15k in market adjustments and another 7k in dealer ads
    Chris K.

Mark ups are absurd. $20k+ in just dealer ads and market adjustments. I wish manufacturers would punish greedy dealerships that do this or make it illegal to advertise without all the BS they shove on the car.

After shopping and evaluating the market and speaking to multiple dealers, Naz called and said they just received an SUV that we were looking for. Although previous conversations indicated that the price was in excess of what we were willing to pay, we decided to take a look at it. As expected, our initial offer was rejected. She was pleasant and we parted on a friendly basis. Naz called us the following day with a better offer which we accepted. She worked very hard to get this deal done and earned our respect. If you're in the market for a Lexus, we recommend that you contact Naz to see what she can do.

I recently purchased a 2022 Lexus GX from Santa Monica Lexus, and what started as a not-so-great experience turned around thanks to Mariia, my salesperson. A month prior, I had been trying to purchase this vehicle and things didn't work out and they let me walk away, and I was pleasantly surprised that it was still available when I reached out again. Mariia went above and beyond--she was attentive, patient, and truly willing to work with me to make the deal happen. Thanks to her effort and professionalism, I was finally able to drive my GX home and couldn't be happier. I give full credit to Mariia for turning this experience around; she is an outstanding person and salesperson. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is because of the dealership's practice of adding extra fees for things like GPS and appearance protection, which felt unnecessary. Other than that, the service from Mariia made the process worthwhile.

The good: I got a car I really liked. The bad: They lure and do the bait and switch. Unfortunately I had to go in solo as my boyfriend was back east. They added extras mainly GPS and Windshied protection for 1500 each!! When I said I didn't need those they said it was already installed. Blatant lie. Which I find out later after I sign that it's optional. My fault after 4 hours. This brought my monthly from 376 to 458. Basically they wouldn't show me the APR and other details until I signed. My bad I know. Man she you ask about pre-penalty payoff and refinancing. Read everything bc they are just doing a numbers and commission game with you. I paid $3k more than I should have. Just a warning for those who go in alone. They'll get you some way.

We purchased a 2013 GS350 F-sport. We had the best experience at this dealership. I had the honor of working with Golnaz Mojtahedi (Naz). She was extremely professional and patient with us making car buying GREAT again. Thank you, Thank you and thank you again.

Lexus Santa Monica is currently doing a mark up / market adjustment for their vechicles that have been sitting on their lots for over 3 weeks. They arent even accepting $500 over the MSRP offers. Guess they want to keep their car lot fully stock for show. There are other local Lexus dealerships in the area that are selling at MSRP with no mark up or market adjustment such as Longo.

Vehicle advertised as non-smoking. Definitely wasn't. Deodorizer spray didn't mask it enough... Dealer add-ons not disclosed!

Called on a preowned SUV they had for sale. Low mileage, single owner, no accidents... looking good right!? We agreed on a time the next day to meet and test drive... so far so good. Arrive and the car isn't clean and smells like smoke inside. Salesman tries to tell me it's from the wildfires... Does wildfire smoke and cigarette smoke smell similar? No, no it doesn't. Salesman knew zilch about the vehicle history or vehicle for that matter. On top of that the windshield trim is visibly deteriorating on a 3-4 year old car?... and there is only one key . In addition, there's a few dealer add on items that we all know add ZERO value but offer the dealer a huge profit. My issue is NONE of this was mentioned in the listing or during the call with the salesman BEFORE we drove an hour to Santa Monica! Overall a poor experience. I would steer clear of this and every other LAcarguy.com affiliated dealership... unless you like to like being taken advantage of...

I usually don't write negative reviews so I waited for couple weeks to see if my initial frustration with this dealership will resolve on it's own with time. It didn't because even my attempt to follow through with a nice follow up was dismissed as I haven't received a response to my email. First off, I don't want to completely discredit the entire dealership my actual dealer Houman and financial manager Ara were really nice and professional. However, my experience with the used car manager Will, used car service manager Eddie, and sales manager Jun completely missed the mark and led me to develop a distaste for the used car department of Santa Monica Lexus. To keep things short, Jun deals very aggressively when making negotiations. Instead of matching the customer's temperament while negotiating, he came in aggressive in tone and volume and even yelled for us to come back when we wanted to leave (at this point we were actually walking away from the negotiation table because we felt uncomfortable). That should have been the cue to not buy but I bought the used car with 9k miles on it because I liked the car when I test drove it. However, the car started making a noise as I was leaving the dealership after making the purchase. I called the dealership three times on my way home (first two calls were dropped during transfer to my dealer and the last one I asked to speak to a sales manager who assured me that they will take care of what whatever the issue may be when I take the care to the service center). I will spare you the play by play of everything that happened two says later when I visited a service center but essentially I had to go back and forth between the dealership and the service center while they figured out who is responsible for dealing with my situation. Will was eighth person I spoke to that day. He asked me why I didn't come to him when he's the one who's in charge of used car sales. Not the most welcome response to a customer who has been wrongly directed by multiple employees from the hour a car was purchased. Will referred to to Eddie at the service center. When I met Eddie, I immediately recognized the passive aggressive demeanor he displayed towards me as if I was a problematic customer. At the end of the day, the sound problem was not addressed despite two people hearing the noise while test driving with me because the people who heard it were not technicians (one manager and one alarm specialist) and the technician I rode with couldn't hear what I was hearing. When I asked if another technician can ride with me, Eddie said everyone else was busy with work. When I asked Will for a documentation on the problem that I brought up upon purchase and that they will address the problem if it persist, he sent me one-line the email in the photo. I was additionally told "I don't know why you worry because you still have warranty, if you're really worried you can purchase extended warranty." Oh how the tune changes once a sale is finalized. If I could do it all over again, I would have saved myself the stress and not made the purchase after the first red flag. I definitely won't be back.

