I am writing this review to share my experience, but also offer some much needed advice to Joanne…read moreas a business owner. I was a bridesmaid in a wedding this weekend and this is where we all went to get our hair done. Joanne was nice upon first meeting her. When she was working on my hair, she went to turn me around in the chair and somehow got the large curling iron tangled up, causing it to fall on my arm and cause a 2nd degree burn (it was red and very painful and by the time I got back to the wedding venue, I had blisters and the skin was purple). I walked down the aisle with a bruised arm covered in ointment. What bothered me most about this situation was the way she handled it. The moment after it happened, she made a comment that "oh, you moved!" Essentially right away blaming me for what happened. There were other people present who saw what happened and know that it wasn't anything that I did. I ignored the comment. She did really seem to feel bad, but do you think she helped me in any way? She grabbed me a wet paper towel to put on the burn, which did nothing. Funny thing is, the salon is located in the back of a home, I'm assuming hers. Do you think she ran up front to her freezer to grab me some ice? No, I had to run to the store right after to purchase first aid cream, bandages and ice. She then proceeded to say constantly how sorry she was and how she couldn't believe she did that. It got to a point of making things very uncomfortable. I mean, how many times do I have to say, "that's ok" and "don't beat yourself up". What struck me most, was when it was time to pay for services. I was actually quite taken aback when she didn't offer to comp my fee, or at least give me a major discount! Joanne, as a business owner, it is very important to make things right with a customer. So you would have made a few dollars less that day. But you may have had more referrals in the future and a much better review at the end of the day. For such a tiny town, it's actually surprising that there are 3 other salons besides Joanne's. Since you have a choice, you may want to consider one of the others. I have to be honest, the hair do itself wasn't all that great either. Not long after we got back, all of my hairpins were falling out as well as the braid that she did. And the updos on the other girls were a bit old school.

Hats Off located in Colebrook, is by far the best hair salon I have ever gone to. Julie is just the…read morenicest stylist/owner and the facility is super clean with lots of natural light and beautiful décor. I ALWAYS get the best compliments after getting a haircut or color. I also love that she has a tanning bed ( stand up ) and her prices are just so reasonable. I highly recommend Julie @ Hats Off, very professional, nice to talk to and just all around pleasant. It is extremely hard moving to a new town and trying to find the perfect stylist as any woman will tell you, well after trying her out for the first time last year I have been hooked ever since. Please go see Julie and tell her I sent you, I promise you won't be disappointed. Janet

I was looking for a place to tan up here and remembered hats off being a small locally owned place and found it on google. First let me say the price is more than awesome! They only have one booth but it was readily available the minute I walked in. The owner was amazingly helpful and friendly but best of all the booth was AWESOME! It is different than what I am use to. My color creeped up abut an hour later. I got more color there and stayed cooler than I have in any other booth or bed I have been in. Thank you Hats Off!!! Next I will try your hair and nail services!
