The lion does not sleep today !! He came out to play.
Susan R.

Let's see "how the lions sleep tonight!" Or actually it's today ! Remember the lions that used to be at the MGM Grand habitat are all retired here. They have been around and around now get to live out their days and existence here. The lions are all a part of a little family. They are well cared for. Remember they are still lions, as humans we are their food. Precautions have been taken to ensure their safety and yours. Respect the animals and the rules as you explore here. Please come out and visit, come and see what's happening and share the joy of the big creatures with those that you love. Are you seeking a unique experience for a special event, look no further than this beautiful creature show . While they are all on permanent vacation they feed them. And then the lions come to life and go, "rawr!" Maybe you will be here for their rawr journey. Are you looking for volunteer opportunities too. I'm not sure how you become one, but they have so many individuals that love animals that "just volunteer," they are knowledgeable about their environment too. As a local you get discounts but bring proper proof. Let's see the lions! The other animals that make up this wonderful habitat. Your visit provides the ability to feed and maintain this beautiful creature habitat too ! Rawr let's go explore !

I've always wanted to go here. Loved this place, Lions galore. twenty minutes from home. A retirement home for aging lions.... Many of the old MGM lions. Non profit. The weather was wonderful for it (March). We were worried about crowds when we parked and saw a school bus in the lot. But they had toured before opening and were on their way out. There weren't many people at all. It was so enjoyable. We watched them feed the lions and do enrichment activities for them. They also have many exotic birds as well, macaws, cockatoos, etc. so up close and personal. I highly recommend at least one visit here if you are in Las Vegas/Henderson.

Volunteer??? Visit their website Feed a Lion Tortoise Encounter and and so much more....

If you're in Vegas with kids, you have to visit Lion Habitat Ranch! This incredible small rescue is home to lions, tigers, giant tortoises , colorful parakeets, and even talking parrots. It's intimate, personal, and nothing like a big zoo -- you truly feel like you're visiting someone's home to see well-loved animals (safely, of course). You can even bring lunch, set up a picnic, and enjoy the peaceful setting while learning about these amazing animals. The care and dedication they show is obvious -- they treat every animal like family. Their website honestly doesn't do it justice -- you have to experience it in person. Simply awesome and absolutely a must-see!

First thought, smaller than I expected. Came here to do yoga with the lions which was a nice experience. The lions are all on their individual cages except for the 4 siblings who stay together. The staff was very knowledgeable and open to conversations. Overall great experience, however, I did feel bad for the lions. Seeing them captured in the small cages in the desert. There were a couple other animals there as well to see.

If you are looking for a break from the Strip, you have to check out the Lion Habitat Ranch in Henderson! It is such a hidden gem and was easily one of the highlights of our trip. First off, the lions are absolutely magnificent. Getting to see them up close (safely behind the glass) is a breathtaking experience. You can really tell how well-loved and cared for these animals are-they look healthy, happy, and some were even quite playful during our visit! The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. They clearly have a passion for conservation and were more than happy to answer all our random questions about the lions' history and daily routines.

We visited about a month or so ago, and had a great time here! It's a small place, but with so many lions to see, and up close, it was a better experience than we expected. We were even able to catch a feeding while there and that was really neat! If you have an hour or so to spare, even if you're just passing through to/from Vegas, I'd definitely stop in and check it out.

