For all my Asian pantry needs, I come here. All so cheap and you can shamelessly taste test all the slivers of fruit they have to offer!

This is a great little market which is the first and third Sunday of every month…read more Unfortunately they don't seem to have many regular stallholders, so don't have your mind set on a particular stall.. Some Sunday's there are only a small handful of stalls... It seems to be weather dependent. Those who seem to be regular are the great organic vege stall, I think they're called Spring Creek organics, they have a great selection of seasonal produce, the organic chocolate stall and there are usually 2 bakery stalls, both selling yummy artisan breads. There is a fabulous homemade dip stall, but on the first Sunday of the month, you can also buy the most amazing falafel pita pocket. Make sure you save space for this! Today there was also a homemade crumpet stall, free range eggs, a tomato stall and an apple stall that also sold Apple juice. There was a seafood stall, a pistachio stall and also a representative from the Hobson's Bay council giving information about capital spending and asking for residents advice.. This was all happening outside in the substation carpark while inside the substation a craft market was set up, but only on the first Sunday of the month...

It's a small market but has some fantastic purveyors, like the dude with the forearm sized leeks (three biggies for five dollars!), purple carrots, and golden beetroot. Other highlights include some wonderful French style cheese, pickles, Shepherd avocados, and organic breads and ciders. La Tortilleria is here every third Sunday selling freshly made tortillas, nachos, and authentic tamales. We like to come to the Substation with the dog, grab some veggies, and a takeaway coffee, and then head over to the Newport/Williamstown foreshore for a picnic and a long walk.

1 of 2 Duplicate Reviews…read more I know, I know; I am 3+ months behind on my reviews... It's just that my travel schedule has been super busy and I am about to take off again. Thanks for your patience. Quality/Quantity - What a great find! I really like Melbourne, AU! My wife craved and got a Banh Mi Sandwich; see picture. Shrimp & Bug Combo $15 - Our first experience with a "bug;" it tastes just like shrimp. Pandan Croissant - #1 seller at this bakery (Agathe); see pictures. It was done well, worth the $9AUD and the long wait. Halloween Donut - Also good. Guess I was craving green pastries today. Raclette - Sausage fromage, so good. Made fresh in front of you. I almost did not want to share it with my wife. Atmosphere - Cool indoor and outdoor space. So many choices of places to eat and drink. Approximately 39 choices to eat or drink. On approximately 10 acres. Also plenty of businesses around the market. The place is crazy busy, in a good way. If you like people, this place is for you. Plus everyone was so friendly. Paid parking garage, see pictures. We used public transportation and rideshare. Service - Good. Price - Depends what you eat or drink. Caters to locals, so all reasonably priced. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1867! 1972 - New Car Park. 1991 - Market and Food Hall. 2012 - Roof over car park.

Reasonably priced and a great selection of products. If you ever want to prepare a meal, there's great selection.. Market city coffee was fantastic, bought some cheeses, and picked up a borek pastry. Market is separated into different buildings. Seafood, deli and meats, and I didn't get to walk to the produce section. I stopped in at nine, but according to Google, it opens at six. In a shopper. Owner told me they close at three on the weekdays and four on the weekends. Open every day!

Really great lively atmosphere with lots of people and the large downtown buildings in the backdrop of the market were beautiful! There was a great fruit and vegetable selection - I choose a few different fruit options to take back to my hotel later to enjoy. I LOVE mangosteen but it's hard to get fresh ones in the US so was super stoked to see those available! The indoor section with cheeses, meat and seafood was also super impressive! I snacked on some lobster and oysters then went outside and had some sugarcane juice and the BEST MUSSELS I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. Such a great day at this market!!
