His calm demeanor and his profound inner peacefulness permeates his entire being and spills over into the whole atmosphere of his state of the art offices in downtown westport. He is so intune with people on so many different levels and it's very sublte and unassuming. He is a role model for so many of the children who frequent his offices. He models the "right relationship" with correct "boundaries" during the sessions and this kind and gentle way affects and ripples into all other outside toxic relationships that his clients and patients come to him in depseration and crisis to "fix". He is a strengthener of the positive aspects of a person rather than an exposer of the weak areas of a person. I have seen the results of this in many of the clients he treats. I have met with people who have referred to themselves as therapists, ministers, pastors, and counselors. Not one of them has had the "gift" of compassion and care that Nicholas has. Instead their reviews would all get a minus 5 stars. Possibly Nicholas is just a nice person who genuinely loves people and helping them get stronger in their inner life to face the hassles of everyday life...and this in itself makes the others look weak and inefficient. I strongly encourage people to step out of their pain and uncertainty and make an appointment with Nicholas, who can truly help.

Not only that but she has been so flexible with appointments and rescheduling if I need to. I accidentally stood her up one day and she was so understanding and amazing. Atrocious. Joyce has made me fear therapy for the past two years after seeing her in 2021. She is…read moreextremely judgmental, rude, and interrupted me at nearly every sentence. I talked to her about my body insecurities and she said that I better get on Weight Watchers instead of, I don't know, offering literally any comfort. I told her once that I replaced my snacks with fruit and she rolled her eyes and said "that's caloric". Jokes on you, Joyce, I lost 60 pounds and enjoy eating dried mango every chance I get, absolutely no thanks to you. Everything I talked about went in one ear and out the other with her. In every session, I would be in the middle of a thought or a sentence and she would interrupt me to give some vaguely tangential personal anecdote or some offhand criticism. This woman is also extremely bigoted. My mother also saw her and discussed my sister who came out as transgender, and Joyce just said my sister was probably "just a confused gay boy". Disgusting and transphobic. I am sincerely wondering who gave Joyce her license to act as a therapist because they should take it back. I am genuinely concerned that someone like Joyce Colburn should not even be allowed to interact with other people in everyday life after seeing just how judgmental and rude she is. Believe me when I say I have not been in therapy for two years since seeing Joyce because she has made me fear being vulnerable with a therapist ever since. If you are looking to book a session with her, you're better off just venting to a brick wall, it'll cost you less and spare you the judgment.
