Based upon a friend's recommendation, I went to Dr. Abrons Office when I moved to the area. It's…read moreyour standard family practice office, a mix of patients in the lobby, and competent office staff. What I really liked was you didn't do your medical history on a long standardized form. Wait for it...you did it with Dr. Abrons. Seriously! We chatted about an hour going over every medical event that I could remember. He was funny and offered general medical advice as well as scheduling me for a battery of tests (all checked to make sure my insurance covered these and yes, they were necessary). When my results rolled in, he called me not the nurse. I also really like his PA Wendy. He does make me come in every 6 months to authorize refills which is aggravating as only sick people should see a doctor but he believes in seeing all of his patients on a standard basis to make sure he's providing the best for them.

Vanessa and her staff are absolutely awful. The only person that was remotely professional in this…read morepractice was the Dr. I was diagnosed with a kidney infection and then prescribed the wrong antibitoic medication that I took for a week before Eva notified me to get another type of antibiotic. Im extremely well educated with HIPPA regulations and violations and this place is off point with all of the above. I let the first problem with my medicine go .... this second encounter i had to multiple times go in person and call and leave messages to even be able to get a refill. What a headache. Which is exactly what you can expect from this place. Vanessa gave me my diagnosis and told me they would refer me somewhere but has failed to do so. I got aggravated with the front desk not being able to comprehend the fact that just like my paperwork says my preferred name..... is obviously my preferred name. I shouldn't have to hand hold a pharmacy or a doctor's office to do their job when I dont work for either of them. I did offer to apologize to her front desk and she did nothing but talk over me and tell me about her husband chuck Charlie whatever and how he doesn't get upset about his doctors calling him the wrong name..... well im not Vanessa's husband and that has 0 to do with me as a patient. She kicked me out of this practice because she said i was rude and that im not happy with their practice.... welll...... you won't be either if you decide to come here. Its only been a month by the way. Do your research and go elsewhere.

For starters, with almost 30 years of experience, Dr. Antonelli knows her stuff!! And she communicates it with a perfect blend of genuine caring, nonjudgment, practicality, and utter integrity. I've been going to her for my annual exams and paps for 18 years. Now that I'm in menopause, she has become my go-to for hormonal care as well, patiently explaining and giving me options along this journey. I've never waited more than 5 minutes in the waiting room -- or in the exam room. At the front desk, Angela and Lisa are bright lights to my day. They are both so friendly, personable, and even encouraging. Now, these things maybe aren't necessities, but they add to a richer, more satisfying experience than I get at any of my other providers. I'm beyond grateful that I found Dr. Antonelli all those years ago, and I'd never go anywhere else!

The front desk staff is amazing. The lab ladies are awesome. There are some exceptional nurses here. I wasn't completely satisfied with the way that my care was managed by the first practitioner and am now much happier after an easy switch. This office made that change easy and guilt-free. Referrals have been an issue in the past as both times I was referred elsewhere, it took many weeks to months to be seen. There was also an issue with not getting a returned call from the nurse but this appears to have an isolated incident. These appear to be the consequence of the pandemic. Overall I am happy that my family is here and recommend this practice. We feel well cared for by Tabitha, a HCP who listens and is patient, and her nurse.

She put us at ease and helped make a stressful situation much more pleasant. I hate that I can't remember her name!! Tall, blonde, that was incredible. She explained what she was doing when placing monitors, prepping me with IVs and what we were listening to. Just wonderful making sure she took care when checking me and not exposing my private bits to my father and his wife. Shift change happened and the next nurse seemed frazzled from the start. I know it was a busy night but she was exasperated each time she came into check my fetal heartbeat monitor. This baby is a mover and she yelled at me to sit still - ummmmm no. Then she's just flipping my blanket up, I'm the one trying to block my fathers view of my vagina. She could have asked him to stand outside. She showed 0% consideration to my situation with waiting for an open operating room or my personal feelings or physical comfort. Talk about night and day. This stands out even more since everyone else was kind, courteous, professional, reassuring, and all while doing their job. The Delivery Team was incredible! Explained every crazy step as they were prepping my body. They were incredible and I didn't just feel like a number. They had a crazy busy night delivering for moms after car wrecks and other terrible events (my hubby kept hearing about the ambulances coming in when he would wonder the halls) The delivery doc on call was super nice and went out of his way to make a personal connection with me - we'd both had hand surgery by the same surgeon. The staff were even funny when taking photos of my hubby cutting the cord. Outstanding combo of personal and professional. The nurses caring for us during our stay were the sweetest and most caring, even when doing super uncomfortable things to me. The lactation specialists, Heather & Sara changes my life and we're able to find a way to get my premie breastfeeding. Even better for me was the fact that the entire women's Bldg was on lockdown for children under 6 or 12 not being allowed due to the flu epidemic as well as no ill people allowed entry or access to visit. This alone gave us so much less to worry about. Thanks Betty Cameron Women's Pavilion staff on every level! Thank you so much for helping us bring this tiny girl into our world.

My experience with Novant Health in Wilmington left me feeling dismissed, unheard, and deeply…read moreconcerned about the quality of patient-centered care I received. I came in with worsening symptoms that I knew were not normal. Despite clearly communicating how my condition was progressing, I felt as though I was being medically gaslit. Because my lab values, MRIs, and echocardiograms appeared "normal," my very real and escalating symptoms were repeatedly minimized and ultimately labeled as psychosomatic. What made this even more troubling was the apparent bias I experienced due to my mental health history. I was open about having bipolar disorder, yet instead of being treated with thoughtful, comprehensive care, it felt like my concerns were filtered through that diagnosis--used as a reason to discredit rather than to better support me. When I expressed serious concerns about continuing my pregnancy--considering both my physical health and mental well-being, as well as the safety of my child--I was not met with compassion or proactive care. Instead, I was essentially told that I would need to "stick it out" for several more weeks, or wait until my condition, specifically preeclampsia, became severe enough to warrant intervention. Being told, in so many words, that I would only be taken seriously once my health took a dangerous turn is unacceptable. No patient should feel like they have to get sicker to be believed. Healthcare is supposed to be built on trust, listening, and early intervention--not dismissal and delay. I hope this review serves as a wake-up call to examine how patients--especially those with mental health histories--are treated when they advocate for themselves. I deserved to be heard. I deserved better care.
