I can't recommend these guys. I ordered frames and lenses from their selection at Ala Moana, they were inexpensive, but used poor materials. The film on the lenses they sold started flaking off very quickly, in around six months, and leaving a constant milky look on the each of the lenses. I had my eye exam done at another doctors office but changed insurance so to get my actual glasses, I had to go to one of the insurance companie's "providers" and the easiest one was lens crafters. I found the CUTEST pair of ray bans, totally geek chic but still feminine so I bought them and added on the thin lenses, uv protection, scratch resistance, etc. Well when I picked them up, first of all the lenses were so thick it was like a glass window (i've worn glasses all my life with little change in perscription from last year) and my glasses have NEVER been that thick. Well the thickness I can live with, as they are not too heavy. But the BIGGEST problem was the very next day when i wore them, after i cleaned them with the eye glass cloth that came with it, the most horrible scratches appeared all over the glasses (IN ONE DAY!). My glasses looked as though I had thrown them into a tool bag with wrenches and screwdrivers and nails! I took them back and they replaced the lenses, and AGAIN, the very next day, HUGE, MAJOR SCRATCHES. I have worn my last pair of glasses for a year and a half and never had any scratches. The scratches appear to be on the scratch resistant coating and not actually on the glass. Cheap craftsmenship and poor quality is my final verdict. Now im stuck with crappy glasses because my insurance company already paid for it til next year. read more

Its a busy Saturday afternoon at Ala Moana, but Lenscrafters keeps their cool! I walked in, just browsing around (as my insurance is soon to renew), and were greeted by SEVERAL friendly and accommodating sales associates. Chris Torres, the manager, is on his sh***!! (No joke!) I asked a few questions, about a combination of options, as I have been a glasses wearer for a very long time. No question was too annoying or difficult to explain. My recollection of Lenscrafters back in the 90s, was just "shark style" associates; who snubbed their noses at families who's insurance couldn't afford a nuclear family all Burberry or Cartier frames. Travel crisis mostly averted! My partner lost his glasses in the water (kinda my fault - I didn't want him getting lost when he went swimming). We hunted this place down, and fortunately we had brought his prescription with us. Though it was a tough prescription to make, they were friendly and able to make him a new pair of glasses in really short order. This was a great LensCrafters. I came in for a problem visit and I did not wait very long until I was seen by the doctor. The front desk staff were exceedingly friendly and although there was a problem with the air conditioning that day, they were very kind in handing out bottled water to everyone in the waiting room. I did not see one of the main doctors at the practice, but rather a very friendly young doctor who was quite knowledgeable and professional. I give this place 5 stars!! read more

I was there early. Had breakfast at zippy. Stood in front of section ( eye examine ) at 0954. Never been engaged by the gentleman putting glasses on their display. Even later, when he walked to the desktops on their customer service work station , he walked away to go into the Sears store. It was almost like there was a wall between me and him. At that point I had left (my appointment was at 10 am). Almost 1 hour I received a call. I expressed, I did not appreciate the customer service received and seeking business elsewhere. I recently visited the ala moana location and had thee best experience. I'm a hair stylist so finding a pair of glasses that looked good and allowed me to do my job was critical. I'm new to having to wear eye wear so I was a bit worried on how to pick from the basic color to shape of any type of glasses that would work for me. Upon arriving I was greeted with a freindly smile and an energetic Hello from "Nikki". Nikki was amazing from the start. She guided me through the whole process of what to look for and homegirl was real in the sense of telling me and other people she was helping what DID and DID NOT look good and why. I bought some Xpensive Chanel glasses, for the price to me the fancy C logo was wearing out a bit early. I called in spoke to a wonderful guy named THOMAS who was friendly and very helpful. I went in the next day and they switched them out in less than a minute!! Literally!! Now THAT is customer service! He was great, go in and see the very customer oriented Thomas!! I'll be back to get some schwayy cool sunglasses from him!! I only take the time to do this