Wow, I just had the most unfortunate encounter with what I am told is the manager of this marina. My husband and I were going to lease a slip here, thank goodness this happened before the paperwork was signed. I was told via phone that since I am a housewife and have no income my husband would need to turn in the application, which he did last Saturday, with my name appearing on it as well. The woman he gave it to (along with a money order) said there was no need for him to have filled it in, since we were married I could have and that the "other woman" was mistaken. She said I could return the following week to sign the agreement so he would not have to take off work. I called on Tuesday (maybe Wednesday) to confirm that I would be there Thursday morning to sign and to make certain this was ok. Once again we were told, yes, you are the spouse you can sign (my information is also on the lease application).
I open the office door, someone from another room yells out "can I help you with something", upon explaining why I was there everything quickly went south. The woman was clearly agitated and couldn't find the lease, she started questioning me as to why the girl did not have it prepared if she indeed told me to come down and sign. I could only say I do not know, this is what the girl told my husband and me and that is why I drove all the way here this morning. She continues on and on in a horrible, loud and accusing tone, again all I can say is what I was told, to which I am basically being yelled at that I am being untruthful. At this point I am getting loud back (I should not have let her get to me but I did) it appears that is the only way to get a word in because she will not stop yelling. She then calls someone to confirm that I cannot sign and begins to yell at me again "who would lease to you, you have no income, no one would ever lease to you" and "why would my assistant tell you that, she didn't". I am gobsmacked at this point and yelled back "why would I lie about this?" She continued to yell, I continued in response, it was terrible. I finally yelled out "customer service, try it, it goes a long way" at which point I was informed that she didn't need to have any because her marina was full and she would just stop our lease agreement. I agreed and said that was the thing to do, she then yelled at me to get out of the office and never return and to have a nice day. I in turn said have a nice day and kiss my a**. To top it off when she voided the agreement she refused to return the $350+ money order to me, of course my husband will need to pick that up.
I should not have let this woman get the best of me and I should not have yelled back, I should have tried to calm her and diffuse the situation, but at what point do you stop allowing the people who you are paying walk all over you. She yelled at me like I was a dog and then called me a liar. I have never had anyone yell at me with such horrible disregard.
I am aware of numerous circumstances where I cannot apply for things because the proof of income is under my husbands name, the fact that we were misinformed is not the issue, all of this could have been avoided had she simply had a little decency and customer service. Instead she attacks me and I become this despicable liar, so devious just so I can sign for a boat slip.
