to Seattle which means we are once again researching childcare. With that in mind, let me share the pros & cons of this childcare center, which we are really sad to be leaving... PROS: - Fantastic staff. The teachers are WONDERFUL. In all the time we've been there - again 4.5 yrs, we have never had to complain about the primary teachers. They are doing something right here with engagement, and it shows because our kids have LOVED their teachers. They do semi-annual parent-teacher conferences, giving you great insight about your child's development. Not only that, but the director, Anna, has a long tenure and is absolutely wonderful. - Great curriculum. There have been so many times that we've realized the kids learned something that we didn't even know they could do! (Like drinking from a cup, using a spoon, writing letters, etc.) Not to implicate myself as a parent, but if you're kind of clueless like me - knowing they are in good hands developmentally is a big plus. They do lots of theme weeks, field trips, and other fun even within the Edinborough park. Great access to lots of fun for the kids. - Lots of extra programs. The kids have participated in dance, computers, spanish, sign language, art, soccer, and more. The list goes on and on. There is no way your kid could be bored here. And for dance - the kids have a special program twice per year in the Edinborough amphitheater. So darn cute. Highlight of our kids' young lives for sure. - Communication. The center is advanced in that they have been using "BabyConnect" - an app that we have been using with our twins since they were infants. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that they could continue tracking their days and development in this app! Not only that, but they post photos EVERY DAY so you can see the fun your child is having. It also proved to be a big time saver - instead of filling out paperwork or reading paperwork, this is way more handy. - The other parents. We have met some great parents in the process of playdates and other events at EFC. My children truly have "best friends" through EFC and I am delighted that we have loved their parents as well. We even sign up for other activities with them (tee-ball) and the kids loving going to each other's birthday parties. CONS - Because they are at Edinborough, they will run into "non-center" kids in the play areas. With our older child (4) we had some issues wth a mean boy. The teachers handled it beautifully, and have done a good job communicating about it. - Strange layout. The center used to be in another area of Edinborough, and was more centralized with the classrooms and playground. When Edinborough kicked them out to expand the senior center amenities, they had to take over office space in a different part of the park. They did the best they could with the rooms and security. But they do have to trek down to the playground now. I could go on for a while about the great care they take of our kids, and how well they work with us as parents. Hopefully this is helpful info. As we look for new childcare I would be looking for the same information. :)

My son has attend BBLC for the past 4 years and I wish I would have found them sooner. We initially…read morestarted out with a part time nanny and found BBLC through word of mouth referral. I was hesitant to enroll him as I lost my first son in 2008 and was nervous about everything with this baby. Here is what I can tell you about this Center, why we chose it in 2013 and why we're going to be sad to leave when he goes to school this fall: 1.) This is not a typical daycare, your kids are their children. These women will be substitute parents. They will love, snuggle, teach, redirect, and clam your child when you cannot be there. You will almost never walk in the door and not see a child hanging on one of the staff members. The kids love them and they love really genuinely love your kids. They will be honest with you and work with you to ensure the best for your child. 2.) The environment is bright and fun! The kids are exposed to tons of projects in many different mediums. They work on letters, numbers, science, and how the world works around them. They celebrate and recognize your children and holidays, even bringing in recognizable characters like Santa for Christmas. They do a lot of special events for the kids throughout the year and even have Ms. Jean every Friday with her musical instruments and songs! 3.) Preschoolers work on school skills. Desiree teaches kindergarten skills such as letters, numbers, counting, name writing, cutting, coloring, etc. My son was writing his name, mom, & dad by the time he was three and when he attended preschool he already knew everything they were teaching. They work a full curriculum to keep the children busy and engaged. 4.) The children go outside, have water days in the summer, take walks to the nearby park, celebrate Earth Day, and even do Yoga on occasion to relax before nap. 5.) They let your kids be kids and don't stifle your little ones personality however big or small it might be--they will embrace your little human for who they are. 6.) Lastly, cost. Information is not available online but you can set up a visit. Pricing is better than any daycare center in the city. Full time rate cannot be beat and is nearly comparable to even some higher end in home centers except it's not an in home. Another mention is that they do open at 6 and are usually only closed for major holidays which is great if you don't have a flexible work schedule. I would say to only avoid this place if you don't want your child to be completely spoiled and loved during the hours you can't be there because the owner will be like a second grandmother and the teachers like an aunt.
