Our daughter has been going to the school since turning one this past July 2021; I was amazed to…read moresee her progress in just one week! Since that time, we have watched her blossom and grow and look forward to her continued success with the Goddard School. I love the monthly newsletters, spirit week, summertime activities. The attention to detail is key and I'm glad to be apart of the Goddard Community. The teachers and staff are very caring, nurturing and supportive. It's always bitter sweet when we have to move up to the next class because we've built great relationships with each teacher.

I'm giving 3 stars solely for the friendliness of the staff. My son was only enrolled for a month,…read morebut during this month I did have a few gripes regarding care. A full pack of wipes would "disappear" and I'd have to bring in way more than I used at home. Yet somehow he would still come home with a dirty butt and bad diaper rash because of not being cleaned properly at least once a week (he had never gotten diaper rash before going to Goddard and hasn't had it since he left the school). One of the teachers would also try to get me to bring in more bottles claiming my son was hungry (keep in mind he was only 5 months old at the time and I was already providing five 7oz bottles, which is one more bottle than he usually drank at home). I brought in one more thinking he was maybe just going through a growth spurt, but found he was just being overfed and would go through 5 outfits a day due to spit up because of this. Apparently every time he would make a little fuss a bottle would be stuck in his mouth regardless of whether he was hungry or not. Teachers were not on the same page with the children. One of his teachers was excellent and knew he didn't need to be overfed to quit fussing. He just needed a little attention or to be moved to a new "station". In order for care to be consistent, teachers need to be in the same page with feedings, etc. Lastly, I know Goddard claims they have a 4:1 ratio for infants to teachers, but this is definitely not the case. Almost every morning when I would drop my son off there would be around 6-8 infants with one teacher, who was scrambling to get them all fed and changed. Another teacher would come in later during the morning to help, but there should be at least 2 teachers in the room at all times with that many infants. One person can't do it all. With all that being said, the teachers and all the staff were extremely nice, my son did like them a lot, and I felt he was overall very safe in their care. However, when he goes back into daycare I will be looking elsewhere. Maybe it would have been a completely different experience if he was a little older and not an infant.

When we toured facilities a few years back, that was the first thing I noticed and it has not stopped impressing me since. I cannot imagine the amount of cleaning they have to do to keep up with so many kiddos. The food they serve is nutritious and good options. My child is a very good eater in general, but would be good for picky eaters too. The program is amazing- my daughter is 5 and knows a ton of words in Spanish as well as coming into her own with math and english skills. The teachers are incredibly warm and caring and I know that she is so loved when she is there. Additionally, it is actually secular- no prayers before meals which is a nice for people who may not be sure which path they plan to send their children on from a religious perspective. They are very respectful of parents views, and have a wonderful app to allow parents to follow along with the curriculum. I see the comment below about the runny nose thing- I have a kid with allergies and this has not proven to be a problem for us as she wipes her own nose- perhaps it just needs to be discussed better? Their covid protocols have been fantastic and not a single case in the school throughout the pandemic. I look forward to enrolling our second child in year and change when he is ready! Tuition is standard for the area, and you for sure get what you pay for!

They no…read morelonger let children come to school with just a runny nose because it's a symptom of "COVID". I took him to the doctor and they confirmed that it was in fact allergy related. Even with a doctor note stating that they still would not allow my son to return. He has no fever or cough. It's just a runny nose due to allergies. But they still expect you to pay the high tuition. If I'm paying for childcare but they won't take my son then I have no child care. I can't go to work because I have to watch my toddler. How can They expect you to pay the tuition? I feel many parents are going to face challenges with these new policies. Science Studies have shown that children are not affected like adults are with COVID. We're going into the fall which is cold season and I don't think I'm going to be the only parent who pulls their child out of this program since you will be paying for childcare but really not having any at all. Again, this school is great but I need dependability for my childcare. Not wanting to take a child because they have a runny nose is a bit ridiculous. My son doesn't have Covid. He's an active toddler who has allergies that cause his nose to run. Really unhappy that the director of this daycare couldn't work with me on finding a solution that would have kept my son in.

