I've visited Dr Lim once nearly 10 years ago and I had such a horrible experience that I couldn't talk about it until now. Without going much into detail, her bedside manner and attitude is still the worst I've ever experienced out of all my doctor visits in my lifetime. I didn't know better since I was still young, but now being in medical field myself and even went through pregnancy etc, I now know most OB/GYNs aren't nasty and belittling like this woman was. Would love to give this doctor ZERO stars and maybe even NEGATIVE Number stars. Unprofessional, rude, inconsiderate. The staff is all confused and don't know what to do with the patients. I got asked the same questions by the staff and the doctor over again because they don't communicate. The nurse has no idea how to draw blood, I draw blood all the time and this has to be the worse ever. She kept calling other people over for then to touch my vein and ask them where she should draw from. If you want to be treated like a piece of fecal matter, Go here. Otherwise move on. If youre here, you see the already horrible reviews and know that you dont want her as a gyno. BUT before you write her off completely, let me tell you that the people that work for her are wonderful. If you never need any serious gyno work and just need a routine checkup, you can def go to any of her locations, just make sure you schedule before she gets into the office. She is constantly late when coming from her 8 Ave office, so you have a good 2 hrs after opening (usually) to schedule your appointment and see someone pleasant and nice. If you need something more serious, you may get lucky and only have to experience the unpleasantness of Dr Tse for the initial checkup and getting referred to someone more pleasant for it. I know for a fact that she does not do implant insertions and when I needed an IUD removed, she sent me to her 8 ave office where I had someone not her do it. Now if you want why I despise her as a person and a doctor, she once yelled at me while I was at reception when I was 17, letting everybody in the waiting area know my business. She at the time also had an older Chinese receptionist yell at me as well. This was my first visit. I just needed my IUD removed. They yelled at me about how expensive IUDs were (my insurance completely covered it and I knew this) I have never seen that receptionist again since then, so maybe Dr Tse realized having 2 completely terrible people (her being one of them) is bad for business. If I am being honest I think she just hates IUDs and any birth control that she cant make money on. She really likes the injection shot kind as you have to see her once a month during it, so she could make that copay money. Additionally, they do not take card. TLDR; if you have to come here, come within the first two hours so you never have to see the actual doctor. The people that work for her are generally very pleasant, with the exception of an older Chinese receptionist. Avoid seeing the actual Dr Tse at all costs. read more

Dr. Tse is a fabulous physician who treated my elderly mother recently. Her office staff went above and beyond to help my mom.

They have an office in both sheepshead bay and 8th avenue. I like the 8th avenue office because they are open on Saturdays. They are super quick and efficient here. The staff is very friendly and experienced. They are very professional and personable. I believe they do take most insurances. They're quick and I was in and out of there in a flash. Even though it is predominantly Asian, Dr. Tse, as well as most of her staff, can speak both English as well as multiple Chinese dialects. Be sure to make an early appointment to avoid a line, especially if you are a first time patient. read more

This was many years ago. In 2003-2006, I had one of the worst health insurances ever. I went to her after I went to one I felt didn't care much about my well being either because I was having problems with my Urinary Tract and I felt that a woman would understand things much better than a man would. I was wrong. Her attitude about my frequent urination was to stop drinking at night. She had such a snotty attitude about everything. When I came back to her in 2005 for birth control, she got such an attitude about me being overweight. I mean she is the type of person that if you are overweight she will yell at you no matter what. I explained to her that I was losing weight through a diet at the time. Then the problems came when I was owing money and I didn't realize at the time that with the health insurance I had was not interested in moving to the process age. They wanted me to fill out a claim for payment to get the doctor paid. The doctor's office believed in the modern age of doing things. Everything had to be done through the computer and since my health insurance had no interest in this, this doctor was not getting paid. And nobody in the office ever thought to call me and ask me to please find out what is going on with my insurance company. I found this all out after finally getting the health insurance company to pay my bill the first time I went to her in 2003 and then again in 2005. The one in 2005 was the last straw. I went to her twice. I was checked out. Everything was ok. Then six months later I got a call from collections saying I owe money. After doing extensive research with my insurance company it turns out that my health insurance was from the ice ages and that even though none of this was my fault but they couldn't accept me as a patient because of this. Five years after this I got a check for twenty-five dollars after filling out various claim forms. read more

