I feel like they take something from the experience, and in looking at this LFL, it would have been so much more beautiful if it had been wooden with that gorgeous roof! But I digress. This location didn't seem very stable as the plastic was fairly thin. I understand recycling, but most of them need to stand up to harsh-ish conditions (though it's California) so when I see boxes that are flimsy or don't look weather proof I'm a little taken aback. This box had a fairly diverse selection of titles (though was a tad empty) but we didn't end up taking anything, The honey however left a book to pass on. Yay Little Free Library!

Physical Location: 407 Bay Rd…read moreMenlo Park, CA 94025 This was one of our last Little Free Libraries of the day, however I'm glad we didn't end on it. It was on the smaller side, with quite a few romance novels, but personally I really don't like seeing books without covers. I know it's still a book, but it adds to the feeling that no one is keeping up the box, especially since a few books were put back all catawampus. After taking a few seconds to re-order the books in the box we headed out. This location just didn't seem to have as much love put into it so I hope it gets a few extra special touches soon!

Physical Location: 1512 Harbor Blvd…read moreBelmont, CA 94002 This Little Free Library was perhaps the minist LFL I've ever seen! A definite Lincoln Log cabin to be sure! There are a few drawbacks to this location. Because of the hill the home sits on, there isn't really a good place to park, it's also inconvenient in that it's pretty far onto this home's property and looks very similar to a mailbox. The box also has a few spider issues - so those who are a bit afraid be warned. This locale had almost entirely children's books, Boxcar Children, Pony Pals, etc and had some math flash cards in the back. It was a super cute design, but I'm just not sure how often people with kids would be driving up this road or how good at weathering the outdoors this box will be. All in all the lil'ist Little Free Library I've come across, but probably one that needed a bit more thought put into it.

Physical Location: 931 Menlo Oaks Dr…read moreMenlo Park, CA 94025 I rarely take pictures of the Little Free Library that include the home, but this time I couldn't resist. From the purple front door to the white picket fence, this Little Free Library was a complete match to the home it stood in front of! Just so darling! The area it's in is also just so much fun, especially this time of year! The honey mentioned it's very much like the setting for the movie Halloween, super spooky gorgeous trees line the uneven road and all of the homes are huge and sprawling. This location was perhaps the most memorable of our trip - I'd love to come back and trick or treat here! The box itself was filled with great women's novels, the type you read on a beach vacation or next to a fire and the cute little stepping stone just added to the whimsy of this LFL. I'm definitely going to come back to this location, just so darn memorable!

This was yet another super cute location that was designed to model after the home it was in front of! While it was a little on the empty side, the side doors allowed you to have a easier time pulling things out and leaving larger books. The honey almost picked up the star trek book, but most of the selection were hardback books, the type I read as a child - very thoughtful Newbery Medal type work.This locale was incredibly cute and well taken care of, so we would definitely come back! Yay Little Free Library!

He ended up grabbing a book about black holes that he was really excited about! This is a newish addition to the appendix, and it looks like the door is a bit warped from the moisture, but we loved the Little Free Library little flower garden on top! Yay Little Free Library!

Not quite sure why something like this is on Yelp, but it is a cute little…read more"leave-a-book/take-a-book" site in front of a home in the Palo Alto Area--a nice gesture and amenity for the community. Since there is no human interaction, my rating is based off of connivence and availability of book selection (Which can also vary).

Physical Location: 916 Theresa Ct…read moreMenlo Park, CA 94025 This was our last Little Free Library of the day and we had trouble finding it. The honey (sarcastically): "Maybe it's the toaster." Me: "What?" The honey: "It is the toaster!" This location (in an actual old style toaster) had hands down THE BEST book selection I have ever seen. It was small but mighty. I wanted at least three of books, and the honey was regretting he had no book to give since he wanted one of the others. It was just full of fantasy and sci-fi and we loved it! This is probably the most funky locale we've ever seen on any of our trips! And it was obviously loved and cared for because none of the books had any sort of weather issues. It was so much fun to find and we both had a great laugh at the fact it was a toaster! The stuff you find Little Free Librarying man, so much fun!

Physical location: 960 Colby Ave…read moreMenlo Park, CA 94025 This Little Free Library was super adorably decorated! We passed by after visiting another local LFL favorite and stopped in to pick up finance motley fool book and the cutest handmade bookmark. The book box was so brightly colored and fun, a definite pick me up during this crisis! We'll likely make this a stop after the toaster (that is no longer a toaster) and the book box down the tree gnarled road close by. If you're in the area, you should really look them up. Yay Little Free Library!
