Les Halles is the local fresh cheese, fruit, vegetable fish, and meat market in Pau. I love…read moreshopping here because everything is fresh from the farmers, you can get a poultry, meats of all type, vegetables, fruits, and flowers.
if you are a Pau, you have to go.
Some vendors in side of the building will take credit cards but not all of them, so bring cash with you and lots of small change as this is the preferred method of payment.
The market is currently under construction (May 2017) with plans to have a three storey building completed sometime in 2018 it will be huge and very very lovely so don't let the construction site turn you away. The market is divided in about three different sections on a Saturday only, they have fresh produce across the street from the market.
Monday - Friday two sections are open, fresh produce is behind the building. Everything is seasonal so some things you may not be able to find but just look around you'll find something you want.
The market is most crowded in the morning, Don't let the crowd discourage you. The vendors are very friendly they will let you taste some items depending on what it is.