when they really are excellent, and he was. My current experience with this particular LensCrafters wasn't a pleasant one. One of my starts is for the poor customer service after knowingly not informing me of the a change in my lens. They relying heavily on their "text message" system to inform customers when their lens will be ready outside the expected one hour turn around. After contacting the technician directly his attitude was very rude and borderline disrespectful. I asked if I didn't call request a status update after waiting 5 days as promised. The technician informed me there wouldn't have been any contact to inform me of a change and I had three options: Wait, refund, or retrieve old glasses and wait! I decided to get my refund. The second star is for the refund process that was seamless. She did a great job returning my money but I felt that there could have been more lens crafters could have did. During my initial visit, I overheard guest requesting the same lenses I was yet in one hour after the Lens Technician mentioned the system was restore but I had to wait five days. read more

I went there for a check up since its been a while. They were very nice and polite. The optometrist was such a sweetheart! It was also nice that she was able to relate with my eye prescription. Disappointed with their customer service/loyalty. I had my prescription eyeglasses done there in February 2015 costing nearly $400. Unfortunately, my eye sight have gotten worse due to beginning stage of cataracts which rendered the pair of eyeglasses useless. I had to go to the doctor to get new prescription, took it back to LensCrafters, Ala Moana today and inquired if they would replace the lens since I had the eyeglasses for only over two months and now they are partially useless since I am not able to see clearly with them. All I wanted was simple clear lens so I am able to see with these eyeglasses not the polarized, photochromic lens purchased early. They wouldn't accommodate unless I pay another $200. I understand that there are other places that clear lens would cost about $50. I can't afford to pay over $600 for a pair of eyeglasses so I can see. I declined their generous offer. I just had to call my eye doctor and get them to email my prescription to me so I could show it to LensCrafters. They had it ready for me so quickly and stayed late before going to lunch. I really don't like this place. I came in for a last minute, i need to get my prescription updated before i get cut off from my medical, visit. I came in 15 minutes prior to my scheduled appointment, checked in, filled out my medical information, and then waited another 45 minutes for the rest of the staff to come back from lunch. Because they were 45 minutes late, I was 45 minutes late to work. On top of that, they didn't have the contacts that I wanted so they gave me ones that were "similar" but that weren't really meant for me. After all this I thought i'd be able to make a speedy exit because I had filled out all the paper work before hand. Wrong. They had my paper work, but didn't input it into the system. (Which made me even more late) Later I found out that they charged me for services that weren't rendered ($75 worth). I went back to speak to a manager. Reading reviews about LC was very enlightening because I had the same negative experience as lot of other people. Before I came to Ala Moana Lenscrafters, I lived on the mainland and went to LC for years for my glasses and eye exams, never had an issue and was always happy with their service. When I first came to HI, I didn't have regular eye doctor so I just decided to go to LC for eye exam because I figured I would get my glasses there like I always did in the past. I got lady doctor(don't remember what her name was, it was several years ago) who was really abrupt, with very poor bedside manner. Acted like she didn't give a damn, kept signing every time I asked a question, etc. Ok, since it was for eye exam I figured I just go a different doctor next time(at the time they had 3). Unfortunately, shortly after I developed persistent eye redness and irritation that wasn't going away and I decided to go see another doctor at LC. Got Dr Au, who was very nice and gave me some eye drops(which did help temporarily). Unfortunately, my problem persisted and I had to return to see doctor again. Dr Au wasn't available so they gave me Dr Sween. He was nice and helpful. Alas, this is where good experience ended. At this point I was there 3 times within a month because of reccuring eye issue. Every time I came, medical assistants tried to get me to do full eye exam(we are talking about not just reading the letters but also doing glaucoma test, etc. Now why the hell would I need 3 glaucoma tests in one month? I tried to