Interesting tour - as other reviews say it was in German but there are English pamphlets available…read more Be sure to ask for them BEFORE the tour though, I had to translate what I could for my travel companion. The tour is maybe 15 min long and in a prime location near the castle and behind St Sebald Church. The history of the prison is very interesting and well worth 3,50 euro. For students, it is 1,50 euro with ID.

Der Hase Sculpture in Nuremberg…read more Der Hase is a very unusual and quite controversial bronze sculpture by German artist Jürgen Goertz. It was designed as a bold, modern homage to the great Renaissance master Albrecht Dürer who lived and worked in Nuremberg over 500 years ago. The work is inspired by Dürer's 1502 watercolor "Young Hare," or Feldhase. This image was revolutionized Renaissance art with its lifelike detail and naturalism. For the 500th anniversary of Dürer's birth, Goertz took a modern, surreal reinterpretation. In his sculpture a massive hare is seen bursting from a decaying wooden crate with smaller hares jumping out of the crate. A human foot is crushed beneath the giant hare's enormous paw. A commentary on modern art or life perhaps? Interesting and a bit disturbing. You can locate the sculpture on the cobbled Tiergärtnertorplatz. It is in front of the Albrecht-Dürer-Haus. Visit the Haus Museum to see where Dürer lived and worked until his death in 1528. A memorable stop while exploring Nuremberg's Old Town.
