Despite having stayed at this hotel approximately 20 times over the past four years, I have now been screamed at by both the night desk clerk and the manager. I mean full on screamed at. I have never experienced anything like this. In both cases, the individual screaming had the wrong end of the stick. I wrote last weekend about the man in the lobby who screamed at me when I tried to pay an additional pet fee. He seemed to have an issue with customers who use Expedia. He started throwing my bank card and ID at me and singing. It was unnerving and I shared that experience with the manager the following morning. I told her it was clear from other Yelp reviews that my experience was not unique. She said her hands were tied. The owners would not let her fire him. She said he was costing them business. I agreed. Today, I discovered I was charged twice, despite paying in full on Expedia three months earlier. I called to discuss this with the manager, who has previously been very nice. She said I hadn't paid the pet fee. I said I can show her my receipts. I DID pay the pet fee. Each reads: "pet fee." THEN she said, but you had two dogs not one. I said, "Precisely! When I checked in, I told the man at the desk my friend and I each had a dog and that the online system only charged for one. I was trying to pay for the second dog. This is what led to his screaming at me." I shared all of this with this manager on Saturday morning. This woman has met both dogs -- a Corgi and a cattle dog. She has fawned all over them, particularly the Corgi. They have both stayed there on numerous occasions. She has shared with me photos of her own yellow lab. My phone call about the overbilling then goes completely off the rails. The manager starts yelling: "Your dog pooped on the bed. YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DID! YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DID!" It was utterly bizarre. She said that because they had to clean the comforter, she couldn't rent out the room. DON'T THEY ALWAYS CLEAN THE COMFORTER BETWEEN GUESTS?! Both dogs are mature adults and neither has ever "pooped" on a bed in its life. The bed is far too high up for a short-legged Corgi and an elderly cattle dog to get up on easily. My dog spent the weekend hiding in the bathroom due to high winds and rain. My friend and I both walked the room and inspected it before we left. We did have chocolates and one dog had a bacon chew toy so it is possible we got dirt on the comfortor (I will never know) and I would almost find the error funny -- the staff clearly jumped to an erroneous conclusion -- except I am still shaking from being screamed at. I had checked out three days earlier. I think this woman was waiting for my call about the double-billing -- she knew who I was immediately -- and had built up a whole head of steam and false ideas. I tried repeatedly to ask her to calm down and listen, but that was a non-starter. I've owned rentals and an Airbnb and I know damages happen. I'd have happily paid to clean the comforter if we got some sort of unusual dirt on it. I was not happy to have been screamed at and falsely accused, however. My dog and I have stayed at this location many times and have tolerated so much: broken TV, cigarette smoke, flashing lights, dirty hallways, nasty breakfasts, inoperable pool and gym . . . . On one occasion, the room I stayed in had filthy bedding and used soap in the bathroom. I think they had forgotten to clean it between guests (unless they actually don't clean comforters between guests). I didn't complain because it was at the height of the pandemic and I felt sorry for them. I've always had friendly relations with the folks at the desk, particularly the man who used to be there. I also thought the place was looking so much cleaner. But there is clearly something very wrong with the front desk operation. Maybe its tension from the past two years. Times are tough. Still, screaming at customers -- no matter what you imagine they have done, even dirtying a comforter and using Expedia -- is absolutely unacceptable and truly frightening. I will never return.

From the moment we arrived, the service was beyond hospitable. The temperature was -19. We went to the room and the heater was working so hard it was screaming! We asked for a different room because we knew we could not sleep with the noise. The night clerk immediately switched us. Although the heater in the new room was not quite as noisy, it was still pretty bad. The next morning, we asked to be moved once again. Brent said he would go into every room to find one that was quiet. He found one. The day and night were still bitterly cold, but the heater was quiet. Two days later, we wanted to have a family gathering since we had not seen all the siblings for several months. We asked for recommendations of nearby places that we could get about 25 people together for lunch and visiting. Again, the Boulders staff came to the rescue. Once the breakfast area was cleaned, they said we could use that area and the beautiful lobby area to gather our family. It was extraordinary. I cannot give the ratings they deserve! You will not stay at a better place as far as friendly people and people who are willing to do almost anything to make your stay the best.

The breakfast the following morning was delicious and had lots of hot choices of breakfast items. I did forget two coats in a closet and several days later the hotel staff mailed both of my coats to me. I would gladly stay there again. I highly recommend it.