Sooo... I've been a PT here for a couple of years.. this is what leads me to leave a terrible review... I took 3 at home pregnancy tests that came up positive. Before I was able to be seen so regular pregnancy gynecological exam (she was booked, I did make the first available appointment) I ended up having bad pains in my stomach and lower back that brought me to the emergency room at coney island. Blood test at CI hospital confirmed my pregnancy, however, my hormone level was so low that they weren't sure if I was miscarrying or in the early stages of pregnancy. Counting from my missed. I would have only been 3 1/2 - 4 weeks pregnant. My ultrasound came up negative and did not do a vaginal sonogram at the hospital. The hospital told me to follow up in two days with my personal gynecologist, to see if my hormone levels rise, which I did, which leads me to my exam today. As I'm sitting being triaged, the medical assistant had absolutely no idea what I was talking about, her English was terrible. I was pointing to my discharge papers showing her what needed to be done. A short while later I ended up in an exam room. The midwife came in and was such a sweetheart, she said that she would do bloodwork but I would have to come back for an ultrasound because the doctor wasn't in. The doctor is never in. She told me to go sit in the emergency room for hours just for bloodwork. Isn't this part of her job? Let's get something very clear also, when I made this appointment two days ago I was very specific with the girls on the phone with why I was coming and what I needed. She has got to be the worst doctor I've ever dealt with in my whole life, not only is she rude but her bedside manners suck. Karma will strike her. I went to their location at 8ave and I had a very pleasant first experience. It was only a one time visit and I planned on never going there again.The lady who examined me was outgoing, funny and kind. The girl in the front desk who answered the phone was also very nice as well. This is a great place because not only do they offer an examination, but they also offer a blood test without you ever having to ask. That was not the problem though. Here is the fucking problem: A year later, when my mother got the mail for me my mouth just fucking dropped to the center of the earth. There was a letter stating that that I was "scheduled" for an annual PAP smear. It was written on a freaking postcard that anyone can flip over and read. Way to keeping it as non discrete as you can. What was worst was that it was also translated into Chinese which my mother knows how to read. What crappy privacy policy does this office have? I gave you my number, you could have just given me a call, perhaps leave a voice mail? Do not EVER send a fucking postcard to any of your patients. EVER. Do you understand how dangerous, especially for young women if their extremely conservative family were to have found out they went to a gynecologist? They will have all shorts of imaginations. Thank god it wasn't my father who was reading it. I would have most definitely have been kicked out of the house if not beaten half to death. I would recommend this place for the service, but leave out your address when they ask for your information or explicitly state that you DO NOT want any mail from them. I just tried to make an appointment at the new Sheepshead Bay location as a new patient. The girl at the front desk took my insurance information over the phone. She took a while to search if they had accepted my private insurance. When she got back on the phone, she informed me I had to switch my PCP to their doctor. It doesn't make any sense at all since I was going there to see a gynecologist. She proceeded to tell me I would have to pay a different co pay. I, then, told her $15 vs $30 isn't a big deal. The next thing I know... I was talking to myself. She hung up on me. I called back four times with my cell and home phones. No one picked up and went straight to voicemail. They have idiots working for them. I'm so tempted to walk over a block and get her fired. That was really rude and counterproductive to get new patients in. read more

