The Worship Team was ok They only sang 2 songs and it went downhill from there. Pastor didn't seem like he even had a relationship with Jesus. He goes on and on like a catholic priest. Not motivated at all. It was really very boring, I was invited by acquaintances that 'live' in the world and who like to have Fun every Friday and Saturday night so I really thought this was a place us sinners would get convicted and hands on prayer but it's not. In fact you walk out the same way you walked in. Not life changing at all. Ver boring pastor

The greeters at the door were amazing! She assisted us with everything we needed. From helping us get to the children's wing so we could drop off our son, showing us where we could get some refreshments, she introduced us to just about everybody and amazingly enough there were very welcoming, took us to the resource area where after getting some information we were given a welcome gift, and finally walked us into the sanctuary. We were completely blown away walking in there. IT'S INCREDIBLE! There are ushers at both doors that assist everyone with getting their seating, so we were shown where to seat. We were early so we waited for service to start and surprisingly enough a few people stopped by to speak with us. Then service started and the worship team stepped on platform. Let me tell you something... that worship team is ON FIRE FOR THE LORD AND ONE OF A KIND! They are amazing!! Before I knew it I was crying because I was so moved. Then Apostle Brian Hallam came out and gave one of the best sermons I've ever heard. He teaches right out of the Bible, and doesn't hold back. I mean that in a good way. This church is hands down one of the best Holy Spirit filled churches I've ever been in. I've never felt the power of God move like it does here. It truly is remarkable and life changing. The building is small, but the congregation is growing fast! If you are new to Orthodoxy, it is common practice to stand for most of the services and sit on the floor at certain times of the Devine Liturgy, but there are chairs for those aren't able to. Our son has moved forward with becoming a Catechumen at St. Silouan and we enjoy attending services there when we visit him on the weekends. The people are kind and welcoming. The parish priest, Father Joseph, has made a positive impact on our son's decision to pursue Christ through Holy Orthodoxy. The music is Byzantine chanting and is very calming and informative. The parish is part of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America. I love that the whole service is in English, too.

They are a warm and caring community, and I look forward to visiting again if I find myself in College Station on a Saturday night or Sunday morning. When you attend Sunday liturgy, you can come early for Matins at 8:45am (not listed on the website). Plan to stay after services for coffee hour and a chance to chat with a little snack. If you are Orthodox and visiting CS or looking for a church home, St Silouan's is a place full of life, with people of all ages. If you are curious about the Orthodox faith or looking for a place where "sacred" still means something, and Truth is eternal and unchanging, come visit. Much like understanding what it is to be an Aggie takes a couple years at Aggieland and your attendance at Midnight Yell, football games, Silver Taps, etc, you will not understand what it is to be Orthodox after attending just one liturgy. Be sure to ask questions, and remember that just as old Ags love fish who show up but know nothing of Aggieland's customs, culture, or even language, the people at St Silouan's are really glad you came, and will make you feel welcome.
