This particular location always takes forever in the drive thru even if it's only 1 car. A lot of high school kids working here. This was like a blast form the past. We really liked the old-fashioned décor and general makeup of the place. Our only issue was that at lunch-time, the kids form the local high school descend, order sodas, etc, and fill the place, standing between all the seats and become rather annoying. Like, there was an ass at our table (that wasn't ours) Guard against this and you get the 50s sock hop music and feel that isn't easy to find in the Phx area. Tried this a few weeks ago and ever since had a hankering to get back for more. Only problem is their stupid hours... Who closes at 7PM on the weekdays, 2PM on saturday, and isn't open on Sunday? Guess when you're sitting on a gold mine you can do what you want... Burgers are big and sloppy and awesome. That's really all there is to say. Decor is kinda cool, I posted pics if you want to see some. Food is cheap and fast, a big plus. Its right off the Thomas and Central Lite Rail stop, so if you're looking for good eats, Lenny's is a good stop! This is original location of a wonderful family run '50s style diner chain. Right on tram line it can get a bit packed in the afternoon with school kids, and packed at lunch with local employees but the food is always delicious. They have some seriously huge burgers, though their buns don't quite hold up well to the grease. I love their ham and cheese which is piled high with black forest ham and absolutely oozes cheese and ham grease. The fries are simple and could be better but they offer options like chili fries, cheese fries, and mixtures of the two (even with bacon). The place has a very '50s feel and is great if you're looking for diner faire. Great burgers, shakes, sandwiches, and more interesting options like Frito chili pie, chili dogs, and piled up French fries. Though be warned, eat quickly because the fries and buns definitely get soggy fast. read more

I went to grab a hamburger, upon entrance I can hear workers yelling and cussing. This happened all the time I was there, staff was talking to each other loud say fuck you and using foul language, staff was not courteous at all. The service was quick but I had to go to hotel room which was only 40 yards away and had to heat up my food in hotel microwave cause food was cold. Came here after a doctors appointment at St. Joes. We came around 11ish. Just a few peeps in the restaurant. The atmosphere was great, LOTS of decor but I was really in awe of the menu. Looked great! Prices were decent. I was told to get the Cowboy burger because it was "really" good, eh, I've had better. It literally crumbled in my hands, maybe too much sauce? I don't know but with the use of a napkin, LOTS of them, I was able to eat it, come on, I was hungry. I do have to say the the french fries SUCK. Seriously. Don't give me half cooked fries. They weren't even crispy. It was gross to be honest with you and reading other reviews, looks like I'm not the only one who thinks they should work on their french fries. The ONLY reason why I won't come back here is because we came in early, I witnessed them cooking a ton of burgers and putting them in a dish - waiting for the "lunch crowd" to come in. I think in terms of local hamburger joints, Lenny's is pretty bad ass. They have tons of toppings and ways to jazz up your burger. You can watch them make your burger through the glass. The shakes are pretty good as well. It's a hole in the wall with enough character to raise it a few notches above the rest. Other places, that are dives but good, like Lucky Boy are in the same class but Lenny's seems more like a destination as opposed to a drive thru. However, to put in all in perspective, we're talking hamburgers here. Nothing gourmet. Five and diner style hamburgers, grilled sandwiches and fries. You can add jalapenos, green chiles, chili, cheese, bacon,....whatever. You pay one price for a drink and can choose whatever size you want. The drinks are self serve. It's easy on the wallet as well, as it should be. I fed my family of five for around $35 or so. My main criticism is the lack of big booths or more spacious seating. Every time I go, the room with extra seating is closed off. But seating everyone between the counter and the small booths is part of the experience, I suppose. read more

I was extremely disappointed! The burger may have been the absolute worse burger I've had in many years. It was dry, overcooked and looked like it had been cooked earlier in the day and kept in water until needed. I was only in Phoenix for the night and feel like I wasted an opportunity for good food somewhere else. If you want a good "burger" meal don't go here. read more

