This is a family law firm with a heart. I met them through a marriage and family therapist whom I was going to when still married. When my Ex clearly showed no desire to be involved in the marriage, the therapist recommended Levin and Margolin. Divorce isn't easy and mine was the divorce from hell. In these times you need a support group who don't judge you, aren't taking advantage of you with all your mixed up emotions, tell you the truth of what is possible or not, and are professional, timely and ethical. This is how they treated me. My divorce tool 5 painful years. But even now years after I call Elyse Margolin for help with the nightmare issues now late Ex and his In-Laws create. She picks up the phone personally or calls me back to consul and consult. She even called me back in middle of her rare vacation from far away over a weekend when I sent an urgent news. I hired Elyse Margolin for a case that was scheduled for court. Two days before the hearing, she abruptly withdrew from the case, leaving me without representation at a critical time. After quitting, she charged me for additional services I don't believe were justified, especially given the sudden drop. This experience caused a lot of stress and financial strain. I would not recommend this attorney based on my experience. read more

Five Stars. The whole team at Levin & Margolin ALWAYS went the extra mile for me. Elyse is one of the most caring, compassionate, and fearless people I have ever met. We settled our case with a mediator and Elyse negotiated it completely fairly and in my best interest. read more

Elyse was my divorce attorney for many years, even post divorce settlement because of spousal support issues that continued to be problematic. The divorce process was complicated and contentious. Elyse was my third attorney and the only one who was willing to take this on and make sure that I would be protected. She understood my issues quickly and almost intuitively grasped the twists, turns and complicatons that were tripping others up. Elyse was determined not to let anything get overlooked and yet knew where to filter out unnecessary distractions. Her staff was fantastic and they worked as a tight unit, with good humor despite the stress. She was warm and kind, with good relationships with other attorneys, judges, accountants and court staff. She consistently responded almost immediately whenever I emailed. That alone is amazing. She was supportive, understanding and straightforward with me about what she would be able to do. She represented me with finesse, smartly quietly resolving issues, yet fiercely when necessary. She has an incredible memory for details and an ability to prioritize what is most important. She was always concerned for the my children's welfare and kindly checked in on how I was managing. With Elyse, it's personal. You are not just a client. She sees you. I honestly can't imagine a better experience. To have someone truly be a phenomenal advocate in a most difficult time is a tremendous gift. I can't recommend her enough. She's the best. read more

Dont be fooled by the 4.5 stars. This firm must pay to hide the BAD reviews. Read the comments. I hired this firm after an in person interview with Elyse. Bait and switch" Then I was given a junior associate . I needed high asset representation to protect my business and its commercial property. I was assigned Dragana , who is a junior associate that could not read a profit and loss statement and billed arbitrary numbers and hours. Hiring this firm has been far worse than my Divorce . I'm leaving this review in hopes of sparing another victim of this law Firm. Want an honest family law firm? STAY AWAY from Elyse Margolin and Associates..Run to another firm that speaks the truth and can be trusted. read more

In December 2021, I found myself in a dire situation. I was a trusting wife whose husband had sole control over our finances, investments, business, and estate.  After a 20-year marriage, where I believed that my spouse was a trustworthy, hard-working partner, I discovered that he had engaged in a pattern of illegally siphoning money from our properties through deceptive means and had hidden these assets from me. Our marriage was ending, and I had little to no funds to pursue legal representation.   I found Elyse Margolin through a referral from a trusted friend. From the first consultation to the day I met with Elyse to sign my final divorce documents, she became my guardian angel, confidant and trusted friend. Elyse demonstrated such compassion, humanity and professionalism which saved me and my son during a frightening and traumatic period in our lives. This was not as easy divorce case. Assets had been concealed in such a devious and complex manner it required the assistance of a forensic accountant to uncover. Elyse and her staff were tenacious in tracking down every account, every hidden debt (including massive tax liabilities), and uncovering every deception. Her dedication to her clients and legal expertise ensured that I could remain in my home and provide for my own future and that of my son. Elyse is a crusader for her clients. She believes in justice and doing what is right. I was the underdog in a case that could have easily left me destitute and homeless. But for the dedication and support of Elyse and her amazing staff, I would have lost everything. What happened to me is a cautionary tale of what can happen in a marriage when a spouse is entrusted to have total control of all the marital finances without oversight. I made this mistake and Elyse was there to counsel me about the importance of taking control, finding my power, and becoming the master of my destiny. If you see yourself in anything I have shared, please call Elyse Margolin and know that she will be your counselor and savior just as she was mine. read more

