We purchased a fabulous branch/twig chandelier from Wish Designs. It was a massive piece that was…read moreto go above our dining room table. it arrived in a huge wooden crate and took 4 of us to get it through the door way and into the house. it barely made it through due to its size (46"x50"). it took 2 electricians to raise it and secure it in the ceiling which was 15 feet high. when finally done, it looked terrific! HOWEVER.....when we returned to the house a few weeks later (2nd home), there were small piles of what appeared to be sand on the table. i cleaned it off, but the "dust" reappeared. i called our exterminator and he confirmed that the "dust" was frass from powder post beetles in the branches. i called Merit at Wish Designs who informed me (for the very first time) that this can happen. although the lamp was treated, the beetles can survive the treatment. she sent me a small bottle of orange oil. My exterminator treated the lamp THREE times over a period of months, but to no avail!!! to tent and fumigate it would cost an additional $1200....on top of the $500 already spent on the spraying! research indicates that they could even survive the fumigation! we decided to call Merit and see if they would let us return the lamp for remuneration. at first she said no....but finally said that we could send it back and they would give us a new one after 6 weeks of watching it for beetles. i asked if they would pay the freight ($400 each way) and she replied no. then said she would get with her team and see what they could figure out. she said she would call us on Monday as it was a Friday when we spoke. that was a week ago, and we have heard NOTHING. Incidentally, the chandelier retailed for $3000 ! We had to have it removed.
