Structured, sequential, simultaneous, multi-sensory teaching approaches, such as the Barton Reading & Spelling System, help students develop fundamental academic skills. The Academy offers a low student-to-teacher ratio with a complete range of core academic classes plus various electives. Park Academy is located on South Shore Blvd in Lake Oswego, about ten minutes south of downtown Portland. Park Academy is accredited by the Northwest Accreditation Commission (AdvancED) and is a designated Subscriber School with Pacific Northwest Association of Independent Schools (PNAIS). These organizations provide both program oversight and professional development resources. My Son graduated from Park Academy and I can't thank them enough for the educational opportunity they provided him. I also got involved as a school parent and it was a joy to be part of Piper Park's educational vision.

The struggles she was having in the public schools were more than they were prepared for. Ridicule was beginning because of her falling behind. School was becoming a nightmare for her. The lack of resources available made it a downward spiral. Park has the resources. The knowledge. Teachers that are prepared to handle the needs of kids with learning difficulties. The teacher ratio is a vast improvement. No child is left behind because they are encouraged. They are stimulated to learn and explore.

So nostalgic! Every time I swim in Lake Oswego I'm transported back to my childhood with long…read moresummer days spent swimming in the lake, jumping off the dock and playing on the sandy beach. The beach area is covered with lots of trees from large trees, there is plenty of room to picnic (grills available), a snack bar, restrooms, playground and lake access. This beach is closed to everyone except those that live within the boundaries of a Lake Grove School District. Fortunately I have friends who live on the canal and I'm invited out often for boat rides and to anchor and swim in the swimming hole by this beach. Water is surprisingly warmer than I ever predict, but still a cool and refreshing 77 which feels awesome on a hot summer day. This summer, 2020, we enjoyed many pop-up concerts where the band performed on a barge. Missing all the concert and movies in the park, this was a welcomed way to enjoy summer while being socially distanced. My favorite day is July 4th when the town of Lake O lights fireworks over the lake. This is open to anyone, but obviously it's super crowded so if you plan on watching from the beach, get there super early! We watch from the boat, anchoring and tying up with other boats, and then enjoy the magnificent display of fireworks and their reflection on the water while sipping wine, enjoying snacks and great conversation. It's one of my favorite nights of the year! Sadly, the fireworks were cancelled in 2020, along with most everything, but I still spent several heavenly days and evenings on the lake.

Such a good swim! i loved the park where we went swimming. Make sure to try the swimming there!!…read moreThere's a good part where you can swim too. Happy swimming!!

The security team in the lobby was always helpful and polite, and there is bike parking in the basement. For the actual course I took: I decided to attend the Intro to Programming Course (evening/part time) at Epicodus once I knew I was moving to Portland from NYC. It was a great chance to meet new people, learn some new skills, and see if I might be interested in changing careers. The Intro to Programming Course was perfect for me because it allowed me to get a taste of programming without having to commit to a full-time program and was flexible around a work schedule. The price point was also perfect for me. Our instructor Kyle was great - he was happy to be as hands-on or as laid back as each programming pair needed. I loved pair-programming - there are so many online resources that you could technically teach yourself most of the programming stuff you'd need to know... but if you're an interactive learner like me that benefits from mutual accountability.... SIGN UP FOR EPICODUS. You'll learn so much from your partners, both about programming and how to think about problem solving. This course was totally worth it!

I would have liked to have those more frequently. The constant support from career services was helpful. And I am glad that support continues post graduation.