I do not write reviews often, but this experience absolutely deserves one…read more Over the course of my young adult life, I have worked and negotiated five car deals for myself, my in-laws, and my wife, so I am not new to the process. This time, I was shopping for a new Tacoma TRD Sport, and my wife had a very specific build in mind. After calling seven different dealerships and visiting three in person (Hollywood, Wondries Alhambra, Glendale, DTLA, Pasadena, Culver City) I was finally able to secure exactly the truck she wanted. To be honest, the process leading up to that point was frustrating. I understand how dealerships work, and I also know how to do my homework. A lot of salespeople were telling me things I could already see myself on Toyota's inventory page, which was frustrating because it felt like some of them assumed I had not already done the research. Several dealerships kept giving me the same lines: "We can dealer trade," "What about a different color," or tried steering me toward something close instead of what we were actually asking for. One employee at another dealership even became hostile and treated my budget like it was unrealistic or imaginary (This was at Culver City). Even some of the dealerships we visited in person gave us the runaround and made us feel unwelcome. By that point, we were honestly exhausted from hearing the same overly polished "friendly" sales pitch without any real substance behind it. Then I got in touch with Internet Director Hector M., and everything changed. Hector made the process incredibly easy from the start. He understood right away that by this point, I was not willing to come in person unless we were already on the same page. While other salespeople at other places (and even at Hector's location) kept trying to pressure me into coming down first, Hector stayed calm, professional, and respectful. He listened, understood exactly what we wanted, and assured me he could get the Tacoma my wife wanted and that all I would need to do was come in and sign. That is exactly what happened. When we arrived, the deal had already been established. Since Hector is a manager, he paired us with a salesperson, Aldera, and she was just as wonderful to work with. Aldera was kind, professional, and made the process smooth and easy. She walked us through everything clearly and efficiently, and there were no issues, no confusion, and no unnecessary back-and-forth. She helped us with our trade-in and had no problem with having a pre-approval. Then, before arriving, I had already told my wife that the final "boss" in any car deal is the finance office, and I warned her ahead of time that if they got pushy with upselling, we were ready to walk out. Thankfully, that never happened. The finance person, Dani, was excellent. She walked us through our options clearly, handled everything with professionalism, and was able to transfer all of our information from our pre-approval without any problems. On top of that, she even helped us cancel the warranties and GAP coverage on my wife's trade-in. That level of helpfulness and service stood out to us. All three of these individuals, Hector, Aldera, and Dani, were an absolute pleasure to work with. Out of all the car-buying experiences I have had, this was the first one where I did not feel judged, underestimated, or insulted. Instead, we were listened to, cared for, and treated with genuine respect throughout the process. That matters. Buying a car can be stressful, especially when you know exactly what you want and just want someone to work with you honestly and professionally. Hector, Aldera, and Dani did exactly that. They restored a lot of my faith in sales experience, and I am truly grateful for how smooth they made the entire process. If you are looking for a dealership team that will actually listen, communicate clearly, respect your time, and treat you like a person instead of just another sale, I highly recommend working with them.

Let me start by saying I was originally dreading the trade in and purchase process that I put it…read moreoff for at least 3-4 months. Then I walked into Toyota of SM and met Hamid: a charming, family man who I never saw without a genuine smile. Immediately I felt put at ease. Hamid is exactly the kind of salesman you hope to meet walking into a dealership. Warm, friendly, and energetic without being pushy in the slightest. He just wanted to earn your business earnestly and genuinely. No cringey, pressure based sales tactics, or overwhelming pitches. Now, I came in with a 2024 Sequoia TRD Pro that I had financed--with super low mileage and in fantastic condition. I was also bringing in a couple offers with me so I knew where I stood. And to my wonderful surprise, Hamid not only didn't try to haggle me down, but they even offered to beat every other buyout offer by $500. Needless to say, I was constantly impressed with Hamid's warmth, professionalism and ease. The following day, I returned with my Sequoia so the appraiser could take a look at it in person (he was off the day before). And once again, Hamid and the manager respected their original offer from the day before with no attempt to adjust or haggle. Hamid then took me around to a couple different new Toyotas as I was considering leasing something new. Again, no pressure, just showing me some stock and offering incredibly competitive deals. Then I saw it: it was a used 2023 X4 M40i with one previous owner, and a spotless carfax. It was the one; and I knew right away. So Hamid and I went inside, exchanged offers only once, came to a perfectly fair deal and boom: I had the car I fell in love with without even realizing it's the perfect one I wanted. Now all that was left was the financial loan paperwork. While the loan officer spoke to the bank and collected the papers for signatures, Hamid and I got a chance to just sit and talk about life, our families, local Persian food, etc. Now I'll finish my novella with one more glowing review about Dani Molinar, the Finance Manager. She was so friendly, and had all the paperwork ready as soon as I sat down. Even still, we had time to talk a little about her adorable baby (congrats again, Dani!). She was also incredibly organized and efficient with all the paperwork to sign--she was SO organized and competent in fact that when I mentioned I had purchased all this insurance coverage through Culver City that I never used, she went digging and found me another $2,600 to take home! I truly couldn't believe it. I mean what dealership goes out of their way to make sure I don't leave even a dollar on the table. So again, thank you so much Hamid, Dani and Toyota of Santa Monica for demonstrating true professionalism and setting the bar for any future car buying--although given how effortless this team made it, I doubt I'll be going anywhere else in the future. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk
