I have wavy/curly hair and nowadays hairstylists charge extra just because you have this type of hair and the prices are on the higher side. Haykoush didn't explicitly advertise that she knew how to cut this type of hair, but since my experiences this year haven't been that great for the price I was paying, I took a chance. In the questionnaire I filled out for the appointment, there was an option for curly hair, which gave me confidence to book an appointment. Haykoush has a relaxed but knowledgeable vibe, her salon is clean but not pretentious, and she did a fantastic job on my hair. Turns out she knows how to cut this type of hair. I just had my hair cut and colored by Haykoush and it's been a long, long time since I've had work done of this caliber. I had read all the great reviews and have to say she met every hope and then some. I took photos in of myself with different styles and colors over the years and asked her for advice after I expressed my own opinion. She suggested two colors, one for the highlights, and she was absolutely correct. When she finished my hair was stunning, vibrant and just the right color, cut and styling. As I sat in my car afterwards, I noticed little things she'd done that I didn't even ask for but that she knew from her many years of perfecting her craft. Haykoush is the sweetest lady and is such a talented stylist! I hadn't been to a salon in over a year and she took my one length, drabby hair and made it lovely again! For some reason, stylists ALWAYS want to cut my hair short or add bangs, use tons of product etc .but I just want someone to listen and do what I want. Haykoush does just that! I told her that I wanted to cut the split ends, keep the length as long as possible & add lighter feeling layers with lots of volume. I also don't like a lot of product in my hair. She used scissors for the layers (no razoring to feather the hair which I'm glad) and when she gave me a blow out, she used round brushes to curl instead of a curling iron to avoid damage. No added hairspray, styling balms etc. Super cool!! I'm so happy I discovered this place and will def be going back. :) read more

L-G is a small but very elegant beauty salon. The owner is extremely nice, beautiful, and very professional in her work. Had my hair fixed there a few times. I have been seeing Haykoush for the last 3 years, and she ALWAYS gets it right. I have been to other hair stylists where they take an hour or more trying to style your hair and even then may not get it done the way I wanted. Haykoush knows exactly what she is doing and gets it PERFECTLY done within minutes! I've gone to her for everything--chopping off my super long hair, dying my hair blue, purple or red, perming my hair, etc. My asian hair is very resistant to coloring or perms, but somehow she makes it stay! My perm has lasted a whole year! I lived in San Diego for a year, and would travel up to Glendale JUST to have her style my hair! My big sister has owned a Salon in Phoenix all my life so no one else ever did my hair....I found Haykoush 3 years ago and SHE IS THE BEST :) I have exceptionally long, thick, CURLY Italian locks, and Haykoush cuts, and blows drys this crazy mane to PERFECTION. I found this salon through the Yellow Pages in the early 1990s, after traveling too far and paying too much to have my long wavy frizzy hair cut and styled. Haykoush has been my stylist ever since and has seen me through many style changes over the years. She always listens carefully to my concerns and requests and gives me exactly what I ask for. She's a genius with the scissors and seems to have some kind of psychic communication with my weird hair because it always comes out perfectly. The last time I saw her she gave me a lesson on how to use a product correctly to manage my waves. Since I'm kind of a dummy about that kind of thing I really appreciated her advice and her generosity with her time. Now I can keep my hair looking good at home until it's time for my next trim. Her shop is elegant and friendly and close to home. Her prices are very reasonable. What more could you ask for? read more
