This place is good. Don't let the naysayers tell you otherwise. I've been to Italy, as an ambitious culinary student. And no, this place is not Italy, but it feels close to it. The pleasant welcome, the warm atmosphere, great foundations. The food is good, fried calamari was tender and crispy, a little light on the seasoning. The flatbread coated in marinara and pesto was a nice touch. Salads were standard issue, comes with the meal. For entrées my party got the shrimp and scallops over linguine in a cream sauce, chicken florentine, and fusilli al arrabiata. The first two dishes were delicious, my dish was just ok. Not really how I remembered arrabbiata, supposed to be a spicy tomato and red chili sauce. Instead, got a tomato and banana peppers sauce. Not bad, just not what I was looking for. Dessert is worth it if you have the room, go for the homemade tiramisu. Overall, great service, good food. Come get your Italian fix here. read more

Fine Italian dining consistently great! This restaurant is easy to get in and out with plenty of parking. If you want to dine with a date or want a place to celebrate it's a BYOB. Intimate and charming. I come for lunch often as my business is close. Lunch is amazingly fresh, healthy and they get that time is of the essence and I can be in and out quickly to get back to work. Yes. Yes! Yaaaaasss!!! We stopped in for a quick farewell lunch and were seated, watered, and given the first course within 10 minutes. The food was fresh, fast, and fantastic! None of us could finish our meals. The pizza and pesto bread was delicious! Service was wonderful and we felt like the staff (owner maybe??) was truly happy to see us come in. Ate here again last week. Had the veal spagna, which was as good as always. Been coming here for awhile. The food is pretty much always great, and the portions are huge. Reasonably priced as well. The chicken/veal spagna and italia are my two favorite dishes. The chicken marsala is interesting as well. Not breaded and fried like chicken marsala usually is, and the sauce isn't quite as heavy. There are a lot of good italian restaurants in the Hamilton/Trenton/Lawrenceville area. This one happens to be my favorite though. read more

This may be my first review but this place is great! They bombard you with really great home style Italian food. Pesto and bruschetta bread to start and salad following that. By the time we made it to our appetizer, fried calamari, we were already full. The calamari was delicious and tender, the entrees were humongous portions and so tasty. The atmosphere is a little loud with very dim lighting. The food is well worth the price. A must try restaurant! read more

My family and I have gone to Leondaro's II several times, and the fact that we keep going back should say something. Pros: --Endless bread basket filled with delicious bread means that I can fill up on that and take home my entree for leftovers. --The staff have always been incredibly friendly and helpful. --Most of the food we've had there has been delicious. (My favorite is the fried gnocchi. It's to die for!) Cons: --It's a small restaurant, so if they're busy it can sometimes get a bit loud and difficult to hear. --Some of the entrees that we've gotten have been just "eh" (notably, the lasagna and the "Da Vinci). These seem to the be the exception to the rule. Overall, it's a great place that we always enjoy. read more

I have been here 3 times. I preface this review with I've never paid for food from here. I have been to two Christmas parties and one retirement party here. The food has always been pretty good. I cannot remember everything that I have eaten here. Nothing stood out as being undesirable. The atmosphere feels more like someones home than a restaurant, though I'm not quite sure why. Maybe it is all the religious statues or the potted plants outside, who knows! The servers are friendly and service oriented. I think one of the reasons so many groups have parties here is that it is BYOB. This really reduces the cost, making it ideal for smaller businesses and parties. I would like to go back here for a regular sit down meal here to provide a more complete review. Food always tastes a bit different when someone else is paying for it. read more

Made a reservation for 6, arrived and were seated right away. The waitress was great and the food was exceptional! I ordered the filet mignon which came with steamed broccoli rabe and sautéed potatoes. This dish was phenomenal not to mention the steak was 9oz. All the entrees came out hot, the portions were extremely large and all together we were very happy with our experience. Last but not least the pricing was very reasonable! My visit was disappointing. The room seemed unkept, the decor was dated and stale, clearly not enough wait staff given it was Sunday dinner hour. I can live with these thing if the food was worth the lack of aesthetics, however, it was the worst Osso Bucco I can recall-- drowning in cream sauce to the degree that the other components of the dish were not readily visible. The veal was fatty and risotto was like runny rice pudding. My dinner companion ordered Chicken Abruzzi and the meal she received was a large plate of cream sauce with chicken, tomato and asparagus barely discernible under the sea of cream. So sorry to see the significant changes in the restaurant since last visiting a few years ago. We will not be back again. read more

I LOVE going to Leonardo's for lunch (it is close to where I work). I usually choose one of the specials. For instance, today I had soft-shell crab over spinach fettuchine in a saffron cream sauce with shrimp and clams. The servings are gigantic and tasty, and come with delicious focaccia and salad. I know know why I stopped coming here. The service is great, unfortunately the food has a lot to be desired. Yes the husband ate the whole bowl, he'll eat just about anything he paid for. You were a nice server I thought. Everyone that walks into a restaurant has to be considered an amateur food critic since smart phones and Yelp have been around. You also must take each criticism lightly. You'll drive yourself crazy if you take everything in Yelp too seriously. We came here to celebrate my mom's birthday. There was something on the menu for everyone in our party, ages 4-82! For apps, the Eggplant Rollatini & Fried Zucchini are both really good. My favorite entree was the Fried Gnocchi with crab in Gorgonzola Cream sauce. The Gnocchi were crisp on the outside, but tender on the inside. The sauce has plenty of lump crabmeat & the sauce was flavorful, without being overpowering. The owner, Robert, & his staff were very accommodating & helped make for a nice birthday meal. We're local and decided to give Leonardo's a try for our anniversary. The staff was very friendly, from greeting to seating and throughout the meal. Attentive, but they didn't "hover". The atmosphere was middle-of-the-road... nothing tacky, nothing posh, just clean and acceptable. So far, so good. Our entrees really upped our opinion of Leonardo's -- other reviewers say the portions are large, and it's true. You get a lot of food for the money and be prepared to take some home if you enjoyed it! Big plates, and they're loaded up. My eggplant parmigiana was an absolute treat... the sauce was tasty and the eggplant was so perfectly done, just tender and delicious. I've gotten bitter eggplant at other restaurants and thankfully it was done right at Leonardo's. My wife's chicken francese was also delightfully prepared... quality chicken, nicely breaded, and tasty garlic-butter sauce. We finished it off with a tiramisu each, which our server recommended highly. Definitely an appropriate recommendation -- it was dynamite. Prices were fair and service was good, and the meal was fantastic. We'll definitely come back. I could live on their eggplant parm, personally. So good. read more

we had gone to this restaurant couple of years ago and it was very good and regret not writing a review then because I would have given it 4 stars. . However, we went there couple of weeks ago and I thought the quality of the food has gone down. We had ordered 4 different things and except for the alfredo pasta, the rest of the pastas were very very watery sauces. My son & daughter who love italian food and were craving to go to Leanordaos came home disappointed and I guess we may not visit them unless we hear more positive reviews from friends. The owners were very polite and helpful but I think the wait staff we had this time wasn't very good read more
