If you are looking for a nice variety of vinyls this is the place. They also have CD's and even cassette tapes. I was surprised to find an Alabama Shakes album since they haven't produced anything in a while. The cashiers were super nice. I thought the prices were fair for the vinyls they had and they had lots of sale vinyls. Definitely will be back. read more

Rising from the ashes of the Exclusive Company, Lilliput is keeping it indie with new vinyl & pre-owned (aka "used") vinyl, new & used CDs, DVDs, cassettes and more! Their grand opening saw deals, raffles, live musical artists, and friendly service. I walked out with a couple of slabs of new vinyl and will have to make this a regular part of my record shopping rounds! (While Lilliput employees were part of the Exclusive Company team, Lilliput is a brand new business, and is not the Exclusive Company, my FTR missing, 20+ reviews not related to Lilliput still on the books...keeping it under the Exclusive Company previous listing is kind of a weird way to handle a Brand New Business listing, no?). Lilliput is a great spot for vinyl enthusiasts! They have a great mix of new and used vinyl for fair prices. I love how they clearly label all the LPs too for easy browsing. While they have a lot of rock, alternative and pop, they were kind of lacking in rap, hip hop, and dub, but it could have just been an off day. We ended up buying the new FKA Twigs, Radiohead, and Shin Jung-hyeon among some other rad finds. read more

I love coming here, it'd definitely one of my favorite stores in Milwaukee. There are always so many unexpected treasures to be found. It's great to come in and just flip through the vinyls and listen to the always-amazing music they have playing. I really appreciate their staff, you can call in and they will order any vinyl for you. These also end up being way cheaper than purchasing online, you just have to wait a few days. Good place for new records and RSD, but they could work on segregating the used selection. I know it's probably a pain, but part of the business, no? I love this place. If you're from Milwaukee or any suburb close, you should go. It's gorgeous, and they have every kind of record you could ask for. And, if they don't, they'll order it for you. This place is literally a safe haven: music playing overhead and kind people and seas of records that you can't really find anywhere else. Amazing, amazing record store. Sure it gives off a bit of that Portland-y hipster vibe but in a non-pretentious, super nice sorta way. The employees here are always very friendly and helpful. Since the advent of digital music I haven't bought too much music here but I used to special orders lots of obscure dance music from them back in the day and they still appear to do so. They also have lots of obscure items (odd candies, incense, etc) as well as many dvds. They usually have a clearance area with tons of dvds in the 99 cent to $4 area. U really can't go wrong with $1 movies. Several years back a ton of people were standing outside the door milling about. I stopped and asked who was there. A guy standing by the front said "Umphreys McGee" & thoughtfully pointed out to my confused expression "they're a band." So yea -- bands from time to time too. read more

Staff are always very nice, great selection of music with great prices! My only complaint is that the used section is always a bit lacking, and they don't stock too many audiophile labels like MOFI. They do have a nice jazz section but again, it id a bit small. Mainly come here if you like modern pop/rock/hip-hop those are by far their biggest sections. Prices are always very fair, can even get new vinyl here cheaper than Amazon in some cases! read more

The Farwell Exclusive has an incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff who will go out of their way to help you find what you're looking for. If they don't have it in stock, they'll get it for you. The prices are much better than than other outlets. You even save a little bit when paying with cash. The store also has a nice sized stage and has instore performances from time to time. I was jonesing to look through some records along with a sanity break from the holiday. I tried a place near my old place when I went to UWM, but yeah...they sell bongs now. Tried a little basement kinda joint on Farwell as well, but not much of a selection for the type of music I was looking for - Electronica. So, I found my way to Exclusive. I'd been here a number of times back in the day, and it's by Starbucks so I was able to get a peppermint mocha for further stress relief. Anyways, this is a good music store. It's kind of reminiscent of Twist & Shout in my hometown of Denver, but not as big. Basically, a great selection of music, independent stuff, music shirts, toys, etc. and no "good" music store is complete without a little bit of vinyl. (it's making a comeback you know) Exclusive has a solid selection of newer Electronica on vinyl, but not much in the way of used stuff. Maybe DJs just never sell their records in Milwaukee, or maybe I just perused past it. If I ever wind up back in Milwaukee, I could see myself spending a few hours in here perusing and buying some of the stuff I don't feel like paying shipping on. read more

