But let's be honest this location is out of the way in an exclusive area of France that is reserved for the Parisian trendies more than your average tourist. Cap Ferret is very expensive, very beautiful and very well guarded by the few tourists that even know the place exists. The food at L'Escale is typical French coastal cooking (ie: fabulous), using local caught fresh seafood that is the best I have ever tasted, so fresh, you can feel the ocean on the food. The atmosphere feels like one big family dinner, relaxed and buzzing with conversation. The view from the seating areas is of the oyster beds and local fishing boats, the land you can see across the water is Bordeaux. Grab a seat outside and for the best views. Heaven on earth (apart from one grumpy waiter who didn't like the English).
