Very pleased with this company's professionalism, knowledge and pricing. We called them for chimney inspection and cleaning. We were not oversold and actually told we did not need the cleaning and that out chimney didn't not need cleaning or any repairs. We were shown how this was determined and given a very thorough description of the inspection and recommendations for gas logs (the reason for inspection). I'm always impressed with a company that is honest and values long term service over temporary up charges. read more

He came out promptly, inspected our chimney, gave us a full write up, went over everything and taught us quite a bit about our chimney and fireplaces in general. Greg's wealth of knowledgeable was vast and informative. He informed us we only needed an inspection and not a sweep which we appreciate. He is reasonable and reliable. A friend of mine recommended Greg Gortman with Lexington Chimney Sweep, and I am echoing that recommendation. We have lived in this house for a short time, and I wanted someone to explain everything to me, as I know basically nothing about this sort of thing. I had concerns about masonry work and an existing gas line, in addition to whether or not the chimney actually needed cleaning out. Greg was friendly and professional from start to finish, and is extremely knowledgeable, which is great because I like to learn-- I want my mechanic to explain everything in detail when I have my truck serviced. We went over every part of the system from the basement to the chimney cap. I paid $80 as a flat rate inspection fee, plus $10 for a repair to the damper. I have a little bit of mortar to take care of myself (my choice). If it had needed sweeping, that would have been another $85. Considering Barnhill wanted almost $300 for inspection and sweep, and reviews I've read about bumbling chimney guys, I got a GREAT deal. I'm rarely 100% satisfied when I pay someone for work, but in this case, I truly am. A+ read more