We were looking for something new to try with the kiddos during Labor Day weekend and I found the Lion Habitat Ranch on Yelp. I was surprised I hadn't heard of it before, but the reviews were positive so we figured we'd give it a chance. You book your reservation and pay online, which secures your specific time slot. We selected 10am on Monday as it was going to be well into the 100's that day. A big plus is that they allow 1 child free entry per adult ticket. We arrived a little early and waited in our car outside the gate until they opened, about 5 minutes before 10. The parking lot is small, but I imagine they only allow a set amount of reservations at a time. The checkin process entails the adults signing waivers and if there are any children, writing their name and age on the waiver. Each adult then gets a wristband and you are able to head outside. We were immediately greeted by a very kind volunteer, Jim, who informed us that they would be feeding one of the male lions soon and we could get a picture with him. We wandered around for a few minutes as the other groups were checked in and then they called us over. Since we were the first group there, they took our picture first which was nice. The photo op in the jeep with the lion behind us was a cute touch. After the photo we were free to wander around at our leisure. The next cage over was home to two male lions, brothers, and we were able to watch their feeding. The volunteer was really great at explaining what she was doing, tidbits about the lions and answered our questions. We repeated this with each cage and learned more each time. We were informed that at least one lion is selected daily for enrichment, meaning they give them extra stimulation via large balls or other things. The lion that day had baby food spread on a large ball that he would lick off and engage with. All of the lions here, with the exception of BellaDonna, are directly descendents of the lions that were on exhibit at the MGM. Belladonna is one of the remaining lions from that time. We were told that this was originally a holding place for the MGM lions when they were not on exhibit. After that closed, they moved the lions and their offspring here to live permanently. They don't actively allow the lions to mate, so they will just live out their lives here. The thing that struck me the most was how much the volunteers and staff cared about the animals. I did not get any sense that the lions and other animals were not well cared for, they seemed as happy as an animal in captivity could be. The icing on the cake was at the end the very nice volunteer, Jim, who greeted us asked the girls if they wanted to learn some more about the animals. He sat down with them and took the time to show and allow them to touch various animal artifacts, sharing knowledge about each. I can't recommend this spot enough! I even am considering volunteering here myself in the future.

We had an excellent experience at Lion Habitat Ranch. Our guide, Tyler, was absolutely awesome. He was knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about the animals, which made the entire visit even more meaningful. The private tour is, without question, the best way to experience this place. It allows you to move at a comfortable pace, ask questions, and really connect with the animals and the mission of the ranch without feeling rushed or crowded. If you are considering a visit, I strongly recommend booking a private tour and asking for Tyler if possible. It was a memorable, well-run experience that exceeded expectations.

My boyfriend and I visited the Lion Habitat Ranch for an alphabet date. We had a great time! It does look a bit run down but it's ran by a non-profit organization. We came in the middle of a very hot day in Vegas and the majority of the lions were sleeping in their a/c dens. We still got a chance to see some of them and we even caught Rocky at his 1:00 pm feeding time to get a cute photo op! We spoke to one of the volunteers who told us lions are actually the laziest cat and that only 35% of lions hunts are successful. It was cool learning new things about my favorite animal. We visited their gift shop and I came across the Fahlo bracelets. This was my first time hearing about them and I found them so cool, so my bf bought me one as a keepsake. Fahlo partners with organizations to educate and inspire wildlife conservation efforts. My bracelet' linked me to a Lion in Africa named Kwenia. Super cool!

It's a very small park but has everything that was promised. At least 10 lions parakeets turtles, ostriches and even has a small gift shop. The helpers were very knowledgeable and kind

Loved our time there. The animals were great and the educational sessions were good. They were excellent at announcing their care & training so we could attend, watch and ask questions. What would I change? Some of the plexiglass windows were scratched so it was hard to take pictures of some of the animals. I know they struggle with funding, so it's hard to really knock them on this point. Also, we would have liked more posted info on the individual animals other than their names. If not on their cages, then on the website.

Absolutely THE BEST thing I've done I Nevada ever. Took the behind the scenes tour that was super informative and we got to feed Winston! I will admit I paid a little more then anticipated for this adventure but it was beyond worth it!!! Angel or guide was super awesome and so informative. She really seemed like she was a connecting with the animals. Definitely put this on a bucket list. They are a non- profit so I know the money spent goes back to the animals! Recommendation - 10 out of 10!!!!

This place completely exceeded my expectations! You can get so close to the lions--it's unreal seeing how massive and beautiful they are up close. The staff clearly care about the animals and share a lot of cool info during the feeding and enrichment times. It's family-friendly, clean, and perfect for photos or videos (I got some great ones!). Highly recommend stopping by if you're near Vegas--it's worth every minute.

Is it still free on your birthday month?

Yes! Such a fun way to treat a friend or family member with a birthday!

How many hours is the average time to spend there? I have 2 young kids, not sure how long they can hang normally.

