One single haupia malasada, hot and fresh
Son C.

Leonards famous malasadas in Waipahu. Hot fresh and so good without the lines like Honolulu. Quick mobile truck in outside ambiance

cinnamon malasadas
Zachary F.

got two boxes of malasadas for a coworkers birthday. We got the regular sugar and the cinnamon sugar. I've always grown up eating the regular sugar so I was a little skeptical about the cinnamon, but it was really good and it's always best fresh, but if there was extra, I just heat it up in the microwave for about 30 seconds for breakfast the next day and it was delicious. Highly recommended.

Kris O.

This particular Leonard's Bakery food truck only takes card (apple pay included). Please be patient because they're taking orders while making your malasadas fresh.

Delicious and open at 8am! Perfect local breakfast stop on our way back from the airport. They fry them fresh after you order. We will be back!

On our 4 day trip to Hawaii, we had Leonard's a total of 4 times! Nothing beats a hot, fresh malasada with a cup of coffee. This is a MUST HAVE if you are visiting Hawaii, as anything on the mainland could never compare. The service was quick and friendly, and the quality never disappoints. After trying all the flavors, I would most definitely recommend the Cinnamon and the Macadamia Nut Filled, but might as well try them all while you're here!

Nicole W.

Leonard's is popular for a reason. The donuts here are fresh and delicious. We tried the coconut and custard flavors, both were really decadent and filling. I think most donuts are best fresh and if you don't have them warm they probably won't be as good, which is where Leonard's shines. They make them fresh, I don't know if there's much to improve.

Make sure to check if it's burnt, before leaving.

Check it your box before leaving. Make sure it ain't burnt. 45 dollars worth in the trash...sad

Leonards is a local fixture for a reason. My bf and I got a half dozen of the following: Coconut Cinnamon Original Custard Macadamia Guava I am not typically someone who will wait in lines but this one is worth the wait. It honestly moves fast too. Do not let the lines or parking deter you. It will be worth it when you are enjoying a nice & warm malasada. Our favorites were the cinnamon and original.

Sarah G.

We tried Leonard's malasadas in macadamia and custard flavors: sweet, soft, and such a fun local treat. While they're super popular in Hawaii, malasadas actually come from Portugal, and I grew up eating them in Brazil where they're called "Dreams." Tasting them here brought back so many memories, and Leonard's definitely makes them worth the stop.

Custard Filling.... So good

I love Leonard's even tho it's not good for me lol... my go-to are the original and custard filled Malasada. I appreciate this food truck location being way more laid back than the Kapahulu brick & mortar. It's hard to stand and wait when you can smell the fried goodness in the air! Haha it's funny how once I catch the smell, I need it all of a sudden! Yesterday, the service was friendly and we got our order in right as they were frying up a new batch. Yum, yum, yum! Malasadas are best when eaten hot & fresh. Make sure to stand outside the car to avoid leaving a sugary mess! This Waikele location always provides plenty of napkins, so even that is a plus in my book. Thanks, Leonard's! :)

Half dozen of original malasadas

Always a must to get whenever we're back in Hawaii!!! The malasadas at Leonard's are hot, fluffy, and perfectly coated with sugary goodness. They're so addicting that we always have to eat more than one. You can choose for various types of malasadas including their original (which is sugar coated), cinnamon, or li hing. You can even get malasadas with fillings like custard, Haupia and chocolate. Every single one is good but we always like to get the original. They're so good!! This location is also convenient for us since we live on this side of town. We like how it's not crowded and the service is always friendly and super quick. Easy parking is a huge plus too. I highly recommend!!

I see why these are so popular. We got them hot and fresh these are huge and so tasty LOL I love love love the chocolate one

Ask the Community - Leonard's Bakery

Has anyone had experience taking these on a plane? (To Los Angeles) How to store them? Lol Are they even allowed? 🤷🏻‍♀️?

You can carry them on. Not sure how far you are flying them. If really far, a few secs in micro or maybe air fryer to reheat unless you don't mind them cold...

Any special orders to take back home?

Regular and my person fav.. Dobash!

Are there any butter/milk in the Malasadas? Any dairy free options?

Both milk and butter; no dairy-free option. Maybe one of the vegan cafes on island might have something suitable?

I only like fresh. Do they cook them in truck? Or best to go to the main store?

Yes, it's cooked hot and fresh at this location.

I must say that on a Sunday, this place was busy. When my son pulled a number they were at 59 and his was 67. They were so quick!!!!! He bought me the mini strawberry and cream cheese croissant and it was sooooooo delicious that we are going back today due to a missing food item from Jollibee. He got a variety of desserts and he enjoyed them all and wants to go back for more. The prices, according to him were decent.