The camp has upgraded some of its living areas by renovating 7 of the 12 bathrooms in one of the hotel-style buildings - The Lodge. The walk overs to this build have been replaced. A railing has been installed from the driveway down to the bottom level. There is now a sidewalk from the large modern kitchen / dining hall & chapel (which is multi-purpose) to The Lodge. The sidewalk has been continued from The Lodge all the way down the road to the Retreat Center. The Retreat Center has a medium-sized kitchen, a meeting room, a conference room and accommodations. This new sidewalk means the someone who needs assistance can go from the Dining Hall/Chapel all the way down the road to the Retreat Center. The camp also has WiFi in the Dining Hall, The Lodge, and Retreat Center. It will soon have WiFi at the smaller cabin further down the road - Gerhard Cabin.

I was incredibly excited about this field trip. I was aware that the facility would require masks…read more"if indoors". Understanding and agreeing to this, if I had known this field trip would become all about masks, even while outdoors, I would have passed. That being said, my issues with the trip are more than just in regards to masks. Upon arriving, we were instructed to gather for some rules and instructions. Our children were exposed to staff members disclosing their vaccination status. I'm not sure why that mattered and was put in the intro, but absolutely UNNECESSARY. Keep that information to yourself and especially away from my innocent children's ears. If your facility and staff feel adults want to know that information, I suggest you put that on your website or communicate that to the ADULTS planning the trip. After way too long of an intro (which had children losing interest right off the bat), we split into our groups. I can't speak for my older children's group other than what they relayed to me, which was "Our teacher was boring and she talked too much. We were outside and she kept telling us to put our masks on even though we weren't near each other." My younger daughter's group played physical games which kids in this age group enjoy, however, my child injured her ankle and couldn't participate. So she sat unable to participate for the entire first half of the day. While her group did play physically, the teacher in this group also talked way too much. I can appreciate passion for things being taught but when you are dealing with children, too much talking is never good. They lose interest and don't absorb what they are being taught. I asked my children what they learned and if they want to go back they unanimously said "NO" while saying they didn't learn much. That breaks my mama heart as this was suppose to be a fun and educational day. Before leaving, I did take the time to stop into the main office and share the above info. Where I was greeted with hostile responses. I know the world is quite emotional right now but when someone gives honest feedback, it should be welcomed (good and bad). Feedback allows businesses (that care) the ability to see where room for improvement can be made. Being hostile, shows this facility does not care about its future business and does not want to grow. While I respect my children's desire to not return, have my encounter with the front office been different, perhaps I would be open to returning. But given the employees responses, we will not be back again. I'm a big believer in not just leaving a negative review without pointing out some positives... -Their facility is beautiful. -The staff (while pushy and ridiculous outdoors in regards to masking) were polite. -The day was planned well for the multiple age groups attending the event.

Tamra is an AMAZING advocate for special education students in our county as well as the disabled…read morecommunity in general. Tamra is extremely knowledgeable regarding myriad services for children and adults and is an amazing asset to families and our community. I am a single mother of 4 here in Wake County and 2 of my children are severely autistic with other differences including sensory processing issues and pica. I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Tamra when she was assigned as my child's case manager during her tenure at the CDSA (Children's Developmental Services Agency). Tamra helped me with services for my child and also gave me a lot of advice for my other child that was already in the school system with an IEP. Tamra can help with guidance during IEP meetings and advocate for your child and I can tell you from my personal experience, she will treat your child/children as if they were her own. Tamra was even attentive and answered questions for my 2 children that don't have special needs, but were learning along with me. Tamra is very professional, attentive, determined and I promise you, you would not regret having her help you navigate the complex world of disabilty services, the school system and acquiring other services. I was extremely overwhelmed when we first met because both of my children had just been diagnosed, but Tamra took us under her wing and made me feel so much more confident and comfortable with the processes. My children love Tamra and her family....it was funny because when she started working with us we found out she literally lived in the same subdivision. Tamra's family has become framily (friends that are pretty much family).....because when people go above and beyond and do so much for your family.....they often become just like family and you develop a deep connection and respect. I am so proud of Tamra for making this leap into consulting and starting her own business and I am also so extremely thankful that our community has her. You would not regret having her help you and your family......she's top notch in every way.
