Highly disappointed. We choose Liberty tax to file both States tax and Canadian tax as we had just imported to the county because their price seemed reasonable and had many offices which made me assume they were reliable (poor assumption). We were given expectation that were not met. The tax "specialist" could not answer most my questions; it seemed as if he didn't know any more than I did about filing across border taxes. He had us sign forms that he hadn't even filled out yet (state income tax forms). Our Canadian refund came in a timely manner but it took months to receive our one from the states which is apparently not so uncommon (not informed of that from them) but when I called to check on them, he expected me to call but said he would call and then didn't until I called back three more times. The reason I paid hundreds of dollars to get my taxes done is so I didn't have to worry about it, not the case if you file with Liberty tax. Part of the reason I didn't feel it was my job to call and check on my taxes was 1) I didn't file them, Liberty tax did and 2) I didn't trust they were actually filed because of the wishy-washy service we received. And here comes the best part, I then got a notice from the IRS saying they had to make corrections on my tax form. He incorrectly filed our taxes by nearly $10,000!!! We don't make a lot of money so that a HUGE discrepancy. So when we FINALLY received our refund, it was about a third of what we were told we were going to get. The only slight saving grace was he gave us a discount but I think we deserve a full refund seeing as our taxes were done incorrectly and we were completely deceived about the service we were getting. I appreciate anyone who chooses NOT to file their taxes at Liberty tax because you deserve better! read more