Well, all depends. Your young children will love Ozzy the giraffe. Assuming they are not afraid of his 17foot height, you could spend all day watching him. He paints and interacts with the trainer and you can feed him too.… Read more

Pet friendly? Can I bring my doggie to come?

Dogs are not allowed unless you are visually impared. I would definitely call ahead to confirm before bringing your furry best friend.

Is there a teacher discount?

Do I have to purchase tickets in advance ? Or I can just show up?

We just showed up. If you have cash that is best because they give discounts for cash. I believe that my daughter and I got to feed the giraffe for half price because we paid in cash.

What package will allow me into the room with those cubs? ;D

I asked the same when we went, person in office said they no longer have cubs or are not allowed to breed anymore.

Do locals receive a discount?

Yes. Also free admission the month of your birthday.… Read more

I'm very torn on this place…read more.. t's great that Vegas has an aquarium where kids can have hands-on semi educational interactions with real sea life and other exotic animals. The size of this place is deceiving, when we first walked in, I thought we would be in and out within 30-minutes. We were actually here for over two hours and every corridor we walked into offered a new smattering of lizards, bunnies, snakes, otters, huge fish, and even a massive saltwater tank filled with small sharks and stingrays. I realize a lot of the animals here are rescues, but I truly felt sorry for all of the mammals here... do they ever see the sun? Are they allowed to go outside and get fresh air? Or do they just stay inside basking in the fluorescent lights? I feel like if they had that information posted it wouldn't be as a bummer seeing capybara's, wallabies, and tons of birds, in small cages; inside of a mall. If you're local and you haven't been here yet, it's definitely worth at least one trip.

I would highly recommend visiting during cooler weather or earlier in the day so you can enjoy it longer without the heat draining you. The farm itself is a little hidden away, but they do have signs posted for parking, which made it easier to find once we got close. One thing I really liked is that admission is completely free, although they do have a donation box at the entrance if you'd like to support the farm and the animals. There were quite a few animals to see including horses, donkeys, goats, ducks, and pigs. The highlight for us was feeding the animals. Make sure you buy a bag of carrots because the animals definitely know visitors come with treats and they'll come right up to you expecting snacks. The goats especially were very eager and entertaining for the kids. I also noticed they host events here and offer pony and horse rides, which would be really fun for birthday parties or family gatherings. Even though it's a simple little farm, it turned out to be a fun and relaxing activity for kids and families looking for something different to do in Las Vegas away from the Strip. Overall, we had a good experience and would probably come back again when the weather is cooler.

It is a bit in the smaller side for an aquarium, and depending on how young or easily entertained your kids are, you may or may not be done quickly. I know my kids could probably be happy here for hours and hours though. If you aren't a local, then I'm not sure if the ticket price on top of having to pay for parking would feel worth it, but then again that is dependent on each person and what they want to do for their family. This was our first time to the shark aquarium, even though we've been living out here for about seven years, and also a first for me even going to Mandalay Bay despite visiting Vegas often before having kids and moving out here. Just from the area of walking to go to the ticket area inside, Mandalay seems very spacious and beautiful. We fully understood that the activity was intended for children ages 5 and up. However, staff scanned and accepted my daughter's ticket without any issue and allowed us to go through the entire process, which naturally led us to believe she was approved to participate. It wasn't until we reached the very front, after waiting and getting her excited for the experience, that staff suddenly stopped us and told her she could not participate. Having to tell a child at the last second that she was no longer allowed to join after already being checked in was incredibly upsetting. Our daughter immediately started crying and was devastated. My wife and I then had to step away to comfort and carry her while everyone else continued on. Because of how poorly this was handled, neither my wife nor I were able to enjoy the experience either. The issue is not the rule itself we respected the age requirement. The problem is the complete lack of communication and professionalism. If there was an issue with her eligibility, it should have been addressed before her ticket was scanned and before we waited through the line and built up her expectations. Instead of creating a positive family memory, this experience left us frustrated, embarrassed, and deeply disappointed. We spent time, money, and effort planning this outing only to have it ruined by poor organization and careless handling of the situation. Families deserve better communication and better treatment than this.
