Nayana isn't just a caretaker... she's a toddler whisperer, snack sommelier, and tiny human growth architect all rolled into one. Somehow, she manages to create a space where our kids feel loved, seen, challenged, and gently nudged toward being actual geniuses. Thanks to her thoughtful curriculum, they're hitting (and let's be honest, crushing) every developmental milestone like it's a competitive sport. Letters? They know them all. Numbers? Counted, sorted, and probably color-coded. Shapes? Mastered. Arts and crafts? We're not sure if they're learning or training to become Etsy entrepreneurs. There are so many masterpieces coming home, we've had to annex fridge space and consider installing a tiny gallery wall. She wraps learning in play so seamlessly that the kids don't even realize their brains are growing faster than their shoe sizes. And the best part? They love every minute of it. Drop-offs are easy, pick-ups are joyful, and she provides nutritious snacks and meals (which is a significant stress reliever)!! Nayana has made Gateway the gold standard of early education and care. We don't know how she does it -- but we're endlessly grateful that she does.

She cares for our toddler as if she were her own--providing healthy meals, cozy sleeping cots and blankets, endless toys both indoors and outdoors in her spacious backyard, and engaging, age-appropriate learning activities. She even makes payments simple with Zelle, which is such a thoughtful convenience. Although this was a temporary arrangement, our toddler absolutely loves spending time with Nayana and the other children. Her dedication, flexibility, and genuine love for the kids have given us so much peace of mind. Nayana, we are deeply grateful for all you've done for our family. Thank you for caring for our little one during such a difficult time--you are truly appreciated!

Both teachers, Ms. Angie and Ms. Marizol, are truly wonderful with our son. They are encouraging, engaging, patient, and fun. We were told that it can take some children 1-3 months to stop crying after drop-off, but our son stopped crying after just the first week, which speaks volumes about the kindness and care they show him. What impressed us even more is how quickly we began to see growth. After just his first week, our son learned to sneeze into his arm, and we've noticed him forming his sentences more and more each day. The school provides weekly curriculum updates, which we love, and they also focus on a monthly book, reinforcing learning in a thoughtful, intentional way. It truly reflects an authentic Montessori learning style. The campus itself is adorable, spacious, and thoughtfully designed for children. The activities offered are precious and intentional, from the Thanksgiving kiddie potluck to Spirit Week and the Christmas recital. Another huge plus is that the school offers lunch and snacks for an additional $100 per month, which is very reasonable and takes a lot of daily stress off parents. The only con I would note is the number of days off throughout the year while still requiring full monthly tuition. This can be challenging, as it requires parents to take multiple days--and even weeks--off work. That said, it is the only downside we've experienced. We initially gave this school 5 stars, and while we still love and appreciate the teachers, it's important to note that a rating reflects the entire experience--including management. Since we don't deal with administration daily, it hasn't impacted us as much, but our confidence in upper management isn't what it once was. It's still a good option overall, especially because of the teachers--but don't expect the same level of excellence across the board.

He's more confident, has picked up so many new words, is forming sentences, and is becoming more independent every day--it's been beautiful to watch. The staff is incredibly kind, attentive, and thoughtful in how they care for the children and structure their weekly routines. We also really appreciate the monthly lunch menu option--it's affordable, convenient, and includes five meals per week plus snacks, which makes life so much easier. A very special shoutout to his teachers, Ms. Angelica and Ms. Marizol. They have played such a huge role in his growth and development, and it's clear how much care, patience, and intention they bring every day. Another big thank you to the director, Ms. Marissa, who does an amazing job managing the school and ensuring the grounds are always clean, welcoming, and well cared for. She truly goes above and beyond, and it shows in every detail. We're so grateful to have found a place that supports our son's growth in such a nurturing and intentional way. Highly recommend!

    Torrance Montessori School

    Torrance Montessori School

Both my son and daughter attended Torrance Montessori School…read more My son started first, from age 3-5. Then my daughter was there from 2-3. When we moved out of the area so that my son started kindergarten, that is when we unenrolled. I really like the balance between indoor/outdoor time and also between structured/open play. There is a lot of free open play built into the day's schedule which I like because the kids get to interact with each and build friendships. At the same time, there is also structure and routine. A typical day is as follows (this is when my children were enrolled so maybe this has changed a bit, you'll have to check with the school): before 9 am is open play. Lots of Montessori style toys and activities for kids to choose from. 9-11 am is academics with children being grouped by age. Their curriculum is age appropriate for that group. 11-1 pm is lunch and open play outside. The outside has plenty of space plus a playground plus flowers/plants and other items to play with. 1-2:30 pm is nap time for those who still nap. Nap is a separate building in the back away from the kids that no longer sleep so the kids can rest undisturbed. If they no longer nap, then there is an art/craft activity, spanish class, music class and/or another learning activity for those kids. 2:30-3:30 pm is open play and a snack break. I think they also offer extended care 3:30 pm - ? but I didn't have the kids in extended care, so I am not sure about the experience. I would imagine there is more open indoor/outdoor play. The teachers there have been there for many years. They are very sweet and caring but also have rules and safety expectations. They are attentive and they tune into what they see throughout the day. They will share important information or behaviors that they pick up on from your child and they will communicate. I also would go to them for advice if I was struggling with language or behaviors at home and they often would have very helpful tips to help me work on that and it often worked. This place is a very clean!! The kids are constantly washing their hands from the first moment they walk in the door and throughout the day. This place will be an amazing environment for your children. They will make strong friendships and also will be ready for elementary school. It is run by very great teachers, and it is affordable compared to all the other Montessori type schools in the area. I know because i looked into all of them and researched and compared. I was surprised that there are not a larger or students enrolled, but i think the reason is that Torrance Montessori is not an app-based school and/or a social media school. This school functions with good old fashion phone calls/and or speaking in person. My children both had a great experience here and they still have playdates with friends that they met here. I am glad I found this school when I did.

