We booked our tickets for this ferry a few month in advance online. Since we needed the license…read moreplate number of our car, that was a bit of a problem, since we didn't know the plate number at the time, because we would have a rental car.
But the office was very helpful and helped me out (via E-Mail). They did a reservation for me and sent me everything by mail (PDF). Good and fast communication and friendly staff.
On the day we took the ferry we just traded our print-out papers for a ticket at the ticket booth (for cars). Quick and easy.
Boarding was very fast, Ferries cross about every 15-20mins in peak times. The ferries come in different sizes. From the simple one-level open ferry to multi-level ferries.
There is a kiosk on board, in case you're hungry. They got pretty decent arancini for fair prices. The ride is very quick. In 20min you arrive on the other side. Debarking was another quick and easy matter.
So we were very happy with Caronte. Everything went smooth, prices for a car (two ways) are fair for about 76 Euros. I'd use this service definitely again.
