DO NOT SHOP OR SUPPORT THIS STORE!!!!!!! My family visited here last summer on vacation. My brother, who has PTSD from his time in the military, has an emotional support dog. When we visited, we were excited to go here as everyone else had, had a wonderful experience in this shop previously. My brother's dog is well trained, and there were no issues at first. We started shopping and had asked the person working a couple of questions about things. The store employee all of the sudden started focusing on my brother's dog. The dog was completely calm and standing by my brother. The store employee then started flipping out on my brother. He said my brother's dog had jumped up on the food area. THIS DID NOT HAPPEN. The dog has never disobeyed like that or done anything like that. We were all in there and well aware it did not happen. He started going towards my brother and flipping out. If you are not aware this is absolutely something that will set off someone with PTSD, so my brother replied that did not happen. The dow was completely calm. He kept getting closer to my brother. We all started getting upset and got my brother out of there. Then my mom was paying for her item as she had already started checking out because she had accidentally bumped an item and it broke. So she, like any good person took responsibility and paid for that item. As she was paying, the guy in the store started verbally attacking her. My nephew and younger brother went back into the store to make sure this man did not attack my mom. It got so heated on his side I almost called the cops on him. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT OK.
Giving the owner the chance to make it right since many of my family members had shopped and supported her store before, my mom called to talk to her. The owner apologized for the behavior, and said it was not the first complaint she had gotten regarding the emoployee. She said she would review the tapes, and call my mom back. After reviewing the tapes and agreeing that the man's response was not ok she assured my mom that he would no longer be working at the store. She asked to have my brother come back so she could personally apologize to him. Seems like a great reaction right!!!! Until my mom returned to Manitou and found out that the owner is a liar and did not live up to her word. The man is still working there. I love the Irish culture and have spent a lot of time in Ireland, and in every experience, the Irish people are some of the nicest people I have ever met. The fact that this lady lets a man represent her culture like that is not ok. I have no respect for her or her store and will tell anyone and everyone I meet in the future, to not support this store or the people that run it. To attack a veteran with PTSD IS NOT OK. read more
