The whole park is nicely kept, which is always great to see. The whole playground area is fenced in, and there are a few picnic tables around if you want to have lunch or snack.

Many areas along the trail are shaded by large trees so it's not all sunny and hot. The lake has a good population of turtles and surprisingly also has big mouth bass among other species that you are allowed to fish! They offer a boat ramp to bring your boat or even canoe! They also have plenty of places around the lake to sit and just reflect and relax. The path was very clean and markers easy to spot as there is only 1 path and no diversions. It's a great morning activity with family and friends.

The only reason I come here is because it's convenient. Just 5 minutes from my house and an easy drive. I don't recommend anyone come here if you aren't in the area; it isn't even worth your thought. I pay $6 for a mediocre basketball court when I could drive 10 more minutes up 45 and go to Libertyville Sports Complex. It's $8 there and they have wooden courts (and not to mention, they have like 20 of them). All in all, I will only go here because it's close (and clean/tidy). Even if they raised the price another $0.25. Not recommended.

I recently returned with a group to see a presentation slide show and do a guided walk through the bog interpretive trail and had a really great time. It was the first time I'd done the guided tours or experienced the presentations. The docents and people working here are really great and you can tell they enjoy what they do here. They were very friendly and open with our group and everything was very informative. The fall colors were beautiful! I wish I'd seen a muskrat this time but the temp was chilly and they were probably all hunkered down. I did see lots of birds! If you enjoy nature you should definitely visit Volo Bog.

This park has awesome trails, super clean and even has a spot where you can get free poop bags if you are walking your puppy and forget your bags. There is also lavatories. Park closes when the sun sets. Throughout trails you will see signs about the park and habitat. Great views, no picnic tables which is fine with me since I enjoy I good walk/run. This places goes up and down which is amazing. You you are looking for a cool spot to run this is a good one. The only thing is that parking is not very big. Other than that I'd be returning.

This trail is so peaceful! I've now done the trail twice (once in May, and once in October). The…read more(gravel) paths are extremely wide and leave plenty of space for bikes and walkers. Easy way to get in a good 10k steps before you even realize it, and the changing landscape is absolutely beautiful. We missed the sunflowers/wildflowers this year, but I will be sure to not miss them again next year!! Plenty of parking for a weekend visit. Wear sunscreen as the path is wide open, and bring hand sanitizer as the restrooms were out of soap both times.