explain to every assistant why I was there and that I already had the tests but they would insist that I do it. After 2 time I flat out refused the further exams. Later found out that my insurance was billed for all these "eye exams" which I didn't need(and times that I refused I found out that I was billed for it anyway) I would pay copay at the front desk and think that would be the end but after I came back for follow up appt, they would ask me to pay again because I "didn't pay the full amount" according to them. That happened every time I came back and I kept coming back like an idiot because my eye problem continued. I should have gone to someone else but live and learn...I had to argue with them every time about the amount of copay because they would overcharge me every time(and believe me, I spoke with my insurance company to verify my copay amounts) I finally went to the different eye doctor and had my eye problem cured. But if you think that would be the end of it, you would be wrong. About 1 year later I get a bill for the full amount of the visit(which is about $250 or so). My reaction to this was WTF?! And when I called them, I was told at first that I used up all my vision coverage money and that's why I was billed for the full amount. Ah, a year later? Something smelled bad here so I called my insurance company and learned that Lens Crafters have never even submitted the claims for my last visit. We are talking about a 1.5 y went by before they even send me the bill. My husband got involved at this point, he called LC, ranted and raved and threatened to report them for fraud and they promised to cancel the bill(which they did). I don't know if they are so incompetent that they couldn't even submit my bill to the insurance company in the timely manner or were they trying to scam people. I lean toward the later. I don't know if its the doctors know what is going on with the billing or not. At best, their staff is incompetent beyond compare, at worst, they are guilty of trying to defraud customers. I suggest avoiding this place like the plague read more

Lenscrafters Ala Moana Bought a Cartier $1500 ( $990 frames and $500 lense) and a Tiffany Rx sunglasses $900 ($280 and $550 lense). After 7 days I was able to pick up my glasses. However, since the floor manager Ammi & the clerk Teresa Ramirez did not fit the glasses on my face BEFORE measuring the pupilary distance and seg. height, both of these Rx glasses were produced wrong and caused my lenses focus to be off centered. Lenscrafters took back both Rx glasses and redid the correct measurements and I was able to pick up only the Tiffany glasses on day 14. However, when I arrived, Ammi the floor manager said the Cartier glasses takes about 3 weeks. I couldn't understand why no one ever mentioned that before and also because I had received the Cartier in 7 days last week. The Tiffany still held the fittings from the previous visit but it needed more adjustments and Ammi refused to fit my Tiffany glasses on my face. I mentioned that the left lens was out of focus. If I moved the glasses to center my eyes better, I could see clearer. Ammi still refused to adjust the glasses to fit my face. I could see that Ammi would not budge; she would not offer any assistance to help make the glasses work. On day 21, I was able to get my Cartier glasses. Ammi the floor manager was very stoic and refused to fit the glasses on my face. After I opened the box, I put the glasses on my face and l looked at her expecting Ammi to make the adjustments to fit my face. The nosepiece of the Cartier glasses was too wide and the lenses fell too low below my eyes. Ammi took the glasses behind the windows into the lab. She came back about 8 minutes later so I could try the glasses on again. She repeated this 2 more times (which took 30 minutes more). On the 3rd time I asked, "why is SHE NOT fitting the glasses on my face and expecting someone else in the back LAB to fit the glasses without even looking at me?" She said, "Everyone at Lenscrafters are TOO AFRIAD OF FITTING A CARTIER glasses." If I wanted my glasses fitted to my face I have to go see the general manager, Phil. Phil does not work on Sundays. I can only arrive on Sundays; so, too bad for me. I said how could this be? You are all PAID and trained to sell and fit glasses. WHY is there no one here to fit these glasses? You sell me these $1500 glasses and no one here can fit it on my face? I have a normal face; it is not mutant shaped or anything. I read more Yelp reviews. There are so many that report Ala Moana Lenscrafter's poor customer service: employees claiming they are too afraid of fixing/fitting glasses because they might damage them. LENSCRAFTER'S IS RIDICULOUS! My husband & I have bought more than a dozen pairs of expensive