I was looking to get a haircut before heading out to a wedding in LA and found Lightheaded Studio while researching some places. I usually go to Asian hair salons for a quick and easy cut but I wanted to find someone that could do an actual fade this time around. Set up an appointment online and came in. I didn't know the exact name of the haircut I was getting but used a reference photo and explained how I was trying to do something similar to a textured fringe. My hair at the time was super bulky/round on the sides so I wanted to lessen that as well. Emerson worked with me and got to cutting. He gave a solid fade and was easy to talk to. Shop was clean with just Emerson running it and I'd recommend if in the area. Takes card/venmo as well. Street parking is okay around the area, just make sure you're not blocking driveways or check for street cleaning/time zones. As of October 2024 - $55.00 for a cut read more

I've had long hair my whole life and have been very nervous to chop it off, so I needed a a barber that not only knew and was confident with what they were doing, but one that was patient as I asked for their expertise and advice. Emerson was just that. He asked me for a few reference photos of something I could think of, outlined the shape of my face and gave me some suggestions. The best part was, we started off cutting off my hair little by little until I saw something I liked. He is very much "I can offer you suggestions but this is your hair." And I appreciated that so much about him. He even offered to show me the best way he thinks I can style my new cut once I was super excited for a length I could see myself rocking for a while. The location itself has some parking in the residential areas. The barber shop inside looks amazingly homey. There was a big TV that the game was playing on, some kid toys if you bring your kid there, water, a comfortable couch to wait on, it was very clean. I love the shop and I love the people here. Most of all, I'm really impressed and glad I trusted Emerson with my new look. read more

I have found my new barber! I like that Emerson takes appointments as it allows him to pay attention to his clients. He has a lot of amenities for a barber... living room with a TV, water, bathroom, which is saying a lot in San Francisco! He's new to the neighborhood but he's been cutting hair for many years in LA. The place is new, and it really shows. Fresh paint, and clean. Definitely will be going back again. read more

I've had Emerson cut my hair for years now, since way back when he started at barber school in LA. Now that he's opened up his own shop in SF, the place is as detailed, clean, and friendly as his haircuts are. This is probably one of the most spacious and nicest set up barber shops you'll find around town. There's plenty of chairs and couches to sit around and hangout for your friends/family/significant other. Along with a big screen TV and music for entertainment to pass time while you get a haircut. It also smells clean and fresh which is one of the best parts especially in the city. Emerson is very patient, detailed and understanding to give you the best haircut you need. From clippers, to fades, and scissors, he accommodates to your needs to achieve the highest standards. He takes his time, listens to you, and doesn't rush. He even does extra things as needed such as shampoo, warm towel, and blow dry to get the best cut. He responds fast in booking appts and does not keep you waiting in the shop. Everything is also kept sanitized as you see him constantly cleaning his equipment. I highly recommend Emerson as a barber and even a better person to make you, your best in a simple experience! read more

Best haircut in years! Went to see Emerson based on the yelp reviews and was not disappointed! I've had haircuts that were twice as expensive but not nearly as good. Emerson is very friendly, attentive and makes sure that he's know how you want your hair. The studio is big, bright and very clean. I asked him for a low fade while leaving the top somewhat messy, and he did an amazing job. I will definitely be going back to him! read more

Brought my super picky husband here and cry baby son and both came out looking SO GOOOD!!! Their hair cuts were so fresh.. my husband usually has some gripe, like the fade was too high or it didn't turn out the way he wanted but Emerson truly listened and pulled off exactly what my husband wanted. I didn't take pics right after at the salon but these should do the haircuts justice! The loungy area was a nice touch and really comfortable for waiting especially for my son. 10/10 would recommend Emerson for male and kids hair cuts!!! read more

I have been coming here for the past year getting multiple different hair cuts and I can report that Emerson is a very high quality barber. My hair grows extremely fast and his cuts look good while keeping their shape for multiple months. For reference, I have super straight and fine hair with lots of it. Besides his cuts, he's just a really chill and nice dude. read more

Emerson is a hidden gem when it comes to cutting hair. His attention to detail is second to none and he will make sure that you get the best and freshest hair cut! He is very knowledgeable with hair care and always keep his tools clean. I have been his customer for about 4 years now since he was in LA and will only let him do my haircut as I have a very specific way of how I like my hair being cut. As a bonus, he is also very personable and makes you comfortable during haircut. Highly highly recommend him if you need to get your hair done! Oh he also does events too read more

It's not very often I can trust someone with cutting my hair because of how specific I tend to be with how I want my hair to look. However, I had no problem with that after seeing how my haircut turned out! Honestly one of the best cuts i've had in probably years. I will definitely come back regularly, regardless of how far I may live from sunset. I definitely recommend, you will not be disappointed :) S/O Emerson read more

First started seeing Emerson during the Pandemic when my old barber stopped cutting. It takes a lot for me to trust someone with my hair but Emerson has been nothing short of amazing. Great human being, great skills and is always open to altering your cut based on what you want. I definitely recommend hitting him if you're looking for a new barber based out in the Sunset. read more

I've known Emerson for over 10+ years - not only is he one of the friendliest and most easy going homies, but he's a great barber too. For the low price that he's charging (by sf standards), you get a slick haircut, along with a complimentary shampoo and wash, and great conversation and company. Ps since it's his place, you will be the only client at any time and you can talk about whatever you want, play whatever music you want, and watch whatever you want on his tv. Where else you going to get that kind of service in the bay? read more

There aren't that many barbers in the sunset mostly salons. But Emerson came through as pretty much the sunsets premier barber. He's super nice , studio is kept super clean and of course the cuts are fresh and exactly what you expect if not better. The great thing is appointments are easily accommodated without hesitation. I would highly recommend Emerson if your looking to try something new or if you're searching for a barber. read more