First of all their address is 1611 not 1616a So I was seeing another ob/gyn but since I moved I decided to try this place out. I came for my appointment today this morning at 10 to find out no one was even in the building. I called them up and the girl on the phone was like oh oppsie they actually have another location and they booked me for the location by 8th ave where my previous doctor was at. So ok... I was pretty sure I told them that's why I stop going to that other doctor bc the drive took me 40 minutes. The receptionist then told me how about coming back at 1pm, it'll be open then. I agreed to come back but told the receptionist I had to pick up my son from school at 2 and if it would be a problem. She assured me it was more than enough time. So I came back at 1pm. The office is nice and clean. They spoke good English. They did my initial check up and told me to go back out to wait for the doctor. 45 minutes goes by and I'm still waiting so I asked them what was taking so long?? Another lady then told me oh there isn't a doctor present not until 2!! Ok I'm pretty frustrated this time.. She tells me well they usually open at 2 but they were trying to so their clients a favor so they opened earlier but they can't help it the doctor isn't there yet. She told me to pick up my son and come back once again!! Really?? How unprofessional ! She also said some other stupid things but anyways I'm going back to my old doctor! They were forcing procedures on me, which would cost me out of pocket; i was well aware of possible risks and just didnt want extra procedures and extra expenses, which I explained to them. The office manager seemed understanding of financial concerns and insisted I come back, trying to scare me with health implications, and also promising a flat fee for initial and subsequent visit; yet, after I came back and paid out of pocket her flat fee, she billed me for more and threaten to put me in collections for the "ballance". After i tried to remind the manager of her promise she just kept yelling at me, saying I have to pay "the ballance," denying that she promised a flat fee or even acknowledging how I did not want to come back for the second visit but they vigorously insisted on a follow up. Needless to say I'm not recommending that anyone deals with their office if you have to pay anything out of pocket. Oh, as for wait times, and doctors unavailability, I agree with previous reviewers. I arranged for a babysitter only to have them tell me that doctor won't be in 5 min prior to my appointment. I agreed to wait, but was 40 min later told that doctor won't be in at all. The first time check up, everything was ok, then the second time, they told me the baby is gone with no reasons and explanation, and even the doctor didn't show up, just ask the nurse to check up for me. These people just want you to exam as many tests as possible, after they got the money, they don't care anything. stupid and really unqualified doctor. read more

I went to their Sheepshead Bay location. I was there for my annual GYN PAP. This was my second time there. The first time, I had the other, younger doctor. She was ok. This time I had Dr. Tse, and she was by far the worst GYN doctor I have ever used. She gave the worst, weirdest, and fastest breast exam I've ever experienced. It was as if she didn't know what she was doing. I can't even describe what she was doing. Also, she ordered an unnecessary diagnostic lab test without my knowledge or consent. I didn't complain of any symptoms, and she didn't mention anything to me. My insurance co. paid for it, but the test incurred a co-pay because it was diagnostic. Normally I don't have co-pays for annual GYN visits. I contacted the office regarding the co-pay for the unauthorized test and they agreed to pay it, but they never did. So I end up getting billed for the co-pay and having to argue with the lab. Also, the staff is so careless; they had my address and phone number wrong in their computer system. I will never go back to this doctor, nor do I recommend her. read more

