I didn't know they had a Yelp page! They started in 2021 to show people that San Francisco is safe from the Covid 19 pandemic . I have attended 4 out of the 5 years and they all have been unique as they find artists from around the world to create about 19 visual custom designed works simulation that can range from a few minutes. Each year it is different. They year they added more stuff scattered like a box where you turn the crank on one street. I didn't have time to have a go at it to see what happens, maybe you can and let me know. Best to read the website to determine what to see if you want to explore it all or just go to the main sites. You will determine how long you want to stay downtown and the light art is scattered downtown from the East Cut neighborhood, Embarcadero, Montgomery and TransAmerica building locations. I was able to see 3/4th of it before I got too tired and I didn't want to freeze to death. lol But it's a lovely once in lifetime to experience since you will never see these same images again unless they do a return to favorites! For the past 4 years my favorite was the Stock Exchange, but this year my new favorite one is the new location, TransAmerica building, great storyline, pop up for snacks and nice lounge chairs to sit back and enjoy show and it's just a lovely Venus already with the art in the Redwood park. Inside the pyramid structure they have the SF Time Capsule and rotating art exhibit during normal business hours.

Let's Glow SF is a holiday projection art display with installations all over the city. We were able to see the entire exhibit in one evening but you could also do it a little as a time as the festival stretches over 10 days. We had a great time walking the city and enjoying these massive light displays projected onto buildings. They are also accompanied by music. This event is free and fun for the whole family. The photos do not do it justice as the shows are full of motion and incredibly creative. All the displays are also very different from each other and unique so you may enjoy some a lot more than others as we did. We were able to bring our dog, which is always a plus for us and you can support small local vendors as you grab food an beverages for the walk. I will be coming back every year for this event now and I highly recommend you check it out if you haven't already!

Let's Glow SF is the country's largest holiday projection festival and this year's festival expanded to eight locations featuring 16 artists from around the world running from December 6th to 15th, 2024. The kickoff on Dec 6th started took place at the foot of Market St at 5pm. There was performances from Catalyst Arts and Circosphere, DJ music, and complimentary hot chocolate and coffee from Sunset Roasters and Marley's Treats. There was Let's Glow SF knit caps and pom pom swag. Opening remarks from Downtown SF Partnership, Let's Glow Committee and SF Mayor Breed began at 6:30pm before the art projections displayed on the Ferry Building at 7pm. The display locations: Annie Alley at 655 Market St with 3 different projections. One Bush Plaza at 1 Bust St with 1 projection. PG&E Substation at 425 Folsom St with 2 different projections. The Ferry Building at 1 Ferry Building with 3 different projections. 101 California St with 2 different projections. Pacific Coast Stock Exchange at 301 Pine St with 3 different projections. Salesforce Tower at 415 Mission St. Projection viewed from throughout Downtown. The Crossing at East Cut at 650 Main St. Illuminated inflatable sculpture. Another great free holiday festival in Downtown San Francisco. Looking forward to Let's Glow SF 2025.

Art installations spread across SF, videos playing creative visuals with sound, along epic SF buildings in and around downtown. Do yourself a favor and stop by all of them, each special, unique and amazing.

A quick tip: because of the way the Wood Line is designed, this stretch can turn into a full-on wind tunnel. Definitely layer up; it can get chilly even on a sunny day. What makes this area so special for young students is the natural layout. The rows of eucalyptus trees create built-in boundaries, which makes it much easier to manage a group while still giving them a sense of freedom and exploration. There are also spots nearby where kids can build and expand on makeshift shelters using fallen branches, perfect for imaginative play, teamwork, and a little hands-on engineering. There are often dogs off leash in this part of the Presidio, but we've never had any issues along this particular stretch. One especially memorable visit included spotting an owl nesting in the trees. A park ranger was stationed nearby to ensure the owl's safety, and my students even got to ask questions and learn more about the habitat. It turned into an unexpected and magical lesson in urban wildlife. If you're looking for a unique, outdoor San Francisco, add the Wood Line to your list.

Shhhhh. It's a secret!…read more Loved this place! Ended up there for Halloween and was so happy to see everyone there in like minded fashion had dressed up in thoughtful and original costumes. No store bought sexy nascar mechanics or purple hatted pimps here. Everything about the place exudes cool, right down the giant doomsday ray in the downstairs lobby.

Then you're directed down a long hallway, up two flights of stairs, then down a shorter hallway then you're suddenly inside what can only be described as the best makeshift treehouse you can imagine. Your 8-year-old self is in heaven! I was in awe of this place when I walked in. It's small, but they still managed to put so, so much into it! There's a portion of a ship coming out of the wall and a captain's room next to it stuffed with books I've never heard of and many, many comic books with paintings and a roll-top desk. You go a bit further inside, seeing many, many posters and paintings throughout the way, then there's the world's tiniest bar to your left with the 1970's style black and white tile chipping away on the floor in front of it. To your right there will be the world's tiniest skate ramp with another room at the top of it. That's right, in order to get inside that tiny room, you'd have to climb up the skate ramp, like you would a slide that we all attempted to climb up as kids on a playground. In the very back of that room is the stage, and to the right of the stage is, yes, that tree house everyone has talked about. There is just such a vintage feel to this place, like you're going back in time. It's simply beautiful. On this particular night, we all had the enjoyment of listening to oldies from the '50's and the '60's while we all had cheap beer and played Berlin Style ping-pong. Everyone had a blast, whether we were awesome at ping-pong or terrible at it, we all had the time of our lives! I HIGHLY recommend going at least once to check it out. Once you find it, it's worth it! I can't wait until their next event, and it's so close to the 16th and Mission BART station! The Secret Alley should be on everyone's bucket list.

Loved the artwork along the fences and garages, diverse and colorful murals created by a range of artists, focusing mainly on the topic of human rights, but everchanging and updated over time... I even found one with bunnies (if you look hard enough to notice) - Victorion, El Defensor de la Misión by Sirron Norris. According to the Balmy Street Murals main website, they apparently have a guided tour through Precita Eyes, but it probably wouldn't take more than 15 minutes to explore on your own and appreciate the talent on display. It's mostly in decent condition, and the area is typical of the Mission district, there was one homeless person we saw along the block and the smell of urine while walking through a small part, but other than that, it was clean and comfortable enough to enjoy the brief stretch of street art, and convenient after shopping at one of the stores nearby.

From what I've read, the project came together started in 2003 all thanks to some of the local neighbors that were tired of looking at 163 plain concrete steps to the top of the hill. They collected donations and raised money, selling tiles, which could be customized with names, dates, phrases, anything people wanted to add to make this project come to life. It took two years of raining money, and assembly, "opening" in 2005. The steps really are truly worth checking out, for being over 20 years old, they still have beautiful and vibrant color. I would have though the sun would have faded them, but i guess the color being baked in to the ceramic tiles really holds up. The design, is very stunning, going "from sea to the star", with so much detail, so much creativity. At the top of the steps, you can hike another set of steps up to an amazing 360 degree panorama of the city. Worth the extra 150 or so steps to go all the way up. If you're able bodied, I'd recommend checking this spot out. It's free, and in a residential neighborhood, so parking is also free and easy to find.