I have already reviewed one location of The Exclusive Company, so this will be short and sweet. PROS: *Prime location on the east side -- close enough to bike/walk to unless you are planning on buying a truckload of records (record store day, anyone). *Cool space for in-store performances and record signings -- I've been to one signing here which was incredibly well-organized despite the small aisles. *Really cool, knowledgeable staff. Great recommendations, will special order if you so desire and will also point out in-store specials. No judging on your tastes or likes; I've been to plenty of record stores with stuck-up staffers. Exclusive is NOT one of those places. *Recently bought some used live CDs -- got home and found the incorrect music was there (or someone else's burned CD was there). I returned the same evening; the staff was awesome, gave me my money back, apologized, and even tried to help find something similar. Rock. *It's an independent record store, so you should know what to expect -- prices are fair and you feel good supporting a local/statewide chain. CONS: *If you want to drive here, best of luck. Finding close parking spaces without paying can be tough. *Smaller than the Greenfield/Southridge location -- an adequate selection of used material but not nearly the amount one might expect. read more

Let's talk record stores, shall we? This place is the best. Does it have the ambiance of a retro, boutique record store? No. But it's still local and independent. Just not AS independent and quaint as, say, Rushmore or Bullseye. They have the largest new vinyl selection in the city. So many albums to spend hours flipping through. And what they don't have, they can order for you and give you a jingle when it arrives. How convenient is that? Besides the selection, the staff is super helpful and friendly. I have always left with great finds (and a very empty pocket book... No restraint!) Bonus: For those who spend way too much of their disposable income on music, they have a frequent buyers club with nice perks. I just received 50% off of a new vinyl. Can't beat that! read more

Among many other tasty jams, I recently bought the vinyl single of Cameo's "Word Up" here. For $1.99. I love this place. Lots of old, reused stuff, which I love to comb through, for less than $2.99. This shop reminds me of the National Record Marts I grew up frequenting in the suburbs of Pittsburgh. It is nothing to rave about, but you can find the latest trend. Most of the LPs were new or reissues, and they had a good selection of artists. Several of the artist I was looking for had name plates, but no LPs. This may have been because National Record Store Day was the day before. I was happy to find a copy of the new Jack White LP for $17. read more

Long time customer of Exclusive Company. Growing up in Green Bay, I frequented that location when I was younger. Now I visit the Farwell store. The vinyl selection is fantastic and well organized. On occasion, I can find something good in the clearance section for a nice price. They have a lot of local band CDs and records. I usually pick through the used DVDs too. Sometimes they have local or touring bands stop in and play/sign stuff. They pack a lot into a small space, so it can get kinda tight, but that's my only real complaint I guess. Say it with me......SHUT THE FUCK UP! I've been hearing this Men's Wearhouse sounding ass my entire life and if I ever meet him he's getting throat punched Liam Neeson style. Now that we've gotten that out of the way.......HI! Records eh? It seems like the only formats music is available on today is digital or vinyl. It's anachronistic bullshit and I am party to this crap. Ever since I was a kid and I got a copy of On Our Own by Bobby Brown on the side of a box of Ghostbusters cereal I've been fascinated by records. Years later, a weekend trip to all of the local record stores is like therapy to me. One of my favorite stops is the Farwell Exclusive. Tons of new releases and stuff you never guessed would be repressed (Midtown-Forget What You Know wasn't a good album in 2004. Doubly so today.) and a lot of bad ass vintage stuff. It seems like I'm always walking up to the counter with 6-7 records that I can't live without. Recent trips have yielded Bob Mould- Workbook and Kylesa- Ultraviolet. Very diverse selection. The staff is great. They'll gladly answer any questions you've got otherwise they leave you the hell alone. Prices seem to be just about on par with what you'd find on the internet (For vinyl at least. Not sure on the CD and DVD front.) and even if you're paying a few pennies more, you're supporting a local business and you get to spin that wax TONIGHT! Great stop for any music lovers and by far my favorite store in the chain. read more

Eh, so-so. I was pretty disappointed with the selection last time I stopped in. I was hoping for some more indie music but the store caters mostly to pop-rock, metal, country/blues, rap and those types of categories. Nothing that particularly sparked my interest. You can't really beat the cash prices though. It's a neat system, pay less if you use cash, more if you use plastic. So hit up the ATM before stopping in. read more

I just went in there today, and there were having a sale 50% of all used Cd's and DVDs.They I got a couple of Cd's for $8 in total. I can't wait to go back. The staff can order any CD if they don't have in store it takes 2-3 days. You can sell Cd's and DVDs. You pay less with cash and more with a credit card or debit card. read more

I have seen record shops come and I have seen record shops go, but ever since the old Record Doctors down town at Old World Third and Wells Streets, Exclusive Company has come in first of all the stores in this part of the state. I've shopped them all; Exclusive Company comes in first...take it from a true music lover whose been at it since the tube-type radio days! I've been here several times when I was in town for business and I really enjoy this store. The staff is friendly and helpful. There are deals to be had, if you look and hunt. I was able to unload some cd's that I wanted to sell. I would have been happier if they had taken it all, but every time I come in, they try to take as much as they can.