I really hate leaving reviews to places but this place made me do it. I went through drive through placed my order $20 not to bad to bring food to my assistant at the office. Problem is they forgot my corn dogs and they gave me the small fries. Called to see if I could get those corn dogs and fries that I paid for and the manager wasn't having it. She was right and I was very wrong. Now I believe in honest mistakes but to deliberately be offensive to me when I am buying from you during this epidemic is just bad business. Lenny's is the new and improved McDonalds for me. I stepped into this cute, hip diner and ordered the Mexican burger combo: fries and a large drink. Total = less than $9! NICE! You order to the counter, self serve your drink and pick up order. Have a seat and go at it like you haven't eaten for days - that's what I did! The sauteed onions on the burger were yummy. The poblano chiles were a different story - I had two big fat pieces! It was kind of hard to bite into the burger without grabbing one big piece out! I wish they cut them in pieces! upon arrival to the food establishment me and my fiancée were inquiring about certain foods on the menu and was receiving the worst attitude from the supervisor and once we decided what we wanted to order he said I'm sorry I didn't hear anything she said and I'm standing right in front after paying for our meal and beginning to wait my fiancée asks about substitution from a fountain drink to a root beer float and the supervisor proceeds to say it's gonna cost you more mind you guys the window says a root beer float is only $1.29 so we asked okay how much more and then got more attitude when we came in respectful from the jump and we asked for our money back and he proceeds to call my fiancée his "bro" once we ask for a refund because we noticed the attitude I highly recommend to not eat here nor take your family to this establishment read more

Several coworkers and I ordered $190 worth of food at 9:10pm. The order was confirmed by the restaurant and the driver arrived at Lenny's to pickup the order. At 10pm (when they close), the restaurant outright cancelled our order. We all work night shift at the hospital in the ICU so our food options are extremely limited. About 10 of us ended up without dinner for night thanks to this careless restaurant. read more

Went to this Lenny's for a "quick" lunch today. Walked in and there was one party of four in front of us, and that was it. We ordered at 11:47 am (as indicated on my receipt). We were patient as time wore on and the restaurant filled out, but finally at 12:25, I went to ask for an ETA, it had been nearly 45 minutes at this point. The cashier rudely said "we're working on it." I asked someone else and they said "we're going in number order". My order was 32, and number 37 and 38 were called before mine. I asked for the manager and the cashier told me "the lady in the pink sweatshirt", but when I asked her, she told me "there is no manager here". I finally got my order at 12:33, exactly 45 minutes from the time I ordered. My fries were burnt, the burger squished and oily, everything was nearly inedible. There was no apology offered, nor an explanation. Terrible, terrible service. Would NOT recommend. read more

This Place is PATHETIC!!! This is my third visit through the drive-through. The second time I came here for a small chocolate milkshake they took 13 minutes at the drive-through to give me one small chocolate milkshake 13 minutes unbelievable!!!! Today I decided to go there during my 30 minute lunch to get a small chocolate milkshake I waited four minutes at the drive-through window no one acknowledged me no one open the window I drove away this is ridiculous I'm gonna have to find me a new spot for shakes I can only imagine had I ordered an entire meal I probably be waiting there for two days! I do not recommend the kids meal corndogs they are completely burnt crisp and soggy since they put it in foil. I wish I would have read these reviews first before taking my brother to the Central Ave location tonight for dinner. We love just about every other Lenny's location in the valley and I personally have been a customer for decades and never had a problem like I had tonight. We walked in and two employees are eating food at one of the food prep counters. They stare at us but don't say anything. This goes on for a few minutes then another lady pops up and says it's going to be a few minutes. So I turn to my brother and asked if we should go to one of the other locations. I mean, the floor was really sticky, it looked dirty, not what we are used to with this chain. The lady became irritated and butted in to our conversation and asked if we were leaving. She was so rude. I asked for chili dogs and she said they had no hot dogs. Ok. So we ordered corn dogs, fries, and rootbeer floats. She marched off angrily to go make our floats and when she handed them to us, she crossed them as if she was giving me a "special" one. Sure enough when I took the lid off, it had half the product that my brother's had. At this moment, I lost my trust in accepting this product because as angry as she was, I didn't want to take a chance that my float was tampered with. She refused to give me another cup for a self serve soda instead, so I didn't mind spending another $2 for safety concerns. I get a feeling she treats a lot of people poorly due to the location. I went to the 59th Ave and Peoria location. I placed my order at the drive thru at 11:38am. A combo meal with an upgrade of a medium shake and a side order of onion rings. By the time I received my order at the window and pulled away it was 12:01pm. I pulled over in the parking lot to sneak a onion ring, it was at best lukewarm, flavor was okay, just not hot. by the time i got to my house at 51st Ave and Glendale and gave the rest of the food she said that all tasted good, just not hot. The best part of the meal was the shake, yes it was cold and creamy. We have been fans of Lenny's for many years and I can say that IF this was my first time, it would probable be my last time.