glasses from this store over the past 10 years. We will never come back again. I'm only giving them 1 star because I can't give zeros. I myself work in a doctor's office and I would never have a patient wait over 2 hours to pick up glasses! My brother had an appointment this morning sometime after 10am, and I came to pick him up after his appointment. About 11am they text my brother that his glasses are ready and to come pick up the glasses. Lens crafters was pretty busy this morning when we came in, right when we walked in we were about to check in with the main recelrionist/cashier in the front. Without any word she pointed to the waiting area for where you would wait for the optometrist. Confused we sat and waited, it was so busy we didn't want to bother, about 15mins on after waiting the receptionist for the optomotrist waiting area went to lunch. I figure I'll go do some shopping and my brother can meet up with me and then go home. So I left my brother in the waiting room and went to shop. About 2 hours in I went to 4 stores and did damage to my wallet. So my brother didn't call me so I walked back to lens crafter to see him still sitting in the waiting room where I left him. The receptionist that went to lunch was already back at her desk. Pissed I ask them how much longer the wait for my brothers glasses. They told me this isn't the waiting room for the glasses. Pissed off , I asked if you seen him sitting here why didn't you do your job and Check to see what he was waiting for?! The receptionist responded who said to come here? We directed her to the other lady who told us to sit in that waiting room. From there all hell broke loose. I asked why did you have us wait in the wrong waiting room? Denying that she did that she began to help us and retrieved his glasses that were in the drawer the whole time. I'm beyond pissed we were here all day, due to people not doing their job. If only the receptionist in the optometrist office checked on us we would have not been at lens crafters since little after 10AM until almost 3pm!!!!!! Ridiculous! And yes I filed a complaint but was told by supervisor that the general manager is out on pto and they will have her call me asap. I'm not usually a b****, but this was just awful. I went in to the store today at Ala Moana location around 6:30 pm to look for a replacement to my current glasses. Having been a customer to Lenscrafters in Pearl Ridge for years, I figured that I'd stop by at the Ala Moana location since I was nearby. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT IN CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I was there at least 20-30 minutes and NO ONE EVEN ASKED ME IF I HAD BEEN HELPED. One of the many employees had said an awkward hello to me, but didnt even bother to ask if I was doing okay. I dont recall being in a retail store for that long and NOT BEING ASKED FOR HELP. By the way, there were only less than three or a couple of clients at a time which was more than enough time to ask a lone client if he/she was going okay or tell them that an employee would assist shortly. The employees seemed to do okay with clients on hand who they were assisting, but it appeared that they didnt know how to greet or acknowledge other clients waiting for service. The manager of the store should visit other retail stores to learn and train their staff on customer service for waiting clients. I am taking my business to elsewhere. read more

First of all, Dr. Au and Lau are great. Dr. Au is really personable and brilliant: the first time I went and got my contacts, she could answer all of my questions and took the time to explain why she was doing the things that she did. She was **very** easy to talk to and is an amazing doctor. I would highly recommend going to her. The receptionists at the front desk, however, are not all the great. For example, when I came in I felt like I was being lied to and that they did not know their job. The receptionist that had helped me was named Sam. She had told me that she could not pull up my records/files even though I had been there in the past. Worst yet, she could not even begin to explain to me why and gave me attitude when she falsely assumed that I had been to Kahala for a contact study? All she told me was, "yeah...I can't pull it up. I don't know why" and left it at that. This caused me to re-fill out all the forms I had in the past and wait even longer. In addition, when she had asked whether or not I wanted a receipt of how much my contacts had cost last summer (I get a years worth of biweekly contacts ), she also said she "can't pull it up" and didn't even give me a reason--it felt as if she was playing off helping me so that she could do other things. This was also a trend while I was in the waiting room--she