The chicken strips were high quality (no chewy bits) and a load of fries came with. My wife chose the plum dipping sauce and it was awesome. I had the Rueben and it was piled high and the condiments on it made it even better. It also came with a pile of fries. This was an excellent meal. The restaurant, or lounge as they refer to it , was large and there is plenty of room for gear if riding. Service was friendly and drinks were always kept refreshed.

We…read moredid not wish to lodge in one of the typical motel-type settings we saw in town, so toured around the outskirts a little, and found this property had their 'vacancy' sign lighted. After stopping in, and checking out a 'larger' room the Manager suggested, we decided to go for it. Some initial concerns with our decision, but they were quickly dispelled once we got settled in. Our room was rather large, with two queen-sized beds, small fridge, microwave oven, table & chairs, and etc. With the wood walls, et al, it looked much like the inside of a cabin. It "grew on us", and became quite "warm & friendly". We picked up some foodstuffs in town at the local supermarket for our dinner that evening (chicken, salads, garlic bread, and etc.), plus, visited a couple of craft shops (fun, and friendly - and some lovely offerings), and checked out the walkway along the lake in front of some of the beautiful lakeside homes (= gorgeous!!). Then dined outside, on a small patio in front of our room. With the gardens & forest setting, sunshine & warmth, food and drink ... we loved it!! A good sleep, breakfast in our room, and then it was on to Ainsworth Hot Springs the next morning -- with fond memories of our stay in Nakusp!!

The grilled red snapper tasted fresh and the portion was generous, but was doused in a dill white sauce. With a heavy sauce, less is more... I recommend ordering the snapper with just a dill garnish and the wasabi dipping sauce on the side. The atmosphere is cozy and friendly with a stupendous view of the lake.

After we had traveled all day from Edmonton, the front desk threw a wrench into the first night of…read moreour trip. We had confirmed a room advertised as "Pet Friendly | 2 Queen Beds." We had even put in the credit card they demanded to secure the room. When we arrived, one of the woman at the front desk told us, "Cats are not allowed." As if that wasn't insulting enough, they acted as though we should have known this - even after I showed my confirmation document that included a pet. "Oh, that's only for dogs," she insisted, not nicely. "You should have read the hotel policies posted online." I have traveled around the world, and never even thought of looking up a hotel's internal policy statements. A second woman at the desk looked at me sympathetically, clearly embarrassed by her boss' behavior. I tried calling the Best Western helpline. A woman there transferred me to someone calling herself Tiffany, who put me on hold a couple of times. Finally, she came back to tell me the same thing as the front desk, even though she had initially agreed that this sounded outrageous. Naturally, I asked her to give me a good reason to ever trust Best Western again. At this point, I cannot imagine putting any part of a trip in their dishonest hands. The first woman at the reception desk finally made a few calls, upon our insistence, and found us a room at a motel in Sicamous. I did appreciate that gesture and have reviewed the other place; interested travelers can find that on my Yelp page. Meanwhile, Best Western still has their falsely advertised listing online. I just found it and will paste the screenshot below.

Careful as this is a public safety health issue. They were advised of planned power outage but due to greed, neglected to tell their guests that Sunday June 23 will be without power but they will sure take your money. After the water issue our room smelled like sewage, water was brown and front desk staff did not seem to care. I'm disgusted that we allow businesses to conduct themselves like this in this country. This is flat out abusive conduct to treat people like this as long as we can line business owners pocket. Shame on sicamous and British Columbia for lowering your standard over the years. This hotel should be assessed for public safety issues. The day our ministries take lisencing and public safety seriously, we will be safe. Don't pay until you see the room, flush the toilet, run the water, look at and smell the mattress and take a look at window sill sheets and floors. You'll need to open the door for this as the lighten serves the owners. My rating does not exist. This hotel owner is hiding due to his negligence. My true rating comes with many negatives. Look out for your safety

We could actually hang out in the little…read moreparts of the cave to ourselves except for a couple spots where people sat and never seemed to leave. I think a guy must have been meditating there. Sometimes it's hard to see people in the caves and I actually thought this guy was a statue. The main pool feels like Luke warm water and the cold plunge is only big enough for maybe 4 people at a time. The caves are really the most desirable place to be if you like it hot. This place was overall much smaller than I expected though. We soaked for over and hour or so and then got ready for our dinner reservations and dinner was really great! It was about $150 for four of us to eat up there in USD. We grabbed some ice cream bars from downstairs as well for dessert. I liked this place and one night was enough. We arrived around 4:30pm, had dinner at 7pm and were in bed by 9pm. The next morning was a soak and then get ready and go. Great trip and lovely customer service.
