They met with him, built a trusting relationship and customized a program for him that focused on his learning strengths. They work with him on recognizing his weaknesses and teaching him strategies to work around them. The personal attention and care along with the excellent communication with me has been more than I could have hoped for. My student looks forward to his tutoring sessions every week which is a night and day difference, he is so confident now. The newly developed high tech office is very unique in that they have a multitude of settings in which to work, everything from a private office to conference rooms. They are right off 294 so it is pretty easy to get to as well.

(in Prospect Heights/Wheeling area) and we decided to sign her up for college planning which included individualized essay review help for the Common Application. One important factor in comparing college prep programs are the costs. What we liked about College Planning Co. is that they focus cohesively on entire process rather than solely on ACTs or SATs like popular SAT/ACT programs such as Princeton Review or Kaplan, etc. We wanted a company that could start with us from the beginning so that by the time she was ready for college, she would be fully immersed and a competitive applicant. We really liked how there was a lot of college career counseling (more individualized than what they offered at her school) and that there was a lot of advice on what she needed to be involved in. What was even more beneficial is that they also offer financial planning tools to help with FAFSA profiles and other scholarship programs. The President/Owner discussed the programs with us and told us about their ACT36 program. We did not sign her up for that program (she's super smart and studied using books) but that might be an option for certain students. I was informed that they use their own individualized instructors for this program. I really liked the location (free parking) but honestly wished it was a little closer to home. She's said things are helpful and her teachers are nice which I'm happy about. I wish I knew about this company a lot sooner (when she was a freshman) so she could take advantage of the entire process.

The last thing my family needs is another activity, but I like the flexibility of Code Ninjas. We signed up for a monthly membership for 4 hours. You sign up ahead of time for a day/time that works for you so that you don't have to commit to the same time every week. As of now the options are 4, 5 or 6pm on the weekdays and 9, 10 or 11am on Saturdays.  I've learned that you just need to sign up at least a week ahead to grab the day/time you want. I would love to see more time options on weekends- later on Saturdays and Sunday times too. My son has been 4 times so far and seems to love it more each time. He submits the actual work he's doing so that I can see it and actually play the games he's creating. His 5 year old brother absolutely loves playing his big brothers games and is begging me to sign him up for coding too. They do have a class for junior coders, but it's more of a builder class (I believe on Sat mornings) vs coding on your own. The work they do is graded by senseis and they progress to new levels similar to how it works in karate (yellow belt, etc). That keeps him and his peers extra motivated, although he seems motivated by the work itself. He's also already asking about doing a roblox camp next summer and while we have time to decide on that one it's something we'll definitely check out.

The teachers love our kids and we have been amazed at the skills our kids have acquired. As an early childhood educator myself, I struggled with the idea of putting my children in a childcare center, but Riverwoods Montessori is far beyond what you find anywhere else! I have looked at many different options for our kids, and nothing has come close to the experience we have had there. This Fall, our third child will begin his infant program at Riverwoods and it is the only place I can imagine trusting with my baby! We highly recommend their programs!

In our particular case at the Riverwoods, IL location, with only one parent teacher conference months before stressing a few correctable problems, were the director's tone was very optimistic, it was a surprise to later hear that our child is no longer welcomed. When we were told of the expulsion, the director's response, which felt more like a lecture, was very cold. We were given 7 business days, that also happened to be during a major holiday week were schools are closed and providers are unavailable/limited, to find a new care provider. The director's handling of our situation was irresponsible and disrespectful. Perhaps, if she would have suggested and worked with us to create and document a mutual plan, provide progress reports and establish a clear channel for communication, we would have had a different outcome, (or at least a better understanding and respect for how they acted.) Happily, we found wonderful care for our child who is thriving and well adjusted. I would never recommend this provider and ask other parents to reconsider placing their child under the supervision of this director.