0 recommendation. I had a very bad experience with Elyse Margolin & her Employees. WATCH OUT THIS FIRM DO NOT SEND MONTHLY BILLS, NOR DETAILS! I hired Elyse Margolin on June 2016, Fired her 1.5 year later, on mid November 2017. Today, April 25, 2018 I receive her 1st time invoice with a Chutzpah of charging more than the $10,000 retainer she is holding. Elyse assigned inexperienced Attorney on my case, CREATED paper trails of NOTHING. I was very unhappy with their excuses for "NON-action" work. Last one was that I refused to sign & submit a declaration with numbers she did not understand. I told her helper to cancel a scheduled court appearance, she lied that "she must appear, or I will be penalized by the court". My case lost nearly a year length of negotiation. I am not done calculating the damage this office caused me. Once my case is concluded in court & the numbers are final, I Will need to sue this office. read more

I would love to start this review with how much I appreciate and enjoy Elyse and her team. I am a current client we worked hard for a year and half and were able to close out my dissolution. I am sure I couldn't have had anyone better to help me through this really difficult time and they have been nothing but excellent. As always a professional service costs and I feel as though this was as fair as I could have gotten. The "other side" had thrown us many curve balls and they helped us through all of the details and really helped do what's best for the situation. I will recommend Elyse to anyone and everyone I know that needs family law. I don't think I could have gotten better. read more

Elyse and her team are amazing! She and her staff are so talented, and professional. Her counsel in all things is full of wisdom, experience and compassion. Having Elyse on my team made all the difference in more ways than one. I truly value her and would never go to court without her. She and her talented associates are lifesavers. I am forever grateful for the day she was referred to me! Thank you! read more

Elyse Margolin is simply amazing. I WILL NOT go to court without her by my side. She is worth every penny. This woman is a shark in the courtroom, but a sweetheart to her clients. She advises me truthfully, even if it's not going looking good for me. She'll tell me what I can TRULY expect as the outcome. She comes up with strategies that blindside my ex and his attorney. I had a bad prior experience with another attorney and Elyse had to pick up the pieces and still won in court for me. This was 10 years ago. I've been out of the courtroom for many years now, but she still picked up the phone when I called her just recently for advice on something current. Trust me, you NEED Elyse Margolin in the courtroom on your side!! - Nancy Roccella read more

Sometimes things happen in our lives that are extremely unexpected, and very disheartening. When they do, it may require legal assistance! I was referred to Elyse Margolin, Family Law Practice, she and her team made all the difference for me. They immediately put me at ease, and helped me appreciate I was not alone, they would take the lead, speak for me, and protect me, that is exactly what, she and her team did. They gave me hope, when I felt none. They mediated my case, and brought me from the darkness into the light, there were of course hiccups along the way, but the end results, were so much better than I anticipated! Do I recommend Elyse, and her team, yes I do! Just know, in child custody concerns it takes time, but if you work with Elyse, and her team, and you are patient, I feel certain you too, will have positive results! Thank you, Elyse so very much for all of your help! read more

Absolutely the best family lawyer in town. Elyse and her team guided me to the successful resolution of a very complex and intense two year case, including more than 15 days of trials. Elyse Margolin and her partners are simply the best. I've been lucky enough to work with a few lawyers in Beverly Hills. And it is always a pleasure to work with a strong team like Margolin's office. Elyse, Lionel, Jeffrey, and staff fight for their clients. They are knowledgeable and don't play games. I've been with other firms where that has not always been the case. Call now and set up an appointment to meet with Elyse ASAP! read more

Ms. Margolin represented me and my sister on a TRO and it was amazing on how well she defended us. She got the case dismissed as soon as she finished cross examining the claimants' witnesses. She was very professional and at the same time extremely caring for her clients always available to respond to all of our concerns. She was very well prepared for the hearing and destroyed the opposite counsel, accuser and their witnesses of their false claims, always with respect and professionally. She definitely study our case in detail, knows the law and very experience in court. I will strongly recommend her for any law issue. She also has an incredible supporting team, Nicole was also superb on everything. read more

