We enrolled our son at Bay Montessori for first grade. It was amazing to me how quickly his reading…read moreand writing skills improved. At his previous school I was told he was not where he should be academically and I think they had told him too because he lacked confidence in himself, sad, because at the time he was only 5! But as I said, at Bay, things changed. My son started improving and believing in himself because the school allowed him TO BE himself. Teaching is tailored to each student. From the first day of school they learn how to make decisions, and manage their day. That is a life lesson I never learned until I was an adult! Through the years we saw the school improve in every aspect, and grow too! As parents we had a voice, and every time I had an idea or concern I was heard. Any issues were quickly addressed. To be honest, I always felt that my input or two cents mattered. I feel I also have to mention how much we enjoyed all of it's fun activities, our personal favorites are international night, tree lighting ceremony, the peace pole ceremony, the school play, author's tea, the fall festival, birthday walk around the sun, and the Echo Hill trip! So many! We also made great friends along the way and my son has learned from amazing teachers. I couldn't be more grateful. When Covid-19 closed our schools earlier this year I had no idea what to expect from distance learning, but I shouldn't have worried. The teachers at Bay were ready with a vast array of fun and engaging material for their students within 3 days of the school closing. My son saw and communicated with his teacher and classmates, on line, every day. Yesterday my son graduated as a 6th grade student from Bay Montessori School. It was a beautiful celebration of his achievements and he knew it and felt it. The smile on his face was priceless and his self confidence as he walked over to the stage to read his speech was palpable. We will be sad to go but we will never forget the years well spent at Bay. I would not hesitate to recommend this school to anyone.

The out right negligence that the has been exhibited towards my children has been a outright disservice to them. If you have a choice do not send them to this school. Previous IEP records were presented and not read, IEP procedures took almost an entire school year to be put into place despite my request for evaluations at the very beginning of the school year. After moving to another school district it was presented to me that my son was in need of and eligible other services that were not being given to him at Piney Point. This administrator has also not been compliant with our new school's efforts to obtain paperwork and refuses to talk with professionals from the new school who genuinely seem willing to help my children. If you have a choice just don't. I truly wish I had not.

What an awesome event and time to celebrate President Jordan's retirement and Juneteenth. St…read more Mary's College of Maryland holds their annual Mulberry festival which was the vision of President Tuajuanda C. Jordan, every year on the eve of Juneteenth, the day (June 19th) commemorating the emancipation of all enslaved in the United States. Originally created in 2019, the inaugural Mulberry Music Festival featured a gospel theme and featured chart-topping recording artist Jason Nelson. I had no idea and love he's right here in MD leading his congregation. Some of Southern Maryland's favorite food vendors were on site for the festival and it was fun looking at what they had to offer (see pics) Some added mulberry infused treats like mulberry freeze dried candy, mulberry lemonade and mulberry cocktails to their menus. Icy Bites served Italian ice that was prefect for the heat. Calvert Crabs served a mulberry cocktail and you were able to add the Mulberry syrup to your drink of choice. Menu for Heidi's Eats & Sage Treats featured some Korean favorite dishes as well as BBQ bowls. Cousins Maine Lobster Truck was on the building and I was surprised up see them. I did to to them because I'm sure I would have purchased and it wouldn't have been cheap lol. Dumpstaphunk closed out the trio of bands and were great. My cousin heard they were coming to little old St. Mary's county and couldn't believe it. He made us go and we truly enjoyed ourselves dancing the evening away.

Weird such a progressive school is so backwards when it comes to the philosophy behind its policy's. Derek Young among countless others maintains this conservative philosophy as an institutionalized barrier against student progress and advancement by holding 5+ positions when he can't even pretend to fill 1 adequately. The school under hires and struggles to keep a work force but 'makes due'. They ignore student issues, skimp on safety measures and pretends that parties don't exist because that looks better on stats when in fact there are parties half the week with no safety or accountability protocols in place. 10/10 a truly beautiful campus with a great student body, but would rather pay out lawsuits then prevent them from happening.
