This is an old hotel sitting in the busy Spice Bazzar tourist hot spot. It is 15-min walk to grand Bazaar. It has easy access public tram service Our tour group stayed here before leaving Turkey to go home. The farewell dinner was okay nothing spectacular. However we have samples all fine Turkish cuisines in the past two weeks. It was great a have a great place to have a final gathering. The sandwich that the hotel prepared in the early morning hours (2:30 am) was awful. So just my recommendation is staying at this hotel and try all the wonder local dishes at the bazaar! read more

The stars are for the location, and the room on the 1st floor we stayed in ... This hotel is situated very close to the spice market, and a twenty min walk to the Grand Bazaar (fyi, walking here in Turikye: get ready for battle, some people walk very fast, some people walk slower, their is no order, just people basically walking straight right into you -- it is really, really triggering. Nobody moves aside just walk right towards you and on the cobblestones or avoiding their disguised curbs moving laterally, you could really sprain your ankles)., Rushum Pasha Mosque, Galata Bridge and the Bosphorus. The hotel has a strange scent in the common areas, potpourri, and roses dominant, especially in the elevators, which is off putting. Towels were not refreshed on the second night, we had to call after having a full day of walking. Interesting that a tip was taken. And the breakfast gave me explosive vomiting. So, the 3 stars are pretty generous. read more

Location, location, location. This hotel has a walkscore of 95+. Many of the places to visit are within walking distance or a short cab ride. The hotel itself has beautiful architecture although it shows its age. Was reasonably clean. The services at the front desk, restaurant, and in general were good (actually, because they tried hard to be helpful, sometimes the service could be perceived as slow). The restaurant on the top floor provides nice view and the food (breakfast and dinner) were decent. Of course, since many more nice restaurants are within walking distance from this hotel, one has many options rather than just hotel dining. One area of improvement is the elevators. They are slow...... especially when you have many people waiting to use them. Use the stairs if you are young and strong. read more

Location Location Location! We stayed here twice on our recent vacation to Turkey. The Legacy Ottoman is located in the heart of the old city and within walking distance to many of the cities amazing attractions. And if walking is not your thing, the tram is just around the corner. The hotel itself is beautiful and offers excellent service and comfortable rooms. The complimentary breakfast is located on one of the higher floors offering some amazing views. On both visits, our room faced the street and were afraid we might not get a restful nights sleep but lucky for us, it's a quiet neighborhood and we had no problem sleeping. Excellent value given it's location and amenities. read more

Great location and vintage building, but staff (front desk) were rude. Rooms are far from 5 star.... More like 3.5 We stayed here 5 nights, first night was a nightmare with a wedding in the hotel that ran loud music past midnight, calls to front desk were ignored. Front desk manager.."this is a 5 star, we have weddings all the time".. no apology for anything. The rooms are spartan, with wafer thin mattresses and no free coffee or water (5 star????). Saved the best for last, at checkout my minibar (which I hadn't touched) bill was $90USD... I met with the manager who told me I had to pay for the chips and water (again .. We didn't use it)... I explained we only used the bar in the lounge and the bill was half of the total requested. In the end it was miss my flight arguing or pay and leave. We travel all over Asia and Europe... Stay away from Ottoman Legacy, far better hotels at same price around the corner (example.. Check out The Levni) read more

Perfect location with friendly helpful staff. Room decor was a little dated but it is easily looked past when you enter the lobby and grand foyer with its over the top decoration and massive chandeliers suspended above. When in Istanbul next I will be sure to stay here again. read more

We stayed in Legacy Ottoman Hotel for 3 nights with an escorted tour. The location is great; most staffs are friendly. Rooms are far from 5 stars. Air condition in our first room was not working. The second room is so tiny, not fit for couples; bathroom is very tiny without any counter to put stuffs; shower has no glass panel nor curtain - imaging taking shower in that kind of facility! Wall unit air conditioner hanging over the desk was working, but it dripped water onto electronics (phone, iPad, etc. )which we put on the desk when we turned off the air conditioner. It was a wonderful tour, and it could be an even better one if we can have a more Reasonable room. read more

This hotel has it's virtues.It's quite pretty and you are easy walking distance to the Spice(Egyptian ) Market and the Galata Bridge which has loads of restaurants as does the strip of Galata on the other side of the Golden Horn.Avoid the restaurant.It's mediocre at best and disorganized.A long walk or a short tram ride will take you to the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. Along the tram road you can pick up water and beer should you so desire as well as food provisions(which in Turkey you're not supposed to bring this into your room).The mattress could use another layer but other than that ,the room is nice and when the call to prayer hits , you'll get a major serenade.Oh one important point ,while I said the restaurant was bad, that does not apply to breakfast, which is terrific and the best i had in Turkey! Good yougurt , pekmez , halva, fresh orange juice, cheese, - all kinds of goodies!The breakfast room also has good views of Galata. If only they'd extend the food logic shown in the breakfast room to the upstairs dining room. read more
