The actual roofing might look okay from the sidewalk, but the moment they packed up and left, it was obvious they have zero professionalism and zero respect for the neighbourhood.
They abandoned **huge chunks and pieces of foam board insulation** all over the place -- scattered across the yard, the driveway, the sidewalk, and even blowing into the street and neighbouring properties. Not a few scraps -- big rigid sheets broken into sharp, ugly fragments that were left behind like they didn't give a damn. These pieces are everywhere: wedged under cars, in gardens, on rooftops of sheds, and littering the alley. Every time the wind picks up (which is constantly in Montreal), more foam debris flies around NDG like ugly white confetti.
This isn't a small oversight. This is pure laziness. A proper roofing crew working on duplexes in Montreal cleans up their mess -- they use tarps, proper disposal, and actually vacuum or magnet the site before they leave. These guys just tore off the old roof, slapped on whatever they were installing, collected the cheque, and disappeared. No cleanup, no follow-up. When my neighbour finally got someone on the phone, the response was a shrug and a vague "we'll send someone when we can." Days later -- still nothing. Typical.
Cheap bid? Sure. But now the whole block is dealing with their trash, potential damage to cars and lawns, and the eyesore right in the heart of NDG. If you live in Montreal and you're thinking of hiring them because they quoted low, don't. You'll end up paying for it in time, frustration, and cleanup.