Ms. Margolin was hired to represent me and my brother on a civil harassment restraining order case. She won the case. The request of a TRO was one among other actions by a future neighbor that is trying to stop construction of our retirement home. I was served in Lincoln, NE where I live and work, and given almost no time to respond or come to LA for the hearing. I contacted Ms. Margolin's office and they were back to me within 30 minutes. Ms. Margolin attended the first hearing for me and requested a continuation so that we could argue the case and so that I could arrange my schedule and fly to LA to participate. We communicated without any delays during four months until the hearing date. During this time she prepared the case, requested all documentation necessary, and continuously communicated with us. She was very realistic at requesting the necessary court time for the case given all the material and witnesses, which was not easy given that the plaintiff's counsel was pressing for the contrary. We met a number of times in her office to discuss and support her in preparing the case but these discussions pale relative to her preparation in court, her quickness and her ability to synthesize, structure and connect all information while on her feet (literally) in court. Her assertiveness in court is based on solid legal foundations as was evidenced by the times the judge sustained her objections. Her instincts and manners in court are also evident in the way she adjusted her cross examination tone to the different witnesses and in her exchanges with the judge and the opposite counsel. She is able to change strategies in the moment and in fact requested dismissal of our case at the end of the first day of hearing (she had requested 3 days) that is when the plaintiff presentation finished and before the defense presented our case. Even though she was prepared for 3 days of hearing, she saw an opportunity to finish this earlier and requested dismissal. The judge dismissed the cases with a reprimand to the plaintiff for misuse of public funds. Ms. Margolin is a superb lawyer and she does it all with professionalism and a high dose of humanity. read more

While they don't practice the law I needed, they were very kind and considerate in pointing me into the right direction. THANK YOU.

Hire this company at your own risk. I fired them after it became clear their way of doing business is to rack up your costs on unnecessary work without sending you monthly invoices. They do not want you to keep track of the spending or have any knowledge of what they are doing. While my ex was spending $5k per month for a lawyer who was almost the same hourly fee, this firm was charging me 4 times per month and I didn't know, because I never got a bill. They also refer you to companies (accountants, appraisers, etc) that have similar practices - high billing outside of industry norms for unnecessary work. When I kept paying fines by the judge for the actions of this lawyer, I had to fire them. When I was interviewing other lawyers to replace this shady firm, it was obvious their reputation of conning clients and then putting liens on houses or suing clients is well known as their MO. They will not send you invoices. They will do work that is unnecessary to increase your bill. Their work will not be good quality resulting in fines by the judge. Dealing with this firm was worse than my divorce. The people I trusted to have my back were actually stealing from me and stabbing me in the back. I'm now in litigation against them because I'm fighting some unethical charges and business practices. There is a common thread on these reviews. All her reviews on AVVO were terrible so she had them removed. The reviews here may not be from her clients. The first one is someone she hired for investigative work, not a client. I hired another law firm and we had to start from scratch. Nothing Elyse did could be used and only after independent eyes looked at what she did, including a retired judge, did I realize the extent of her betrayal. read more

Family law firm - Better than I had hoped for! Thanks to Elyse Margolin of Levin & Margolin I received a court decision that was more favorable than I could ever have imagined. That's not hyperbole, either. Elyse held my hand literally and figuratively throughout the entire family law proceedings. Elyse secured an arrangement that was much more favorable than previous. Thanks to Elyse I have more time with my daughter along with the stability that our daughter needs. This would not have been possible without her. One of the best assets of this law firm is their depth of knowledge of the LA County court system and its personnel. They have the experience coupled with a proven record of success that makes them the envy of other law firms. I am grateful that I was ever referred to Elyse and the staff of Levin & Margolin. read more

Elyse Margolin was recommended to me by an extremely successful lawyer working in a different practice area. She is brilliant, passionate, determined, loving, individual with a sharp memory and understanding of the law. The team that surrounds her, including Tess Cozine create a powerful synergistic effect who become a force to be reckoned with for any level of divorce scenario. Mine is a David vs Goliath situation. I am not the one with money. It has been stolen from me. Even knowing that, Elise and her team have worked tirelessly to insure an injustice is righted and I am made whole. They have cared for and protected me every step of the way. I trust them implicitly and would highly recommend their services. read more

The legal representation I received from Elyse Margolin and her team was exceptional. Ms. Margolin's professionalism, expertise and deep knowledge of family/divorce law prevented me from getting embroiled in a lengthy and costly legal battle. While Ms. Margolin handles divorce cases every day, what was most impressive was her consistent patience, understanding and compassion during this incredibly stressful and emotional time. Needless to say, the costs of a legal case were of great concern to me and I was relieved to learn that Levin & Margolin's fees were more than reasonable. I also hugely appreciated that she did not nickel and dime me when I e-mailed or called with a question. Throughout the whole process - which took much less time than I anticipated -- the firm's entire staff was equally professional, accommodating and responsive. In the end, I was extremely satisfied with the results and it is with great confidence that I highly recommend Elyse Margolin and her team. read more