would tell other patients that she couldn't pull up information and yet was "going off with whatever she saw on the computer." She didn't have the time to get up and ask if she didn't know something? These receptionists would do us all a favor if they knew their jobs better. Especially Sam. She is incompetent beyond words. I have to give this place a one star. I got my prescription here, and it was wrong. I knew it was. When I told him it was wrong, he said my eyes would get used to the changes. Six months later I went to Costco and got a new prescription. BINGO. They got it. I had glasses made that were perfect. LensCrafters refused to remake the lenses with the right prescription. The staff made me feel very uncomfortable, they forced me into paying first before even receiving treatment, spoke in their foreign language while staring and making faces at me. They held on to my current glasses and "forgot" to give them back. I felt very rushed while filling out my paperwork. I wanted to try hard contacts. Which apparently was like bringing up an ex-husband to the doctor (Dr.Tanu). Her attitude towards me was horrid. A week passed without any word on my contacts I ordered. I called them, and they informed me my contacts have arrived. A little annoyed they didn't let me know. Second appointment- new doctor (Dr. Wong). soo nice! the difference in service was like night and day. Hard contacts didn't work out, and during the follow up appointment I got 2 possible diagnoses: 1. I have a rare disease that is only treated in 1 hospital in England 2. My eyes are refusing contacts for an unknown reason, try buying an air filter." If you insist on wearing contacts, wear it socially, for no longer than 4 hours." Long story short, I got myself a trial pair of soft lenses which work great without any changes made to my environment. Plus, I can wear them all day, just like i did when I wore soft contacts for the last 5 years! First doctor- (nothing nice can go here) Second doctor- very nice, good intentions, but now I can't trust any diagnosis she makes.. I'm scared to try a new doctor again. I won't be back. read more

They saved our trip! No sooner had we landed in Hawaii, I realized that I forgot my Make up bag AND my glasses back in CA, and to make matters worse, my husband forgot his sunglass. So as soon as we picked up our rental car we headed to Ala Moana so we could get new glasses for me, and sunglasses for my husband. As we walked in, we were greeted and explained our situation. The women who helped us asked if I had ever been to LC before- I had, a couple years back! Amazingly, she found my file, and was able to do a new set of glasses for me after calling my eye doc here in CA, and getting a fax of my RX. They had them ready for me in just an HOUR! That was just enough time for me to buy some makeup at Macy's that was right next door, and help my husband pick up a new pair of sunglasses. He got an awesome pair of Maui Jims he's always wanted. The sales lady also informed us of some kind of warranty plan, that LC offers, we decided to get it! It was an awesome deal, and the way my husband abuses his sunglasses- I'm sure we'll be using it. My 2 yr old was restless from the plane ride, and started running circles. SUPER annoying- I know, but he was at the end of his rope and needed to burn off steam. They really should deserve 1 star. I only gave them 2 stars because the sales lady chose stylish frames for me. However she also did something unethical. The frames did not have nose pads and so she sent me to Shirokiya to do them; she said the ones done by lens crafters is really large and thus unattractive. I had them done by Shirokiya not knowing that if something happened to the lens because of Shirokiya's repair man, lens crafters wouldn't fix it. Well there was a microfracture in one lens and lens crafters nor Shirokiya would take responsibility. I talked to another sales woman at lens crafters and explained my situation and thats when she told me that sale people were intstructed not to refer people down to Shirokiya for nose pads. In fact she even showed me the ones at lens crafters and they looked almost the same as Shirokiya's. Is there some kind of a kick back program going on between certain salesman at lens crafters and Shirokiya? I don't know. Lens crafters eventually replaced the cracked lens. As for the nose pad, one of them falls out of the frames occasionally. Moral of the story unethical workers at lens crafters, poor workmanship by Shirokiya repairman, and Shirokiya repairman was not owning up to any responsibility. On another note the eye doctor's at lens crafter, esp Dr. Linda Wong is very very GOOD. Highly recommended; we need more optometrists with hearts these days. Thank you Dr. Linda Wong! read more