THE MOST HORRIBLE doctor EVER! I was newly pregnant, first timer and looking for a doctor close by who would take my insurance and delivered at Maimonides. Found this one. Read reviews all over the internet and some were pretty harsh, but mixed. So I decided that at least I should see for my self. The first time she was alright, answered questions, told me to write down more questions and next visit she will address everything, since it was my first pregnancy and of course I had questions. Next time I came prepared but she looked like she was rushing, did everything quickly and was super dismissive. I reminded her that she told me to bring my questions and she made a face, turned to the computer and told me to ask what I needed, while she did not even look at me and was typing on the computer. Rude. But ok, I was there and I needed information so I started asking, and her responses were rude, dismissive or plain inappropriate, like she became condescending and shaming me! That is no way to treat a patient, especially a newly pregnant, clueless and worried woman! I later met a woman who had her third pregnancy followed by Tse and she did say that Tse was sometimes harsh, and not kind at all, but she was straight to the point and some people like that. So I figured I will keep going since it was very close to my house. I lasted 8 months and every month was thinking more and more about changing doctors, but it was hard to find anyone who would take my insurance, and have an office close enough. Finally at 8 months I switched to a midwife through Maimonides after Tse told me that she would not let me carry till 42 weeks if the baby did not come at earlier. I knew from others that carrying till 42 is allowed, provided that the baby is ok and there are no issues. She, on the other hand starting shaming me and scaring the crap out of me, YELLING! (what the hell?!) that the placenta will calcify and this and that. That was the last straw. But the biggest issue I have with her is that she is a money-hungry, greedy bitch! She made ultrasounds at EVERY VISIT! This is not required, I was not high risk, and no other doctor does this. Plus there is evidence that this is not good. Only to be done if the mother is high risk. But Tse only cared about billing for unnecessary procedures and booting you out as soon as she is finished. I finally requested the sonos not to be done in order to listen to the heartbeat and she stopped seeing me!!! If I said before the visit that I did not want an ultrasound, she had her assistant see me. They have a device to listen to the heartbeat and the sonograms are not required at every visit just to hear the heartbeat. But it cost much more and that is what she wants. She also does enemas to all her patients. If you, newly pregnant women, do not know what that is, google. She also does episiotomies to EVERY patient at birth, even if not requited. The midwife I switched to after horrible Tse understood all my concerns right away, as soon as I mentioned that I'm running away from Tse, she smiled and nodded because she knows how horrible she is. (They deliver at the same hospital). During my birth when my midwife was talking to the other midwife that accompanied her, they were discussing how Tse STILL does enemas to all her patients, and it is an outlived procedure that virtually no one does anymore. Bottom line: she is rude, dismissive, condescending, shaming, scaring, money-hungry doctor. She has no bedside manners, no compassion, no regard for her patients. She is plain scary. I hope that whoever is a newly pregnant first timer will read this, especially if you are looking for a calm, nurturing, patient and kind approach from your doctor, and also if you want to avoid unnecessary procedures like a million ultrasounds, enemas, episiotomies and what ever else she does there - STAY AWAY! read more

Going to the OBGYN is never an enjoyable or comfortable feeling. However after the recommendation of some friends and family members, Dr. Tse came highly recommended. She definitely doesn't beat around the bush and although wait times are hit or miss, sometimes youre in and out, other times there may be a wait, the doctors in the office are very compassionate, warm and welcoming. Dr Lim Tse is a no nonsense type of doctor. Not the warm and cuddly type which I did not mind with my first 2 pregnancies. She got the job done. Unfortunately my third experience was quite different. Despite requests to see her specifically, I would always get her associates who were very kind. During my entire 38 weeks of pregnancy I saw Dr Tse twice. Once at 5 month pregnant while hospitalized for a kidney infection. One other time in her office at 38 wks pregnant for routine visit when she would tell me that my daughter who my family was expecting any day no longer had a heart beat. There was no compassion. No I am sorry for your loss. She barely gave me time get me 8yo daughter (who was excited about getting another glimpse of her new sibling) out of the room. My pregnancy was a uncomplicated one, the baby never skipped a beat, so this was unexpected and devastating news. Dr Tse did not get my husband who sat in the waiting room unaware of what had happened despite my panicked pleas as I could not bare to hear this news by myself. I had to jump of the bed and get him myself. She was cold in her delivering the news. It seemed like work as usual. She handed me a referral to be seen in the ER stating that the ultrasound would be repeated but frankly she did not think the baby was alive. She proceeded to rush through the option of an induction that day or to go home it did not matter it is up to me is what she stated. We were rushed, maybe perhaps because there were 2 or 3 patients waiting; maybe because we were expecting a snow storm later that day. I for was getting prenatal care for 2mos of my pregnancy (6th and 7th mos) at Mt Sinai as it was closer to my office but decided that I wanted the doctor who delivered my first two beautiful children to deliver my third. I am now haunted by this whole experience. If there was ever a time to show some compassion or to even fake it, that was the time. I hate that Dr Tse's name is the name that appears on our beautiful precious baby girl's death certificate as she was not apart of the process and did not deliver her. I don't think she ever saw her.
