Although I'm retired from P&WA I still do most of my financial transactions at this branch, since they know me by name here, and I did all of my banking here prior to retiring from the Middletown facility in 2011. It's a case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". I do wish they'd open a branch in the North Haven area, closer to where I live though. UPDATE: 11/2/19.... They told me in person that the refinance would be of no cost to me and that it would just swap loan holders. After they pulled my credit however the story changed, and not because of poor credit history. American Eagle informed me that if I want to take advantage of this deal I would need to pay them $1,509 up front because "the value of the car just wasn't there" ... who would have thought a car depreciates?! Now I have a negative hard pull on my credit and the story changes. The only reason I agreed to the inquiry was because they told me it would be of no cost to me. Totally unacceptable and unsatisfying. Thank you American Eagle Financial Credit Union, but no thanks on that offer.

Prompt, courteous, polite and helpful employees. My family has been members here since the early 1970's..so yes..I've seen a lot of changes over the decades. It used to be for working school teachers only and their families. I liked it better that way as it was more focused and personal. But as the years passed it slowly became moreso like a regular bank. Times change but I'm ok with what Ellafi is now. I will continue to use them in Middletown.

Their atm was not working so I had to go inside. This does not feel right when you walk in. They have a chair , no counter and it's very small. I felt uneasy but I needed my loot to shop. So I go up to this skinny Teller who was rude and the manager came over to oversee or something and she couldn't speak English well. I never seen this at a bank where you need to talk. Communication went out the window. Than this foreigner couldn't tell me about my account. I kept saying "I can't understand you" and she didn't say a word just rolled her eyes. That's when Shelly went off. I told her I'd take all my money out of the bank and close my accounts. She walked away like I wasn't there. This bank was the worst branch ever in my life. There's no Citizen's Bank her in Meriden so I drove 20-25 minutes to the Middletown, CT branch because of the postcard promotion. My rep'a name is Steven Beimier who told me step 1 was completed & I needed to to complete steps 2 & 3. I completed the 2nd & 3rd steps. I never got my promotion of $600! They claimed I didn't have a deposit in January..I am on Social Security & I do have direct deposit. The January payment was in December due to the 3rd of January being on a Sunday & then the fact that the 1st is a holiday so I received January's deposit the end of December. I live month to month & I could use any extra income. I've contacted Jessica who works in Rhode Island office. She states she will not be issuing me the $600 due to that issue which is not something I had control over. I believe I am entitled to this promotion.

Not only did they shut down the Cromwell site which made it inconvenient for the Middletown residents that live on the Cromwell/ Middletown line. because you have to drive across town to do anything that entails you entering the bank. The drive up ATM that I use to use is closed. When you go to the drive up teller there are limits to what they can do at the drive thru. I have to go to the main office and go in to make deposits to do any banking and its at a machine. I have literally waited in line and saw older people that still bank there have difficulty even making a deposit because its not a person its a big kiosk you approach to do your banking with. I would rather bank with a real bank, That have people, there in front of you to help you, not at a machine with a person on a screen that looks like they are right in the back room of the same building. Also when I have foreign checks I have to physically go into the bank / which is fine. But they literally make me wait almost a month to convert a Canadian check to American money. Sometimes its not even a big about. I had a check from my late uncles estate . They could not cash it (even though I had the court documents allowing me to ) I went down the street to the "other " bank that I use and they cashed it right there and then. Also was not a big dollar amount. Now what tops it off is the fact that they have a feature in your checking account that allows you to "LOCK" your card. And guess what ..... they still let transactions go through and charge you the courtesy fee. When I messaged the bank to let them know that was an error to see if they would reverse the charges the rep went back and forth with me via email ALL day about how they could not, how sorry they were, sure..... They have time to do that but no time to have actual people there in the bank to assist you in person. I am done. Thanks but no thanks. No need for a rebuttal.
