I can not begin to express the absolutely horrible experience I had at this bank this morning. I am…read moreso angry, I am beyond words. First off, I want to say that the so called manager there, was the most unhelpful and horrible person I had ever come across in customer service, but I will get to that later. I think that if its not them, people dont care and that was her attitude.Unbelievable. Anyway, I used their ATM (I do not have an acct at BERKSHIRE) and I checked my balance before I used the ATM to make sure there was enough on my debit card. The transaction went through but at the very last minute the door that dispenses cash wouldnt open even though the screen said my 720 dollars was being dispensed. I checked my balance as well and the amount had been taken out. I was furious and I could do nothing about it. The number on the terminal, which was their number was disconnected so I had to wait 2 hours before the bank opened at 8. Meanwhile numerous people came through withdrawing money from the ATM with no problem whatsoever. At 730 the bank manager arrived and I told her what happened. She looked at my card after I explained what had happened and she told me that the ATM wasnt theirs and that it had to do with my bank card, not their faulty ATM. I asked her who the owner of the ATM was, if it wasnt BERKSHIRES and she told me , I cant tell you that. Not only did the bank take my money, all I had actually she offered me no explanation, no apoligies and no information on how to resolve the issue. She basically said, Not my problem and you are shit out of luck, Oh well. I have never been so upset. This woman needs to be fired. I have never been treated like this ever, by a bank. It weas almost as if I was being punished for not having an account there. So now its going to take me over 2 months to file a dispute and therefore an investigation into this matter. Meanwhile, I cant pay my rent, buy groceries for the week or even put gas in my car. It was everything I had and it was like no big deal to her, what did she care? This attitude says alot about the type of people that live in this area. What an awful way to treat a person.

Following this post on YELP, I was told that my ATM is limited to (2) Point of sales transactions…read moreper day along with (1) cash withdrawal per day. On a return trip from my Manhattan apartment I noticed my EZ pass said "Low balance" while exiting in Albany (It was set to auto refill $25.00) out of my ATM card. In the AM I went to the Port Henry Branch of Ticonderoga Federal Credit Union. Checked my account balance with the ATM and it stated "See Service Representative". Once I came through the door to make a $2,000.00 (Cash) deposit....once again a meeting about me was needed (Maybe I looked fidgety again). I was called into an office where i was asked if i had gotten the "Certified letter from the bank president" "No i had not gotten the letter my father signed for i just need to drop some money off & make a vehicle payment while i'm at it" I was handed a letter (Basically a copy of the letter I never got from the bank president) In short it stated that due to my review on YELP the Ticonderoga Federal Credit Union had chose to close my account and i can "Just take my business elsewhere" After being told "We'll print out a payment book for your auto loan" I stated "So from now on i have to bring a coupon and cash down to make a payment?" The teller replied "No your no longer allowed in any of Ticonderoga Federal Credit Unions Branches" After reading my truthful review on Yelp they retaliated by severely restricting my access to my ATM card for a number of weeks and then just when ahead and closed my account. I didn't mention anyone by name in my original review. So beware to those who choose this institution, If your mistreated and speak out about it, you can plan on all kinds of retaliation. They do have excellent interest rates BUT....... I've never had to change my name.

The staff at TFCU is extremely knowledgeable, professional, and polite. The line is always speedy…read moreand they are always willing to help no matter how stupid the question. The interest rates here are better than at most large banks and a lot of the services that are costly at other banks are free here. They offer free checking and savings accounts and free checks. I just ordered checks for the first time and had the option of multiple colors, they even ship them to your address, all for free! It is conveniently located in town near other stores and near major highways. They also offer online banking which is great for switching money between accounts and paying credit cards. They also send out newsletters to keep you apprised of happenings and sometimes have raffles and giveaways. They have scholarships available to high school students and also make an effort to give back to the community.
