What a cool place, they have books, CDs, and musical instruments all in the same store! I could spend all day here! Prices are decent, not always the cheapest I'm sure, but not enough of a difference to have me drive to best buy instead to check cd prices... Musical gear seems to be pretty standard for pricing. The staff I've delt with over the last year do not spek English, at all. I've dealt wit 4 or 5 of them. That's cool though cause they speak music...works. If I need technical info I have to look up online before I come. That's the only inconvenience for me, but relly it's helping me get better at French anyways. As far as negotiating rices, they don't seem like that kind of place, but I'm not the one to be able to judge when I can barely scrape by communicating in French. All in all, a great place. I keep going back! Take Amex too.

This particular store is just next to the Marche Jean Talon. It is large, well lit, roomy and very well stocked with books, gifts, music etc. Archambault was founded in 1896 by Edmond Archambault, who had originally wanted to open a sheet music store. In partnership with J.A. Hurteau, a major retailer of pianos, instruments and music accessories, Mr. Archambault opened his first store on the corner of Saint Denis and Sainte Catherine Streets in Montreal. In 1919, Edmond Archambault became the store's sole owner, and in 1930, he decided to move to the corner of Berri and Sainte Catherine Streets, where he built a seven-storey building, which he dubbed the "House of the Future" and served as the home of Archambault Group's main office. I love the variety of books you can get reference, fun, children's, educational, etc. The section for games is also large and well laid out with board games, electronic ones, card ones, etc. It's just a pleasure to walk around and to get something for yourself or a friend.

Beaucoup d'espace, les livres sont bien valorisés, les sections bien indiquées. Il y a même un endroit où on peut se poser et lire. Ce qui m'a le plus marqué c'est le professionnalisme et la passion des employés. Nous devions acheter des livres pour la classe de mon amie et le personnel a vraiment aidé à trouver des ouvrages correspondant aux thèmes qu'elle souhaitait mettre de l'avant avec ses élèves. Ils ont été vraiment patients et aidants tout du long. Nous y sommes restés au moins 2h et c'était vraiment une belle expérience!
