The selection is solid, considering nothing costs money. They put the belief that books should be for everyone into practice. When I was a HS English Teacher, I gave away dozens of copies to my former students to help start their personal libraries. I stop by on Sunday late afternoons on my way home and it's as fast as hitting one extra red light. One block off touhy, you simply pull up and there's an overhang to protect from sun or rain. There are two lanes so I've rarely had to wait. When I pull up, immediately an employee comes out wheeling a cart and helps load my things into it. Then I'm on my way again. I've never had donations be this easy. I'm finally taking the time to write this review because as I was dropping off my mom's things last night, I accidentally kept my Irish cap and scarf on the donation bag and realized when I got home! Ack! They had sentimental value and I hadn't meant to donate them. I was concerned this would be circus getting them back. But I called immediately, spoke with an extremely diligent and gracious manager who found them within minutes (he said it helped that I called immediately). He said it happens all the time and he is just so grateful for people donating things and wants them tog et their things back in these situations. I drove back and retrieving my items was quite simple. Highly recommend if you're looking for somewhere to donate

I optimistically brought a bag for fabrics, but I unfortunately couldn't find anything quite to my taste. However, they did a great job colorcoding all of the different fabrics. The store is fairly organized considering how many donations come through. I really appreciate how they even use different drawer systems and cabinets for different subcategories of items. I do think most of the supplies would be great for educators or children: lots of odds and ends that would be put to excellent use given the right creative minds. I walked away emptyhanded, but I imagine someone would love the vintage postcards, various stamps, or Nat Geo magazines I flipped through. Well - the building is massive - the little section that you can actually browse is tiny - and I mean like TINY. No rare books, genre sections barely a shelf long. I was in and out in 15 mins and even that was me trying. This was about 2 weeks ago. There was a giant section on the west side of the building with stacks of books that was roped off. Is this the inventory? Why can't I see those books too? Did I come during an event prep or is this literally how it is? If I didn't know this was the same organization, I never would have guessed it. I support their mission but what happened? Why is this location so bad? Hoping the Lake St location has some of that LS location magic because I'm so so so disappointed.

I've a pretty keen eye & not a tremendous amount of self control when it comes to thrift. I go all times of day and nothing. It seems like the same tired stuff and overpriced too. I can leave this store empty handed for months and that's not usually something I experience at thrift stores. At least the weird smell is gone that permeated the place when it first opened.