She would cry almost every morning. Even though she'd tell me she had a great day and enjoyed herself, the tears never really stopped, even after more than a year. That's when I decided to look for a new school. As soon as we found Torrance Montessori, everything changed. The dropoff tears stopped, which felt like such a relief. It truly felt like we had found the right place for her. When my son turned two, we enrolled him as well. While the school follows a Montessori approach, it also has a strong academic focus, which I've really appreciated. They offer both Spanish and Mandarin, and there's even a music class on Fridays. My daughter felt confident and well prepared going into Kindergarten, and my son, who is now four, can already write his name and count to 100. I'll admit, I don't spend much time doing extra teaching at home, so it's been impressive to see how much they've learned at school. The environment is safe, clean, and nurturing. Many of the teachers have been there for years, and it shows in how much they genuinely care about the students. If you're considering it, I'd definitely recommend taking a tour and seeing it for yourself. One last thing I want to add is that tuition was very reasonable and the lowest compared to other preschools. The hours are from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm with extended hours after.

Months went by and despite our efforts, it just wasn't happening. I started to feel a little hopeless. That's when I finally reached out to the director, Lana, to ask about enrollment and explain our situation. To my surprise and relief, she told me the school actually helps with potty training. I can't even describe the weight that lifted off my shoulders hearing that. From the very beginning, Lana has been incredibly supportive and attentive. She truly cares about the children and their families, and she is always quick to respond whenever parents have questions or concerns. Whether it's communication, guidance, or reassurance, she is always there and you can feel how invested she is in the kids and the school community. At the time, my son was also speech delayed and had dangerously low iron levels because he wasn't eating well. He relied heavily on milk and refused most solid foods. As a parent, it was incredibly stressful and worrying. But after enrolling him here, things began to change. Within just a month, I started seeing dramatic improvements. His vocabulary began to grow and he started eating better. After two months, he was fully potty trained something I once thought would take forever. Fast forward to today, he's turning 5 and is now in TK. Watching how much he has grown since those early days is truly amazing, and I credit so much of that progress to the incredible teachers here. He started in the 3-year-old preschool class with Ms. Susy, Ms. Joori, and Ms. Andrea, who were so patient and nurturing. Now in the older class, Ms. Erica and Ms. Joelyn continue to be just as supportive, caring, and attentive. Every teacher we've encountered has been phenomenal and truly treats the children like their own. The school also creates such special memories for the kids; there are field trips a few times a year and the sweetest holiday performances where parents get to watch the kids sing and perform. Those moments are priceless. This school helped my son grow in ways I honestly didn't think were possible at the time. For that, I will always be grateful.

From the start, the environment felt warm, welcoming, and genuinely focused on the kids. Our son absolutely loved going every day--he was excited to be there, which was such a relief for us as parents. During his time there, he moved up into another class and truly grew by leaps and bounds, both socially and developmentally. The play-based learning approach struck the perfect balance of fun and education, and it was clear how much thought and care went into their programs. The staff is incredible--Director Ms. Vanessa runs a tight ship while still creating a nurturing, positive atmosphere. Ms. Kiki and Ms. Alice were especially wonderful with our son, showing so much patience, kindness, and encouragement. One moment that really meant a lot to us: when we had to move out of state, they threw our son a going-away birthday party--even though his actual birthday was more than a month away. That level of thoughtfulness speaks volumes about how much they care about the kids and families. They were also very communicative throughout our time there, which we appreciated. And as a bonus, they helped solidify our son's potty training, which was a huge milestone. We only left because of our move, otherwise we would have stayed without hesitation. My husband and I are also aware of what's going on since the teachers (especially Miss Vanessa, Miss Adriana, and Miss Rosa) keep us updated in Class Dojo and also makes time to talk to us during drop off/pick up. As a mom who tends to worry, seeing my only child beam with excitement every morning gives me so much peace knowing he's in such caring and capable hands.
