My experience involved repeated clerical errors, poor communication, and a lack of accountability when concerns were raised. I completed my requested paperwork promptly, but some documents were not reviewed for months and became outdated, creating additional work for me. Several items were handled at the last possible moment within court deadlines, which created unnecessary stress and confusion for me. I noticed several errors which caused me to question the care and attention my case was getting. Among the issues: documents filed with the court included my first name misspelled, the judgment was returned by the court for correction twice, and my prior last name was not restored in the final judgment despite me raising that issue during the case. After finding these and other issues, I reached out directly and requested an opportunity to review my concerns with the attorney. I was told in writing that a meeting was not necessary and that the errors were considered "alleged." I have copies of all work completed. That was when I chose to share my experience publicly. I understand legal matters can be complex, but accuracy and communication are an expectation of customers.

Your first question is probably " how do I find a good attorney?" This was the first question I asked myself. I asked a few friends and did some research on the ones that were suggested and found that Ms. Buzzard was not only highly recommended by one friend but several other people who I mentioned her name to when asked who was representing me. Ms. Buzzard and staff have your best interest and your finances at heart. They are very professional both inside and out of court. You will not feel like you are in this battle alone. My ex-to-be has an attorney that likes to milk his retainer down so that she can line her pockets with more money. She does this by constantly emailing Ms Buzzard about silky, trivial things and things that are fabricated to get a rise out of us. Ms Buzzard will read them but will not pass it on unless it is absolutely necessary. This means that there is a lot of useless garbage that I have not had to deal with or worry and stress about. She knows that this is the last thing her client needs to deal with at this time. If you want an attorney that sees you as a dollar sign, then there are many in the area for you to choose from. If you want to feel like you are being represented well, then you have found the right law office!

Since the 2 stars (which equates to the "[service] could've been better") were due to the unprofessionalism and inattentiveness shown (not due to her being an LDA), I have no reason to change my rating or delete my review. TL;DR: Marizen is NOT a lawyer. She is a Legal Document Assistant that cannot provide you with legal advice. She is a significantly affordable option for a Living Trust but she is unprofessional and has poor attention to detail-- key characteristics that are paramount to detailing an important document. Details: I left a Living Trust inquiry via her site and Marizen emailed me back within 1 day to "text" her back for a scheduled over-the-phone consult. Upon speaking with Marizen it was clear she did not take the time to review the few questions I had sent her in my initial inquiry as she was confused as to what the consult would primarily be regarding. Her rates were significantly less than what other competing services were offering which raised an orange flag for me. Upon further research, I realized Marizen was NOT a lawyer, but rather a "Legal Document Assistant (LDA)." According to the CA Attorney General, LDAs cannot give legal advice. This was my first encounter with an LDA, which allowed me the opportunity to do the necessary research to make a more educated investment. Had Marizen gotten back to me with the necessary next steps and questionnaire as she had promised (it's been over 1.5 weeks), I may have considered her as a possible option to complete my Living Trust needs. But if you are looking for a more affordable option, perhaps Marizen is a good fit for you.
