I as Realtor for over 40 hears have had hundreds of homes cleaned. This is the first Yelp…read moreexperience with a dishonest company. I was in Florida helping my dads house ready for sale. While I hoped that I could get the job done while still in Florida I had to leave a few days before the scheduled job and fly back to California.
I spoke to the woman on the phone who called herself Amara, though her actual name apparently is Lashontae Wiley. She was so convincing that the home would be completely spotless that I agreed to hire her for $350 for a 2 bedroom 2 bath and lanai home. She specifically said that every single visible spot of dirt would be cleaned and the house ready for sale when they finished. So I was confident that she took pride in her work.
After they started she contacted me and said that since there are insects on the wall she would need to charge more money. I knew what she was talking about because moths had made small cocoons on walls. As it would take extra time, I gladly agreed to pay an extra $50 to wipe off the cocoons with a broom which she mistakenly said were insects which were long gone.
Later in the day, she said that she and two other cleaners had spent eight hours each at the house which at the time I unfortunately believed, (now I do not believe this at all). She complained that it took a long time so after she sent photos that were selectively taken to avoid showing the vast majority of things the did not clean I agreed to pay by Zelle. Zelle put a hold on the funds because she is not a seasoned Zelle user. I called my bank and had the funds sent because I know about the Yelp guarantee and couldn't imagine a Yelp provider lying to me about a job being done which has never happened before.
When the Realtor got there readying the house for showing they immediately called me and told me that they had never seen a worse cleaning job in their 20+ years in real estate.
This company did not clean or apparently even attempt to clean the refrigerator, microwave, most of the floors, the windowsills, they left rotting potatoes in the oven. The lanai which I had hosed out a few days earlier was left completely untouched with cigarette butts put out on the tile (she now says they don't smoke but were the only ones with access to the home, so who else could have done it)? Realtors sent me pictures of a dirty refrigerator, rotting bag of potatoes in the oven un-mopped floor, dirty drawers, uncleaned window sills etc.
How does a crew of 3 spend 8 hours each on a two bedroom house and leave a vacant home filthy? Because I believed her that the house was ready after she repeatedly told me that the job was completed but it took them 8 hours, I gave a $50 bonus. She pressured me to pay immediately telling me she had to pay her workers, now I know that she was hoping that I would pay her before the realtors saw the incomplete and inadequate job. Never once did she say that the job was harder than she expected or tried to renegotiate the price. The property was no dirtier than many other propeties, it had some dog urine which I discussed with her before the job but now is using that as an excuse why she will not refund my money or do the actual cleaning. Upon closer scrutiny of the photos that she sent me I can tell that they didn't even mop the laminate floors which are dark enough to hide dirt, they are still filthy and un-mopped.
She offered to go back but because she lied about so much I do not want her back on the property. I asked for a refund which she completely refused and started blaming me because there had been a dog there previously. I am going to file a complaint with Yelp and hire somebody else. Now I have to hire a reputable cleaning crew to finish the job. I'm a fair person, and if she had told me that she needed a few more hours to complete the job I would have considered paying her more, but instead she lied about having the job finished and left it a filthy mess not ready to put on the market. She never told me when pushing me for payment that the house was not clean. if she had been honest, the house would be on the market already. Instead we had to postpone listing the house. Why did she not tell me the job wasn't done? Does she always leave dirty refrigerators, microwaves, drawers etc.
Initially I gave a good review from 3000 from miles away based on her lies. I gave her the chance to refund my money but she refused. Worst job I have seen in over 40 years. Her current excuses only brought up AFTER being discovered by Realtors. If the job required more, she should have asked me and I would have considered it. Not leaving the house filthy. She also blatantly lied in her rebuttal, as there were zero rat droppings, in the house or garage period. They lowered and left the air-conditioning down to 61° and left the garage door to house wide open so the air conditioning had to cool the house and garage to 61° for several days.
