The rooms are nice and the staff was very helpful. They even let us know there was a wine festival going on that night in the square. There is a restaurant and bar on the first floor. We visited both and I highly recommend both of them. There is also on site self parking for €9.50 per day. If you find yourself in Hildesheim, definitely stay at Van der Valk. Thank you.

This year there was just under 20 of us at the hotel. The big negative, that loses this hotel a star, is the lack of air con in the rooms, and there's no ceiling fan either so it's roasting in there during the heat of the summer. During our most recent stay we were in a ground floor room (a 'superior double' which cost a bit more than the basic room) so we weren't able to leave a window open overnight or during the day as someone could've easily climbed in. There's also no extractor fan in the en suite bathroom so expect some steaminess! Other than that, it's clean, comfortable and has free wifi. The bar prices seem reasonable, and they serve some nice chips!
