It is unfortunate that I should be the one to write the first review for this church, as I am not,…read morein fact a "believer." In spite of my lack of faith, however, this church has been such a key institution over the course of my life, that I love it and can't imagine my life without it. It's where I went to nursery school and preschool and made my first childhood friends, and it's where I went to my first Greek school class. It's where my brother and many of my cousins were christened, and it's the church that my family visited for many years during the Greek Orthodox Easter Holy Week. Its "Gold Room" is where I remember spending many a New Year's Eve during my childhood, and its Greek festivals during special weekends were where I loved eating souvlakia and loukoumades, shopping at the massive flea market set-up in the parochial school gym, and riding on the Ferris Wheel set up outside with my cousin. With or without a belief in the teachings of the Bible and Jesus, Three Hierarchs Church is an important part of who I am. I could not write a review for Three Hierarchs and fail to mention the indomitable Father Eugene Pappas, the figure who most embodies what Three Hierarchs means for everyone who has ever been there, for better or worse. He is a controversial figure in the community, and maybe that is why he is my lifelong favorite priest, and a figure whom I regard with a mixture of awe and fear. I stand among the few in my own family who view him with admiration, because many are put off by his admittedly caustic brand of humor, and his befuddling combination of sincere compassion for the community mixed with an imperious disdain for what he decries as the failure of his congregation (always changing) to better support the Church and Christianity itself by living as better Christians. I imagine he would regard my own lack of faith with disappointment, but it is what it is; you can't force faith. I think that's why I feel comfortable at Three Hierarchs, and with Father Eugene's sermons; he speaks a language that you can relate to regardless of what you might believe. My connection to this Church is more about the community, and even if I might not know, or even like, everyone who goes to Three Hierarchs, there's a realness and history that connects us all. There's a warmth to that, as soothing as the fragrant incense that the priest burns in the gilded censer that he holds as he chants the hymns of thatday's service.

I'll never forget it: I was welcomed by an usher who gave me the kind of hug that said, "You're home now." No side-eyes, no judgment--just love, warmth, and a seat in a beautiful space where I could experience the service at my own pace (and catch my breath from walking through Times Square--because whew). The music? Absolutely incredible. The choir will have you praising, swaying, and maybe even forgetting you're wearing those new shoes that weren't made for dancing. It's joyful, powerful, and real--and you don't need to know the words to feel the Spirit. Services are held at 10 AM and 1 PM, so whether you're an early bird or the kind who needs that second cup of coffee (no judgment--I've been both), there's room for you. And yes--they even have discounted parking if you get your ticket stamped. Because even in New York, Jesus is still helping you save. From programs for children to ministries for adults, the church is full of life, love, and purpose. Everyone is treated with kindness and respect. It's a place where people grow, laugh, cry, heal--and worship together. So if you're looking for a church that feels like family, sounds like heaven, and welcomes you just as you are--come through. You just might leave with a full heart, a new friend, and a joyful song stuck in your head all week.

I came to their Thursday night service. This church is currently situated inside a theatre on the third floor of a building. There is a lift in addition to stairs. The location is convenient with a subway station literally right next door. When I walked in, I was warmly welcomed by Jose (found out later he's the Associate Pastor). While the worship team isn't as glamorous as the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, the worship was heartfelt and spirit filled. You can feel the presence of the Holy Spirit among the congregation. I much preferred the more intimate worship setting here compared to the showy and flashy BT Choir. Pastor Mike delivered God's word truthfully and taught the Bible book by book, chapter by chapter, and verse by verse so nothing was taken out of context. My soul was fed and satisfied. People here are diverse and everyone is super friendly. You can tell that people here truly love Jesus and are ministering in this city that is hostile toward God. Yes I like it here a lot…read more Rev. John. P. Blondo is one one those pastors I get! He kept it oh so real with his congregation. His wife is such a prayer warrior and I apprecilike his entire family. Full gospel church with an amazing praise and worship session lead by Rev. Steven Carey. The music is to die for, too bad Yelp has stopped allowing me to upload videos for a while now. (Only me?) It was communion Sunday and a pleasure being in a house of the Lord to partake. My only issue was the congregation isn't as welcoming as the many Churches I've been to. Usually it's a hug fest and a "thanks for coming are you gonna be back?" type of welcome vibe. At this one many in the Church (not all) were cold. Not during service or no it was all fire then! But I received some weird stares and even limp hands when we gathered for prayer. I'm posting how I felt as a first timer here in the hope that members read this and become more cognizant, a bit more open/welcoming to newbies. Don't be shy, we made a choice to be here, we WANT to be here so help bring us closer to God by your acts of kindness rather than words. Start with a simple smile.....Even I had to be the one to make the first move with an Usher who was stationed there to GREET folks. Saints, we gotta to do better. I'm definitely coming back though. And that hearty handshake as I was leaving from Rev. Blondo made up for his congregation's blunder. Pun? Maybe. The End.
