It is hard to miss this library box thanks to the bright blue of the single door. It's at the corner of Main and Third Street in downtown Rutherfordton.
Inside, two shelves of books. A good collection today. About half paperbacks and half hardcovers, children's and young adult books, a thriller, a self-help and some other reading. Some of them are a little loved and some are retired library books. That's all okay. A lovely note explaining the concept of Little Free Libraries is posted to the front.
This is charter number 33606 and it is on the Little Free Library database map with the steward's name and this caption, "This library is truly a labor of love. Its creator, an 11-year old girl, built it by hand to help others share her love of reading. She discovered a Little Free Library while traveling and wanted to bring the same joy she experienced upon stumbling upon it to her small town of Rutherfordton. If you are looking for a place to read, just take a few steps down the hill to the fountain and sit on the benches beneath the shade trees. Enjoy!"
It's clear that there is some love here. Thank you!
