I do not have…read morechildren who attend this school, just a witness to some shocking behavior by the teachers that I feel parents should know when considering having or currently have their children attend here... Several teachers were yelling at the kids pretty rudely, such as threatening to call parents or lock them in the van alone if they didn't listen (ie teachers wanting the children to take smiley pictures not a safety concern issue), while at the Olson Farms Pumpkin Patch on October 17, 2023. These responses seemed pretty extreme for each context. Also a girl got hurt while playing and one of the teachers was invalidating and shaming in how she spoke to her. The teacher left her to cry on her own for several minutes. I spoke up to say it seemed that she could use kindness and validation; the teacher did not do anything, instead continued to leave the girl alone after saying she did not have ice. As a parent this was all disturbing to see and not what I would expect from preschool teachers. This school appears to need the teachers to be trained in how to speak to children in an engaging way. The teachers do not appear to know how to emotionally regulate themselves so how can they teach this to the children?

The director Emily has been with him from day one. She is truly the heartbeat of the school, and we couldn't be more grateful for her. And, from Teacher Lydia to Teacher Cindy to Teacher Sarah, and now Teacher Nicole (and all the others that have helped) he has always been in the best of hands. I've never had to worry or stress. I am always at ease knowing he's treated with kindness and patience and that his days are filled with learning, fun, and friends. Nicole is just amazing, he loves her so much! I can't believe we're on to Kindergarten, a big heartfelt thanks to everyone helping him to be so well prepared for this next adventure.

I can't say enough good things about Cadence Acacemy Preschool-Gateway. The fill in director,…read moreTaylor, is doing such a great job not only running the day to day things for our school, but also for the families and her staff. She is always doing what she can to get answers to parents questions, and if she doesn't know the answer she gets it. Even with the covid restrictions, the staff here have done everything they can to keep the school open and healthy. I am really liking the summer camp program that the pre-k class started last month, Road Trip Summer Adventure. Each week they travel (pretend) to a different state to learn about things that stand out in history, events, or places. It's awesome knowing that they have a curriculum that fits every child's needs of learning and interest.

We left our…read moreneighborhood school mid-year because our son was being bullied and despite numerous conversations with his teacher, the counselor, and the principal little to nothing was done. When I picked our son up from his shadow day at FMES, he said it was the best day of his life. Within a week he was more joyful than he'd ever been at our neighborhood school. Three years later, he has some of the sweetest friends and is the happiest I've ever seen him. This past weekend (end of spring break) he said he was missing school because he is really enjoying math. Our younger son has ADHD and is also thriving. The options and flexibility really work well for him. FMES feels different from the moment you walk through the door. It's a very warm and welcoming community. Having taught special education in public schools for twelves years it was tough for us to make the decision to switch but we could not be happier. The love and care our children receive at FMES protects their innocence and joy, giving them a wonderful childhood.

I'm not a fan of all Montessori pedagogy, but they have such a wonderful blend of taking the best parts, and being flexible where it's not working. The leadership was incredibly thoughtful, patient, and communicative in dealing with the pandemic. I felt respected, heard, and most importantly, that our kid's safety AND education were being put at the forefront. Lastly, the environment is open to all sorts of people. The religious components are opt-in. We were literally in tears of joy after the tour, feeling that we had found a match for our family. Four years later, we couldn't be happier, and now have FOUR kids enrolled. That shows how happy we are!
